You can stream Indian music on YouTube at 720p if your measured upload connection can sustain the stream’s total bitrate with room to spare. YouTube recommends 6 Mbps for H.264 video at either 720p30 or 720p60, plus audio; it recommends leaving 20% headroom over the total bitrate. Those settings are a starting point, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service. You also need the rights to livestream every recording you use, and YouTube may interrupt a live stream when its systems detect third-party content.
Choose settings that fit a 720p upload connection
A connection described as “720p” does not tell you its sustained upload speed. Check your actual outbound capacity, then compare it with the combined video and audio bitrate. YouTube recommends 20% upload headroom and warns that other users or devices sharing the network can reduce available capacity. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
| Setting | Practical starting point | YouTube guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1280 × 720 at 30 fps for mostly static music visuals | 720p30 and 720p60 are both listed; 30 fps is a workload-conscious choice, not a platform requirement. |
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264, 6 Mbps | 6 Mbps recommended and 3 Mbps minimum for both 720p30 and 720p60. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 Kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube recommends 128 Kbps for stereo and 44.1 kHz for stereo audio. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Protocol | RTMPS when supported | YouTube recommends RTMPS. |
These video bitrate figures are specifically for H.264; YouTube lists separate ranges for AV1 and H.265. Do not treat the codec columns as interchangeable. Check the current YouTube encoder settings and choose a codec your encoder supports.
At the recommended H.264 baseline, account for at least 6 Mbps of video plus the audio bitrate and leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom above the combined outgoing rate. If your measured upload cannot maintain that with margin, lower the bitrate and test carefully; 3 Mbps is YouTube’s listed H.264 minimum at 720p, not a guarantee of acceptable quality or stability for your content.

Prepare the channel and stream key
Before configuring an encoder, verify that your channel is eligible and set up the live stream in YouTube Studio. Follow YouTube’s live streaming tips for current channel setup requirements.
- Confirm that the channel is verified and has had no livestream restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Create or select the live stream in YouTube Studio and open its stream settings. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains where the stream key is managed.
- Copy the stream key into the encoder’s stream configuration, using RTMPS if available. Treat the key as a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Set the encoder to 1280 × 720, the chosen frame rate, H.264, CBR, the selected video bitrate, AAC stereo audio, and a two-second keyframe interval. Confirm the encoder is actually sending the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate.
Test the network and monitor the stream
YouTube recommends a reliable network, a test stream, and monitoring stream health. A speed test is only a snapshot: it cannot prove that a shared connection will sustain a continuous broadcast. Test with the same audio and visual movement you intend to use, since actual stream conditions matter.

- Measure outbound upload speed at the computer and time of day you expect to stream. Make sure the total outgoing bitrate, including audio and any backup stream, stays within capacity with 20% headroom.
- If possible, use a wired Ethernet connection to the router. It may help avoid some wireless variability, but cannot increase the upload capacity of the internet service or guarantee reliability.
- Start a test stream and inspect the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. Check that the image, audio, resolution, and stream health are as expected before relying on the setup.
- Monitor audio, video, and stream health during the broadcast. For a 24/7 channel, plan for ongoing checks and interruptions; YouTube’s technical guidance does not certify any configuration for uninterrupted 24/7 uptime.
Clear music rights before you go live
Music being available on YouTube, downloadable, or credited in a description does not by itself establish permission to use it in a continuous livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms require the necessary rights, including applicable music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may replace a stream with a placeholder, issue a warning, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even music you have licensed may be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For Indian music, confirm directly with the relevant rights owners or an appropriately qualified rights provider that the permissions cover livestreaming, your intended territories, and the specific recordings. The platform guidance does not establish the permissions for any particular song, catalogue, or use, nor does it settle India-specific legal questions. Keep records of permissions and any required owner-side allowlisting.

Troubleshoot common 720p livestream problems
- Stream health reports connection trouble: compare the actual total outgoing bitrate with measured upload capacity, including audio and any backup stream. Reduce the encoder bitrate if necessary, avoid saturating the shared connection, and test again.
- Video looks soft or breaks up: check that the encoder is truly sending 1280 × 720 at the selected frame rate and that the bitrate is stable. If you are below YouTube’s 6 Mbps H.264 recommendation, expect a possible quality trade-off; test any change in Live Control Room.
- Audio is missing or distorted: verify the selected audio input and confirm AAC stereo, 128 Kbps, and 44.1 kHz in the encoder. Listen to the YouTube preview rather than relying only on the encoder’s meters.
- The encoder cannot connect: check that the selected live stream is active, that its stream key was copied correctly, and that RTMPS settings match the encoder. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream is interrupted after a music match: investigate the notice in YouTube Studio and confirm that the exact recording and use are covered by your rights. Ask the rights holder about required Content ID allowlisting; a license alone may not prevent interruption.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube stream to keep looping without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the stream running from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode or use quality tiers. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. A StreamNeo slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and team support. StreamNeo streams uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. You still need the necessary rights for the music you upload.
