If your OBS stream is replaying one short video, select its Media Source, open Properties, and enable Loop. For a sequence of different clips, use an OBS VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. These settings control what OBS sends to your stream; YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control does not change the video source feeding a live broadcast.
Choose the loop setting that matches your setup
One video file: Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene containing the video and click its Media Source in the Sources list. If you do not have one, add a source with the plus button and choose Media Source.
- Open the source’s Properties.
- Turn on Loop, then confirm the change.
- Preview the scene and let the clip reach its end. It should start again from the beginning.
OBS describes Loop as replaying the file after playback completes. If the source instead stops on its last frame, check whether Loop is disabled. Show nothing when playback ends controls what OBS displays after playback ends; it is separate from Loop.
Several files: VLC Video playlist
- Install VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC; otherwise the VLC Video source may not appear.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene.
- Open its properties and add the clips to the playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist, confirm the settings, and preview the full sequence through its end.
Loop Playlist restarts the source after it has played through its media files. Check the playlist order and any shuffle option so the sequence behaves as intended.
Check why the source seems stuck or restarts unexpectedly
Separate looping from end-of-playback display
For a Media Source, Loop repeats the file. Show nothing when playback ends changes the display when playback completes, and Restart playback when source becomes active controls where playback starts when the source is activated. These controls have different jobs: changing the end-frame display or restart behavior does not replace enabling Loop.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check what happens when a source is hidden
For VLC Video, the playback behavior setting governs whether playback stops and restarts, pauses and resumes, or continues while the source is inactive. This applies to the OBS media source when it is hidden or inactive; it does not determine whether YouTube’s live broadcast has ended. Test the behavior by hiding the source or switching scenes, then showing it again.
Make sure you are changing the encoder’s source
YouTube’s Loop control repeats a video or playlist for a viewer. It does not loop the media playing inside OBS or change the source being sent by your encoder. To fix a repeating clip in an OBS live stream, adjust the OBS source or playlist.

Test the stream before leaving it unattended
A looping video is only one part of a 24/7 broadcast. Playback, OBS, the computer, network connection, stream key, media files, and YouTube can each affect whether the stream continues. A source set to loop does not by itself guarantee an uninterrupted live connection.
- Preview the intended scene and confirm the correct source or playlist is visible.
- Let the file or playlist reach its end and confirm it starts again as expected.
- Hide the source or switch scenes to verify its inactive-source behavior.
- Start the broadcast and monitor its stream health rather than assuming successful looping means the connection is healthy.
- If YouTube is not receiving the stream, check the stream URL and key and the encoder-related settings in YouTube’s live settings.
OBS media sources support video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. If a file will not play, confirm that its format is supported and that the source points to the intended file.
