Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To stream a church choir concert playlist on YouTube around the clock, send YouTube a continuous audio-and-video feed from an encoder or a cloud service that repeats your recordings. YouTube’s ordinary playlist feature is not documented as an unattended 24/7 livestream loop: you must arrange the repeating source, keep it transmitting, secure rights for the music, and plan for monitoring and recovery.
What a 24/7 choir stream requires
A YouTube livestream needs a source that continuously sends video and audio. YouTube identifies encoder streaming as suitable for concerts, but its guidance does not establish that an ordinary YouTube playlist will automatically loop as a continuous live broadcast. The repeating playlist and its ongoing transmission must be handled by the system you choose.
Before you start, the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction during the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s live-streaming help page also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. YouTube offers mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming; an encoder is the relevant route for a prepared, continuous concert feed. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
Clear music rights before configuring the stream
Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every part of the broadcast, including the compositions, arrangements, choir performances, recordings, and any other included material. Rights must cover livestreaming and, if you keep or publish an archive, that use as well. A general church music license should not be assumed to cover every work, territory, or online use; check the actual scope with the relevant rights holders or licensing organization.

YouTube says the content provider is responsible for obtaining necessary rights for live and archived content, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate a broadcast, and a license does not by itself guarantee that YouTube will allow the stream to continue without further action. For licensed third-party material, ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist. Choose a source and encoder for the job
Pick a system that can repeat your prepared recordings and continue sending a stable feed. You can use encoder software on a computer, compatible dedicated hardware, or a cloud service designed to keep prerecorded video streaming. Verify the current YouTube compatibility and repeat or playlist behavior in the chosen encoder’s documentation, then test the exact workflow: YouTube’s guidance does not specify a minimum computer configuration or validate one universal looping setup.

| Approach | What it does | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a computer | Sends a computer-generated feed that an operator can configure and monitor. YouTube lists OBS among encoders with HLS output. | Current YouTube ingestion support, repeat behavior, audio stability, computer capacity, operator familiarity, and recovery after a restart. YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions · YouTube Help: Stream with an encoder. |
| Hardware encoder | A dedicated device option for a higher-production workflow. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; this is an option, not a requirement for a playlist. | Compatibility, input and output needs, audio routing, long-running operation support, monitoring, recovery, purchase cost, and support. YouTube Help: Stream with an encoder. |
| HLS ingestion | A protocol option for compatible encoders and use cases, not a playlist-looping feature. | Encoder compatibility, latency tolerance, configuration complexity, supported codecs, and bandwidth. YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP and has protocol-specific setup requirements. YouTube Help: Use HLS ingest to live stream. |
| Cloud streaming service | Runs the feed away from your local computer, depending on the service’s capabilities. | Confirm that the service supports YouTube, prerecorded video looping, your required quality, recovery behavior, storage, and the billing terms. YouTube’s guidance does not endorse a specific service. |
Compare options on the work your church can reliably handle: setup complexity, recovery after a failure, audio and production quality, rights coverage, and who will supervise the stream. If you consider buying a hardware video streaming encoder, treat it as optional and verify that it supports your planned workflow before purchase. YouTube does not establish a best encoder or a specific computer specification for this use.
Set up the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Configure the livestream there, or schedule it if that suits your launch. YouTube documents reusable stream settings and keys, scheduling, and auto-start and auto-stop controls for encoder streams. These controls do not establish that a stream will recur automatically or stay online indefinitely. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream key into your encoder. YouTube describes the key as the information the encoder uses to send the feed to YouTube. Keep it private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Configure the repeating source. In the encoder or its playlist source, add the choir concert recordings in the desired order and set the source to repeat. Exact controls vary by encoder, so consult its current documentation and verify that the playlist continues into another cycle without stopping or losing audio.
- Match the encoder’s output to YouTube’s current requirements. Check YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings and the encoder’s supported formats. Do not assume that a protocol choice such as HLS makes a stream loop or improves its continuity.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that YouTube receives both picture and sound before making the stream public. Use the scheduled or public visibility you intend for the channel.
Keep the stream key secure, and treat YouTube’s scheduling and auto-start/auto-stop options as stream-management controls rather than a substitute for a working repeat source or recovery plan.

Test the full broadcast path before launch
- Start the encoder before the planned launch and check the preview in Live Control Room.
- Confirm the watch page is accessible on the devices your congregation is likely to use.
- Listen for clean, continuous audio and watch for video freezes, black frames, or breaks when the playlist changes recordings.
- Check the network’s upload capacity under realistic conditions, leaving headroom rather than using all available upload bandwidth.
- If you keep a local recording, verify that the archive is intact and that its audio and video are usable.
- Write down who will monitor the stream and what they should do if the encoder, network, or YouTube connection fails.
YouTube recommends preparing encoders in advance, testing, previewing, checking upload capacity, confirming viewer access, and monitoring audio and video. These steps improve preparation; they are not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service. YouTube Help: Stream with an encoder.
Plan for archives and copyright checks
If YouTube archives the stream, review the recording and your rights position after the broadcast. YouTube says Content ID claims may be made after a livestream is complete. Keep a process for checking claims and responding through the appropriate rights holder or YouTube process; do not assume that a stream that remained live is automatically cleared for replay. Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube receives no feed | Check that the encoder is running, the stream key is current and entered correctly, and the network connection is available. | Correct the encoder or key configuration, then confirm that the Live Control Room preview receives the feed. |
| The stream starts but stops between recordings | Check the encoder’s playlist repeat behavior and whether it exits after the final file. | Configure the source to repeat, then test a complete transition from the last recording back to the first. |
| Picture continues but audio drops or changes | Check the playlist’s audio tracks, encoder audio routing, and transitions between files. | Test each recording and a full playlist cycle while monitoring the actual YouTube preview. |
| A broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match | Review YouTube’s notice and identify the matched material. A license may still require the rights owner to allowlist the channel. | Contact the rights owner about the channel allowlist and confirm that the license covers the livestream and any archive. Do not restart with the same material until the rights issue is addressed. |
| The stream disconnects or becomes unstable | Check upload capacity, the local network, encoder status, and whether the device is able to run continuously. | Restore the connection and follow the recovery plan; test the revised setup before relying on it unattended. |
