Start by checking the broadcast’s auto-start and auto-stop settings in YouTube Live Control Room, but don’t assume they disable Gyre’s restart behavior. YouTube describes those options as encoder start/stop controls; Gyre publicly describes automatic restarting, but its reviewed help material does not document a dedicated setting to turn restart after a disconnect off. Check the current Gyre stream controls, then contact Gyre support if there is no restart option.
First identify how Gyre is connected to the broadcast
The right place to check depends on whether you connected Gyre to a broadcast you created in YouTube Studio or authorized Gyre to manage your YouTube channel.
- Manual YouTube Studio setup: You create the broadcast in YouTube Studio and connect Gyre using a stream key. YouTube’s broadcast settings apply, and Gyre’s setup guide covers the encoder start/stop options. Gyre’s setup guide.
- YouTube channel authorization: Gyre says this workflow lets it manage the broadcast lifecycle, including automatic stopping. Its behavior may therefore differ from a manually created broadcast. Gyre’s YouTube API workflow.
If you are unsure which method you used, check Gyre’s connection or stream setup details before changing YouTube settings. This helps you avoid treating a YouTube encoder option as a control over Gyre’s own automation.
Check YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Open the settings for the relevant stream or broadcast and review Auto-start and Auto-stop.
- If you use Gyre’s manual stream-key setup, compare those selections with the settings in Gyre’s setup instructions. Gyre recommends enabling auto-start for automatic starting and says auto-stop can be enabled when you want the stream to stop after the video finishes.
- When creating a later broadcast with YouTube’s Reuse settings option, check the copied auto-start and auto-stop selections instead of assuming they are off.
YouTube explains that auto-start and auto-stop let an encoder start or stop a stream, and that Reuse settings copies these options. Stopping at a planned time is different from preventing a restart
If your goal is to end a stream at a scheduled time, check Gyre’s Streams Scheduler. Gyre documents scheduling start and end times and says the relevant YouTube auto-start/auto-end options are enabled during stream setup. Scheduler availability may depend on your plan. Gyre Streams Scheduler.
A planned end time does not answer whether Gyre will restart after an unexpected disconnect before that time. The public scheduling information describes scheduled starts and ends, not a disconnect-specific restart control.

If Gyre keeps restarting after a disconnect
- Stop the stream in Gyre if you need the restarting to cease immediately.
- Check the broadcast status in YouTube Live Control Room so you know whether YouTube still considers it live, ended, or otherwise inactive.
- Look through the current Gyre stream settings for a restart or reconnect control. The reviewed public help material does not confirm that such a control exists, so do not assume a particular menu or toggle will be available.
- If you cannot find an option, contact Gyre support. Include whether you used a manual stream key or channel authorization, when the disconnect occurred, and what YouTube showed afterward. Gyre’s setup help directs users with problems to its support service. Gyre’s setup guide.
Gyre’s public product description presents automatic restarting as part of its automation. That supports the possibility that a restart is intentional behavior, but public documentation reviewed here does not establish the precise trigger or prove that users cannot change it. Gyre.
