1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor the most dependable handoff, join the worship clips into one continuous video file before the service, then play that file into your stream. This removes the need for a media player to stop one file and start another during the service. It is not a guarantee of gapless audio: inspect the clip boundaries and test the finished file on the system you will use live.
Why one continuous file is the safest starting point
A playlist makes the player switch from one file to another. A single joined file removes that inter-file handoff from the live playback path. The actual result still depends on the source files, their timing and the playback chain, so verify the output rather than assuming every join will be seamless.
FFmpeg offers two relevant approaches: its concat demuxer, which can join compatible files without re-encoding, and its concat filter for cases where the inputs need to be made consistent through re-encoding. The right choice depends on the files you have.
Prepare the worship set before service
- Put the clips in worship order. Check the beginning and end of each file for silence you do not want in the service. Decide whether any intentional pause should remain; a technically continuous file can still contain silence that is part of the source material.
- Check whether the files are compatible. The concat demuxer requires the same streams, including codecs and time bases. Compare the files’ stream layouts and make sure their duration metadata is reliable. FFmpeg notes that unequal stream lengths can leave gaps, and incorrect stored durations can cause artifacts.
- Choose the joining method. Use the concat demuxer when the files meet its compatibility requirements and you want to avoid re-encoding. If formats or stream layouts differ, use the concat filter workflow and re-encode as needed. The filter involves encoding, so review the output for both quality and audio continuity.
- Listen across every join. Play the completed file and listen at each point where one clip used to end and the next begin. Pay attention to both unwanted silence and cut-off audio.
- Test through the service playback system. Play the file through the same computer and audio route you plan to use for the live stream. Check that the stream receives the intended sound and that transitions remain acceptable in that actual setup.
Choosing a workflow
| Approach | What it does | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg concat demuxer | Sequences compatible files and adjusts timestamps; suitable joins do not require re-encoding. | Files need matching stream layouts and reliable durations. Unequal stream lengths or incorrect durations can cause gaps or artifacts. |
| FFmpeg concat filter | Joins files in a workflow that can re-encode them when needed. | Review the encoded output for quality and listen at every former boundary. |
| OBS VLC Video playlist | OBS supports an ordered playlist through its VLC Video source; VLC must be installed. | OBS documents playlist support, not a guarantee of gapless transitions. Test the actual clips and playback chain. |
| Church presentation software schedule | Church Presenter supports local media, preview and scheduled items for preparation and display. | Scheduling makes items easier to prepare and recall; its guide does not promise silence-free transitions between separate videos. |
If you want to keep a playlist
OBS’s VLC Video source can play a playlist of media items, provided VLC is installed. That is a convenient alternative when you need separate clips, but the documented feature does not establish that audio will transition without a gap. Test the playlist on the machine and audio route used for service, especially at every boundary.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Church Presenter is another option for church media. Its guide recommends loading media before the service because VLC may briefly read a file header the first time it opens a file. Its scheduling feature can make a media file or URL quicker to prepare, but it does not establish gapless handoffs between separately scheduled videos.
Troubleshooting gaps and artifacts
- There is a pause at a join in the finished file: inspect the original clips for silence at their ends or beginnings, then check the output at the same point. If you used the concat demuxer, verify stream compatibility and duration metadata; mismatched stream lengths and inaccurate durations can affect timestamps.
- The demuxer rejects the files or the output behaves unexpectedly: compare their streams, codecs and time bases. If they do not meet the demuxer’s compatibility conditions, use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes as needed, then listen to the result.
- The joined file plays smoothly in one application but not in the live stream: test it through the actual service playback system and audio route. The playback path, not just the file, needs to be checked before the service.
- A playlist pauses between separate items: that behavior is not ruled out by OBS’s playlist documentation. Try a single prepared file if avoiding an item-to-item handoff is the priority, or test the playlist on the target system before relying on it.
- A file starts slowly the first time: load it before the service and confirm playback in advance. Church Presenter’s guide notes that VLC may briefly read a file header on first opening.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with recorded worship video, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded video; it does not go live from a camera. This does not replace preparing and checking your worship set for the transitions you want.
