You can run a 24/7 YouTube stream of relaxing nature music without OBS by sending a playlist of prepared video and audio from a cloud streaming service. First enable live streaming on your channel, prepare media you have rights to use, then connect the service to a YouTube stream using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. The cloud service keeps the feed running; your computer does not need to stay on.
What you need before setting up a 24/7 stream
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming. YouTube’s getting-started guidance says streamers must be at least 16, have a verified channel, and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance before scheduling a launch.
- Nature visuals and music you are allowed to broadcast. Use your own recordings or assets licensed for continuous live use, worldwide distribution, and any archived replay you intend to keep. Save the license or permission documents, including any conditions on monetization and Content ID.
- A cloud playlist streaming service. This replaces the local OBS encoder for an uploaded-media loop. Check the provider’s current format limits, playlist behavior, reconnection handling, authorization method, retention policy, and terms before relying on it.
Set up the YouTube stream
- Enable and verify live streaming. Sign in to YouTube and follow the channel’s live-stream activation steps. Allow up to 24 hours if this is the first activation.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live, then use Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream. Select the encoder workflow and enter the title, description, privacy, and scheduling details.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your cloud service. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it casually. Reset it in YouTube if you think it has been exposed.
- Build the playlist. Add the prepared nature videos and music in the order you want, or configure the service to loop them. Confirm that the service accepts your media formats and that its connection is authorized for the intended YouTube channel.
- Check the preview before going public. In Live Control Room, inspect the video, listen for clean and consistent audio, and check the stream title, privacy, and chat settings. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality during a stream.
- Start the stream and confirm it is live. Follow the service’s start or go-live control, then verify the incoming preview and live status in YouTube Studio. Keep Live Control Room available so you can spot problems.
Choose the stream length with replay archives in mind
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If viewers need a replay, schedule shorter sessions rather than assuming a continuous 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete archive. Keep a separate local copy of important source media, and consider a local archive backup when practical. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Copyright, Content ID, and monetization risks
Having a license does not always prevent a live interruption
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the live picture with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the broadcast if the match continues. YouTube also notes that a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist—even when you have a license. Ask the rights holder how to clear the material for live use, and confirm that permission covers worldwide live broadcast and archived use. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains the platform’s matching process; its Terms of Service place responsibility on the provider to hold necessary rights, including music rights.
A loop is not a monetization guarantee
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible for monetization, so a 24/7 schedule alone does not establish eligibility or revenue. Build in meaningful original value and material variation; do not assume that a static visual and audio loop qualifies. YouTube’s monetization policy page lists an update dated July 15, 2025; review its current channel monetization policies before planning a business around the stream.

What to check before committing to a service
- Media compatibility: Confirm supported video and audio formats, file sizes, playlist length, and whether the service loops a single recording, a playlist, or both.
- Continuity: Ask how it handles a dropped YouTube connection, service maintenance, or a failed media file, and whether it resumes automatically.
- Channel security: Check how the service receives and stores the stream key or channel authorization, who can access it, and how to revoke access.
- Billing and storage: Compare the billing period, cancellation terms, included storage, media retention, and deletion process.
- Archives: Decide whether YouTube replays matter, given the under-12-hour archive guidance, and whether the provider offers any separate backup path.
- Support: Confirm the available support channel and hours for a stream that needs attention outside your local daytime.
Troubleshooting common problems
YouTube shows no incoming signal
Check that the service has the correct server URL and current stream key, that the stream is started at the provider, and that the correct stream is open in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed or changed, update it in the service and YouTube Studio.
The preview is black, frozen, or silent
Confirm the playlist files are supported and that the intended item is actually playing. Check the service’s audio and video settings, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Replace or re-upload a file that fails consistently.

The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match
Remove or replace the matched material and review YouTube’s notice. Contact the rights holder to confirm that the license covers live streaming and archived use, and ask whether the channel needs Content ID allowlisting. A license document alone may not prevent automated live enforcement.
The stream is live but no full replay appears
Check how long the session ran. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay is essential, split the programming into shorter sessions and retain a separate copy where practical.
