You can wait for Food Poisoning to run its course, but Health continues to fall while the status is active. Destructoid estimates about five minutes; treat that as a guide estimate, not a guaranteed duration across game versions. Food that is spoiled or no longer fresh can cause Food Poisoning. The guides do not agree on a single freshness cutoff: PowerPyx warns about red freshness values and advises avoiding food below 50, while Destructoid says food at 0% freshness causes the effect. Rather than treating either number as a universal rule, inspect the food’s current freshness or status display and avoid items marked spoiled or expired. (PowerPyx; Destructoid)
