Turn off YouTube Autoplay if a different related video starts when the current one ends. If the same video is reopening every day, Autoplay alone may not be the cause: YouTube describes Autoplay as starting another related video after playback ends. Check the device or cloud service that launches playback for a schedule, routine, playlist, or resume setting. The exact control depends on the service and device, which the question does not identify.
First identify what is restarting
Note what happens when playback begins. The starting point and timing help separate YouTube features from an external launch action.
- A different related video starts after one ends: This matches YouTube’s documented Autoplay behavior. YouTube Help explains: “When Autoplay is on, another related video will automatically play after a video ends.” YouTube Help: Auto-play videos.
- The same video continues from an earlier timestamp: This may be saved playback progress, rather than a fresh daily launch. YouTube says, “When you play the video again, it will restart from where you were,” though this behavior has exceptions. - The same video starts at 0:00 at roughly the same time each day: Treat a schedule, routine, startup action, or service automation as a possibility to investigate—not as a confirmed cause. YouTube’s Autoplay description does not explain why one exact video would be launched daily.
Write down the device, service or app, launch time, whether playback starts at 0:00 or resumes, and whether the video was opened from a playlist. Also note whether it happens on one device or several.
Turn off Autoplay on the devices where it occurs
YouTube says Autoplay settings can differ between devices. Check each device where the unwanted next video starts; changing one device’s setting may not change another’s.

- Phone or tablet: Open a YouTube video and switch off the Autoplay control at the top of the player. You can also use Settings > Autoplay in the YouTube app on Android or iOS.
- Computer: Open a video on YouTube and switch off Autoplay in the player.
- Smart TV or game console: In the YouTube app, open Settings, find Autoplay, and turn it off.
- Casting: On the connected phone or tablet, open the queue or playback control bar and switch off Autoplay.
- Google Assistant smart display: In the Google Home app, select the display and go to Settings > Notifications and Digital Wellbeing > YouTube settings. Change Autoplay for the voice-matched user or other users, as appropriate.
These controls address YouTube playing another video after one ends. They do not establish or disable an unidentified service’s daily schedule for opening the same video.
If it resumes at a saved timestamp
A partially watched video may resume from its previous position for a signed-in viewer on supported YouTube devices. The progress indicator may take time to update; refreshing the browser or feed can help it show the current position. Clearing watch history also clears progress bars, but that is a broad history change—not a targeted fix for an unknown daily launch.

If playback pauses with “Continue watching?”
This prompt is different from a daily restart. YouTube says it may appear during prolonged playback with Autoplay on: after 30 minutes on mobile, 60 minutes on the web, or 180 minutes on TV. Find the daily launch setting in the service or device
If the same video still launches daily after you have checked the relevant YouTube settings, inspect the software that actually starts it. Because the service and device are unspecified, there is no confirmed menu path to give.

- Look for a scheduled task, routine, alarm, startup option, or automation in the device or service that opens YouTube.
- Check whether the launch is coming from a playlist, saved queue, browser tab, or app setting that resumes playback.
- Compare another device or user account if practical. If the behavior follows one device, focus on its settings; if it follows a particular account across devices, record that detail for the service’s support team.
- When asking for help, provide the service and device names, launch time, starting timestamp, and whether the behavior occurs from a playlist. Those details are needed to identify the applicable control.
