In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, test the preview and stream health, then start the event. Your channel must be eligible for live streaming, and you need the rights to every video and audio track. Tamil does not require a different encoder setting: use Tamil in the stream’s presentation and metadata, and check that the script displays correctly.
Before you set up a continuous stream
Check your channel’s live-stream eligibility
YouTube’s general live-stream guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. It also states that the minimum age for live streaming is 16. Check your current status in YouTube Studio before preparing the schedule; eligibility rules and account status can affect whether you can launch. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
Confirm permission for everything you will play
You need the necessary rights to stream your videos and music live. Owning a recording or having permission to use a song does not automatically qualify a channel for YouTube monetization. Live streams are subject to YouTube’s monetization policies, including its rules on reused content and repetitive or mass-produced programming. If you plan to monetize, make the channel’s original contribution clear and avoid assuming that licensed or repeated material alone will be enough. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and YouTube’s monetization policies before publishing.
Decide whether you need a continuous feed, a replay, or both
A 24/7 live schedule and a complete replay of that schedule are separate goals. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If preserving a replay matters, record a local copy and consider ending and restarting the live stream in shorter segments. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Set up the prerecorded YouTube Live stream
- Choose how the videos will play. Use an encoder that can play the prerecorded files continuously or schedule them. It may be software on a computer, optional hardware, or a hosted service. YouTube documents the encoder connection process but does not certify every vendor or unattended looping setup. YouTube Help: Stream using an encoder.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach the Live Control Room, then create a stream or schedule one. Follow the current Studio prompts for the event details. YouTube’s encoder workflow describes connecting an encoder to a live event.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not show it in screenshots or share it with people who should not broadcast. Reset it if you suspect it has been exposed.
- Set up the video playlist or loop. Select the prerecorded files and arrange them in the order you want viewers to see. Check the transition between the end and beginning of a loop, as well as what happens if a file is missing or playback stops. The exact playlist controls depend on the encoder or hosted service you choose; YouTube’s encoder documentation does not prescribe one universal looping setup.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Send the feed before making the event public. Wait for the incoming video to appear in Live Control Room, then check the video, audio, and stream-health indicators. Confirm the watch page plays as expected. YouTube recommends monitoring the stream and verifying local archive files. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Go live and monitor it. Use the Live Control Room workflow to start the event. Keep a way to check picture and sound, and a recovery procedure for problems with the host, power, internet connection, encoder, or source files. A 24/7 schedule is an operating goal, not a guarantee of uninterrupted delivery.
Choose encoder settings your connection can sustain
Use settings appropriate to the output resolution and frame rate, then test the sustained upload connection. A high-quality source file does not mean your internet connection can maintain a high-bitrate live feed. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends testing upload bitrate, checking stream health, and using RTMPS for encrypted delivery. It lists RTMP or RTMPS and H.264, H.265, or AV1 video support; the recommended bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate. Use YouTube’s current stream settings guidance for the values that match your output, rather than guessing from the file’s quality.
- Connection: Use the server URL and stream key for the specific event, and use RTMPS when available in your encoder.
- Upload capacity: Test the connection under realistic conditions and leave room for variation; a speed test alone does not prove a connection will sustain the feed continuously.
- Video and audio: Check the stream-health indicators and listen to the live output. Confirm that the encoder’s selected codec and output are supported by YouTube’s current settings guidance.
- Continuity: Check the playlist’s transitions and prepare to restart the feed if the encoder or connection fails.
Make the channel work for a Tamil-speaking audience
The encoder connection is the same whether the channel is in Tamil or another language. Tamil affects how you identify and present the content: write accurate Tamil titles and descriptions, use legible Tamil text in overlays, and add subtitles where they help viewers. Preview the actual output before going public; Tamil fonts and script can render differently across editing and playback software. Check spoken material, music, and visuals for streaming rights as well as correct language presentation. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify a Tamil-specific protocol or mode.

Choose a way to keep the feed running
Compare options by how much control you need, what equipment must stay online, and whether you need a complete replay. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to start; a hardware encoder is optional and more relevant to some higher-production-value workflows. YouTube’s streaming tips.
- StreamNeo: Keeps prerecorded videos playing to YouTube from the cloud, so a home computer does not have to stay on; any quality up to 4K 60fps is included at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free.
- Local encoder software: Offers direct control over playback and output, but the computer, power, internet connection, and encoder need to keep working. Plan who will monitor and recover the stream.
- Optional hardware encoder: Can suit a higher-production-value workflow, but is not necessary for every prerecorded channel.
- Another hosted service: Check its current plan limits, storage, scheduling behavior, maximum stream duration, and recovery process before relying on it for unattended operation. OneStream Live documents a prerecorded-video scheduling workflow for 24/7 YouTube streaming, says this requires an Enterprise plan, and states a maximum scheduled duration of 30 days. Those are vendor-published terms and may change; confirm them with OneStream Live’s 24/7 streaming page.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The event will not start: Check the channel’s verification and live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio, including any live-stream restriction within the previous 90 days.
- YouTube does not receive a feed: Recheck the event’s server URL and stream key in the encoder. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder with the replacement.
- The preview is unstable or stream health is poor: Reduce the output to settings your upload connection can sustain, then test again. Check the encoder and network connection while the feed is running.
- Audio or video is missing: Inspect the source file, playlist selection, encoder input, and live preview. Test the full audio/video path before going public.
- Tamil text is garbled or hard to read: Preview the actual rendered title, overlay, or subtitle using the font and software used for the live output. Replace unsupported fonts or adjust the text treatment before restarting.
- The stream ends unexpectedly: Check the computer or host, power, network, encoder software, and source files. Restart the encoder feed using the event’s current connection details and confirm the preview has recovered.
- The replay is incomplete or missing: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use a local recording and shorter live segments if a reliable archive is important.
- A stream is live but monetization is unavailable: Live-stream rights and monetization eligibility are different checks. Review YouTube’s reused-content and repetitive-content policies and make the channel’s original value apparent.
Plan costs around the outcome you need
Compare the cost of a hosted option with the equipment, electricity, connection, and time needed to run a local encoder. Also account for storage and archiving: YouTube’s archive limit means that a continuous schedule alone may not give you a complete replay. For StreamNeo, every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the feed, and support from the StreamNeo team. Uploaded video is streamed as supplied, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers. The product is the same across plans; only the billing period changes.
| StreamNeo billing period | Price |
|---|---|
| Daily | $0.99 per day |
| Weekly | $2.99 per week |
| Monthly | $9.99 per month |
| 6 months | $49.99 for 6 months |
| Yearly | $89.99 a year |
