What’s actually slowing this PC down?

You can run a continuous Indian music livestream from a Windows 11 PC with an encoder such as OBS, but no setup guarantees uninterrupted uptime. First, confirm you have the rights to stream every recording and its underlying musical work on YouTube; then test the channel, encoder, and internet connection before relying on the stream overnight.
Before you set up the stream: clear the music rights
Do not rebroadcast Bollywood songs, bhajans, kirtan, Gurbani, film music, or other commercial recordings until you have confirmed that you can use each track in a YouTube livestream. A consumer subscription to a music service does not by itself grant rebroadcast rights.
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause YouTube to replace the live image, interrupt the stream, or end it. Even a licensed stream may be interrupted if the relevant rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
Check both the song and the recording
A track may involve separate rights in the musical work and the sound recording. In India, copyright provisions address rights in musical works, including public performance and communication to the public; the Copyright Office handbook notes that playing a sound recording may require a licence for the underlying music as well as one for the recording, depending on the rights and repertoire. IPRS and PPL India describe licensing for parts of their respective repertoires, but a general licence should not be assumed to cover every track, YouTube livestream, territory, archive, or monetization arrangement.

- Confirm coverage for the exact recordings and compositions in your playlist.
- Ask whether the permission covers live streaming on YouTube, territories where viewers may watch, the planned duration, monetization, and any saved or archived copy.
- Confirm whether the rights holder needs to allowlist your channel in Content ID before you go live.
- Keep written permissions, licence terms, track lists, and relevant correspondence where you can find them.
YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to represent that it has all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. This is not a legal determination about any particular Indian licence. If coverage is unclear, get track-specific confirmation from the relevant rights holders or licensing organization before broadcasting.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions during the preceding 90 days and gives an age minimum. Check the current requirements for your account in YouTube Studio before building a long-running setup; eligibility and enforcement decisions can affect whether you can start or continue a broadcast.

- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live. The precise labels or flow may vary with YouTube’s current interface.
- Complete channel verification if YouTube prompts you to do so, and check whether the account has any live-stream restrictions.
- In Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. Choose a title, visibility, and any other details appropriate to the broadcast.
- Locate the stream URL and stream key in the stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, show it in a screen capture, or share it with anyone who does not need access. Reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
Use a private or unlisted test first, as appropriate for your channel and test audience. A successful test confirms that the signal reaches YouTube; it does not prove that the music is licensed or that the stream will remain online indefinitely.
Set up OBS on Windows 11
OBS Studio is one encoder option for sending a continuous audio-and-visual feed from a PC. Install it from its official distribution channel and use the current version available to you. Menu names below describe the general workflow; check the labels in your installed OBS and YouTube versions.

- Create a simple scene. In OBS, add a still image or other visual you have the right to use, and add the audio source that will play your cleared music. A static visual can be enough for a music stream. Check that the image is not misleading and does not contain material you lack permission to broadcast.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Open OBS Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service if available, and enter or connect the stream key using the method your OBS version offers. If entering details manually, use the stream URL and key shown for that stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Never paste a key into a public chat or document.
- Choose a quality your connection can sustain. YouTube’s general encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 options, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe frequency. For a static music visual, standard definition or 720p may be sufficient; choose based on your real upload capacity, not the maximum your PC can select.
- Use the platform’s 720p reference carefully. YouTube recommends 2 Mbps video bitrate for 720p at 30 frames per second. This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee of stable streaming on your particular PC, encoder, or network. Set the video bitrate in OBS output settings, keep the keyframe interval at two seconds, and select CBR where the encoder exposes that setting.
- Set audio and confirm the source. Select the intended audio input in OBS and verify that its meter moves while music plays. Use an audio setting supported by your encoder and YouTube’s current guidance; the available evidence does not establish one universal audio bitrate for every setup. Listen to the actual output for clipping, silence, incorrect routing, or an unexpectedly quiet level.
- Preview before going public. Start the encoder output as directed by YouTube, then wait for the Live Control Room preview to appear. Check the picture, audio, stream status, and selected visibility before starting the live event in YouTube’s current controls.
- Test the complete workflow. Run a short private or unlisted test using the intended playlist, scene, and settings. Confirm that audio and video remain synchronized and that you know how to stop and restart the encoder and the YouTube event.
Make the Windows PC and connection more dependable
A 24/7 stream is an operating goal, not a YouTube uptime guarantee. The PC, encoder, power, internet connection, rights enforcement, and monitoring all remain possible points of interruption. YouTube recommends testing the upload bitrate and leaving network headroom; its streaming guidance recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth in reserve.
Protect the upload connection
- Use wired Ethernet where practical, especially if Wi-Fi is inconsistent.
- Test the upload connection at the location and during the times you expect to stream. Other devices and household or office traffic can reduce available upload capacity.
- Leave the recommended 20% upload headroom rather than setting the encoder to consume the full measured upload speed. Total stream bitrate must fit within the capacity actually available to the PC.
- If the stream drops frames or YouTube reports a weak connection, lower the video bitrate or resolution and test again. A higher-quality setting is not useful if the connection cannot sustain it.
Keep Windows and OBS from stopping unexpectedly
- Check Windows 11 power and sleep settings so the PC does not sleep while you intend to broadcast. The exact controls can vary with Windows updates and device configuration.
- Connect the PC to stable power and avoid scheduling restarts, updates, or maintenance during the planned stream. Install updates and restart deliberately before a test, rather than discovering a restart prompt during a broadcast.
- Close applications and scheduled tasks that could interrupt playback or consume substantial network, CPU, or GPU resources.
- Check that the music playlist reaches its end and loops as intended. Watch for a player stopping after one pass, a file that fails to load, or a source that becomes silent.
- Monitor the stream periodically, including at the start of a new playlist or after any change to the PC, encoder, audio source, or network.
Plan for outages and recovery
YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream and recommends testing failover and monitoring. If you have a second encoder and connection, test a backup-encoder workflow in advance instead of assuming it will take over correctly. If you do not, keep a restart procedure and the stream settings somewhere secure and accessible.

A UPS for the PC and router is an optional way to bridge some short power interruptions. It is not a YouTube requirement, does not guarantee a particular runtime, and cannot keep the broadcast connected through an ISP outage. YouTube also recommends checking local archive files where applicable; confirm that any recording you rely on is actually being saved and is playable.

Before each long broadcast
- Confirm that the channel can go live and that the stream is configured with the intended title, visibility, and schedule.
- Verify that you have permission for every track, the relevant compositions and recordings, the intended territories and use, and any archive or monetization; confirm Content ID allowlisting if required.
- Check the OBS scene, audio meter, playback loop, encoder settings, and Live Control Room preview.
- Check the available upload capacity, bitrate headroom, Windows power settings, and power connection.
- Make sure the stream key is private and that you know the steps for a safe restart.
If the livestream stops or loses audio
- Check Live Control Room for a stream-status warning or rights-related notice before restarting. A repeated restart will not resolve a rights match or missing allowlisting.
- Check the PC’s internet connection and whether other devices are using the upload bandwidth. If the connection is unstable, reduce the encoder bitrate or quality before resuming.
- Check OBS output status, the selected audio source, playback position, and whether the playlist is still running. Listen to the returned stream if possible rather than relying only on OBS meters.
- If the PC or encoder stopped, restart the encoder and follow the current YouTube controls to reconnect or resume the event. Confirm that Live Control Room receives the signal again.
- After recovery, monitor the stream and inspect any local recording for missing or corrupted sections. Record the likely cause so the same interruption can be prevented next time.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded music videos without leaving a Windows PC running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
