To keep a kirtan channel live on YouTube around the clock without leaving a computer running, prepare a rights-cleared recording or playlist, connect a cloud relay to YouTube Live with the stream URL and key, then test playback and plan for recovery and archiving. YouTube’s encoder workflow is designed for externally prepared media; the relay does the continuous sending from its own infrastructure.
Before you set up the relay: check channel eligibility and music rights
Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. Check eligibility before choosing a relay or preparing a launch schedule. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
Clear the recordings, compositions, and visuals
Devotional subject matter does not make a particular recording free to stream. Confirm you have permission for each sound recording, composition, performance, and visual in the program, for the territories where it will be available and for both livestreaming and any archive you intend to retain. Keep written permissions and licenses. If a rights owner uses Content ID, ask them to allowlist your channel before going live.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate the feed, and having a license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption unless the rights owner has allowlisted the channel. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary worldwide rights, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Review the YouTube Terms of Service and YouTube’s copyright guidance.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose a cloud relay that fits a continuous kirtan stream
A cloud relay hosts the playback workload: you upload a recording or configure a playlist, and its cloud worker sends the feed to YouTube. Before committing, verify the provider’s current support for continuous playback, your media formats and audio, YouTube RTMPS, stream-key handling, storage and bandwidth limits, reconnection, alerts, support, and recording or export features. Check whether it requires channel or API authorization and what its current terms and price cover.
A provider’s description of looping or uptime is a vendor claim, not independent evidence of reliability. Ask how it monitors a stream, what happens after YouTube disconnects it, how alerts reach you, and what recovery looks like. YouTube does not endorse a particular third-party cloud relay.

Set up the 24/7 kirtan livestream
- Prepare and check the program. Assemble an authorized playlist or long-form video, and decide whether its visual will be a still image, artwork with motion, or other material you are permitted to use. Listen through the transitions and loop boundary to catch silence, clipping, or abrupt changes. These are production checks, not special YouTube rules for kirtan.
- Enable YouTube Live and create a stream. In YouTube Studio, verify the channel if needed, confirm there is no active live restriction, and create a live stream using the encoder workflow. Retrieve the current ingest URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. The exact labels can change, so use the connection details shown for the stream you created rather than an endpoint copied from an old tutorial. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Protect the stream key and choose secure ingest. Enter the key only in the relay’s private destination settings; do not post or share it as if it were the public watch-page link. Use RTMPS when the relay supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP protected by SSL/TLS and documents port 443 for its RTMPS ingest guidance: YouTube RTMPS ingest.
- Configure the relay. Upload or select the playlist, choose YouTube as the destination, enter the stream key and current ingest details, and confirm that the provider supports continuous looping and the files’ formats. Check how it handles audio and whether it reconnects automatically if YouTube drops the feed.
- Test with controlled visibility. Start with an unlisted or otherwise controlled broadcast. Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators, listen for clean audio, confirm the image and playback are correct, and make sure the intended viewers can reach the watch page. Resolve rights warnings before making the channel public. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring an encoder stream; its event guidance suggests setting up an encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Those are event-oriented recommendations, not a requirement for a 24/7 relay. See YouTube’s live-stream tips.
- Keep a recovery and archive plan. Decide who will notice a failure, whether the relay retries automatically, and how you will restart or switch over if it does not. Test any backup encoder or alternate path before relying on it. Separately decide how you will retain a recording if the YouTube archive is incomplete.
Match the encoder settings and connection to the actual relay
YouTube’s encoder guidance covers supported codecs and recommends constant bitrate encoding, a two-second keyframe interval, and no keyframe interval longer than four seconds. Apply those recommendations only where you control the encoder; a managed relay may expose different controls or handle encoding itself. Confirm its current capabilities and test the resulting feed rather than assuming a generic profile will fit your files. YouTube’s settings guidance is at YouTube Live encoder settings.
There is no single resolution or bitrate that can be specified responsibly without knowing the media, the relay’s accepted formats, and the intended quality. If you generate the feed locally as a backup, leave upload bandwidth headroom: YouTube recommends 20% beyond the total stream bitrate. Include both primary and backup encoder bitrates if they may transmit at the same time. A cloud-hosted sender does not use your home upload connection for its outgoing YouTube feed, though your own connection still matters for uploading media and monitoring.

Plan for archives: a 24-hour live does not guarantee a replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not treat one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast as a dependable archive strategy. If replays matter, arrange a separate recording or break programming into shorter broadcasts, and verify that the chosen relay or another recorder can retain and export the files you need. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup; storage capacity and retention depend on your bitrate and how long you keep recordings. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube will not accept the stream: Recheck channel eligibility, the current ingest URL, and the stream key in YouTube Studio. Replace a key that may have been exposed, then update the relay’s private settings.
- The relay connects but the preview is black or silent: Check the file’s format and audio track against the provider’s supported inputs. Preview the media itself, inspect the relay’s playback selection, and test a short segment before restarting the continuous program.
- The feed stops or drops repeatedly: Check relay status and its reconnect behavior, then inspect YouTube stream health. Ask the provider about alerts and incident recovery; do not assume a cloud service cannot fail. If using a locally generated backup, check available upload capacity and include all simultaneous encoder bitrates in the bandwidth estimate.
- A copyright notice interrupts playback: Stop or replace the matched material while you verify the specific recording and composition rights. Contact the rights owner about authorization and Content ID allowlisting; a devotional theme or a license that has not been allowlisted may not prevent automated interruption.
- The livestream is available but no full replay appears: Check its duration and YouTube’s archive guidance. A broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so use a separate recording or shorter broadcast segments if retaining the program is important.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service from Yorker Media for looping uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams what you uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the feed. The first day is free with no card. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plan details. For a free first day, start your StreamNeo trial.
