You can run a continuous K-pop instrumental study-music broadcast by clearing the music and visuals for YouTube Live, configuring an encoder in YouTube Studio, and monitoring the stream. The key caveat is that “instrumental” does not mean copyright-free: you need permission for the recording and composition, and YouTube may still interrupt a licensed stream if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel. A 24/7 broadcast also is not a dependable way to create one complete archive; YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured.
1. Clear the music and visuals before scheduling
Decide first whether the stream will be public, monetized, and archived, and where it will be available. Those details affect the permissions you need. YouTube puts responsibility on the creator to obtain all necessary rights for live content, including rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other participants. Confirm permission for both the sound recording and the underlying composition, as well as the visual pairing, livestream use, territories, monetization, and any on-demand archive you plan to keep. The applicable requirements can vary by country and catalog. YouTube Terms of Service.
Removing vocals, recreating a track as an instrumental, calling it a cover, adding attribution, or writing “no copyright intended” does not by itself grant permission. YouTube says even short unlicensed uses can be claimed. Its Audio Library is one source creators can consider, but check the specific track’s terms for your intended territory, livestream, monetization, visual synchronization, and archive use; the library’s existence does not establish that every track covers all of those uses.
Keep proof of permission and confirm Content ID handling
Keep licenses, permission records, and relevant label or publisher correspondence accessible. If using protected music, YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor. Ask the rights provider specifically whether your channel can be allowlisted in Content ID for the planned live use and archive. YouTube warns that licensed third-party music may still interrupt a live stream unless the owner adds the channel to its allowlist. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

2. Prepare the YouTube channel and stream materials
Verify the channel and activate live streaming early
YouTube’s live-stream tips say the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube for Artists advises activating live streaming at least 24 hours before a first broadcast. Check eligibility and restrictions before you build the schedule, not on launch day. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips and YouTube for Artists resources.
Choose a visual loop you are allowed to use
Prepare artwork or another looping visual that you have the right to pair with the music. For a static study-music feed, prioritize stable playback and readable artwork; the cited YouTube guidance does not establish that 4K or a high frame rate is necessary for this use.

Choose an encoder workflow
An encoder gives more control over a designed music-and-visual broadcast than a simple mobile or webcam stream. YouTube supports software and hardware encoder approaches and says a laptop can be used; its guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification for a static music stream. Start with suitable hardware you already have rather than buying a dedicated machine without a demonstrated need. Compare options by YouTube compatibility, long-run reliability, disconnect recovery, and how much monitoring they require. YouTube Help: Encoder setup.
3. Create and test the live broadcast
- Create or schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, open the live-stream setup in Live Control Room and create or schedule the broadcast. Select the intended visibility and event details.
- Connect the encoder: Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key from the live setup into the encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Run an unlisted test: YouTube for Artists recommends testing, particularly for a high-investment production. Start an unlisted stream and confirm that the visual loop, audio playback, preview, and stream-health indicators are all behaving as expected before publishing. YouTube for Artists resources.
- Set resolution and bitrate for the connection: Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the selected resolution and ingest codec instead of copying generic bitrate advice. Choose a quality your upload connection can sustain reliably, then test it. YouTube’s network guidance recommends keeping 20% upload headroom; a connection disruption can break the stream. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions and YouTube Help: Troubleshoot live stream latency and quality.
- Publish and monitor: Once the unlisted test is clean, switch to the planned public event or start the scheduled broadcast. Keep an eye on stream health, audio, video, and any copyright warnings during operation.
4. Plan monitoring, recovery, and the archive
A 24-hour schedule still needs an operator plan
A continuous schedule is not self-healing by default. YouTube recommends monitoring; have a person or process ready to respond to a failed connection, encoder problem, audio failure, or rights warning. Content ID checks continue during live transmission. YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If it detects a match, YouTube can replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the content remains, it can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Archived live streams can also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Do not rely on one 24/7 stream for a complete VOD
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 broadcast is therefore not a reliable way to produce one complete playback archive. If you need an archive, consider operating in shorter sessions or making a local recording and checking it. Make sure your music permissions cover archive use too; a local recording does not create those rights. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
5. Choose a schedule and music source that fit your needs
| Choice | Useful when | Trade-off to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| One uninterrupted broadcast | You want one continuing live destination. | It needs monitoring and recovery planning, and it is not a dependable way to get one complete YouTube archive. |
| Shorter sessions | You want a better chance of YouTube’s under-12-hour auto-archive behavior applying to each session. | Sessions need to be restarted and monitored; each restart is another operational step. |
| Licensed catalog tracks | The provider can document rights for your exact live and archive uses. | Confirm territory, monetization, visual pairing, and Content ID allowlisting rather than assuming a general license covers them. |
| Original or commissioned tracks | You can document the rights granted by the creator or other owners. | Confirm the same live, archive, territory, monetization, and visual-pairing permissions in writing. |
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is broad platform context, not a forecast of audience size for a new K-pop study-music channel. YouTube for Artists resources.

6. Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely issue | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a live stream. | Verification, activation time, or a channel restriction may be blocking eligibility. | Verify the channel, activate live streaming in advance, and check whether a restriction occurred within the preceding 90 days. |
| The preview is missing or stream health is poor. | The encoder may not be sending the expected feed, or upload capacity may be unstable. | Check the server URL and stream key in the encoder, verify audio and visual output, reduce quality if needed, test upload bitrate, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom. |
| The live stream is replaced, warned, interrupted, or terminated. | Content ID may have matched third-party content, even if you have a license. | Check the warning and contact the rights provider about the specific track and channel allowlisting. Do not assume attribution or an instrumental arrangement resolves the claim. |
| The broadcast ends unexpectedly. | A network disruption or encoder failure may have broken the feed. | Check connection and encoder status, restart the broadcast if appropriate, and keep a monitoring and recovery plan for future runs. |
| The archive is incomplete or absent. | A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. | Use sessions under 12 hours if relying on YouTube’s automatic archive behavior, or maintain and verify a local recording with appropriate archive rights. |
