You can stream a Gujarati radio program on YouTube throughout the day by sending the station’s audio and a visual feed through an encoder, creating a live event in YouTube Studio, and keeping the encoder, power, internet connection, and monitoring in place. Before setting it up, clear the music rights for YouTube streaming and any archive: terrestrial radio permission alone may not cover an online simulcast.
Before you start: clear the music rights
Rights are the first gating issue, not a technical setting. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights. The terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read YouTube’s live-stream terms.
For each recording or repertoire you plan to play, confirm that permissions cover the sound recording and the underlying composition and lyrics, YouTube live streaming, the territories where viewers may watch, and any retained replay. Permission for terrestrial radio or a consumer music subscription should not be treated as proof of online simulcast rights.
Content ID can interrupt a licensed stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, a warning to stop using the material, or a temporary interruption or termination if the material remains. A strike can also terminate a live stream. YouTube says licensees should ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license or geographic restrictions does not itself prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. If you archive the broadcast, Content ID claims on the archived stream are made after it ends. See YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming copyrighted content.

If the station is based in India
Check the scope of each applicable license directly with rights holders and qualified counsel. The Indian Performing Right Society says platforms using music, including online streaming and OTT platforms, need a license for its repertoire and/or payment of the author royalty share for its author members; its guidance concerns rights in the musical and literary works associated with recordings. See IPRS.
PPL India describes its radio broadcast license as covering PPL sound recordings on terrestrial FM and community radio stations. Its tariff information separately addresses digital or non-physical use and says an on-ground-use license does not permit digital use. These are reasons to ask PPL and the relevant owners specifically about YouTube or webcast rights—not evidence that a terrestrial license covers them. PPL India FAQ · PPL India tariff.

India’s Copyright Rules set out a statutory notice and royalty process for broadcasting organizations using section 31D. Do not assume that this provision or a terrestrial arrangement automatically settles a YouTube simulcast; confirm whether it applies to your facts and what current requirements apply. Prepare the station’s audio and video feed
YouTube’s encoder workflow offers more customization and control than a simple mobile or webcam stream. It can suit a station that already has a console or program output and wants to send its broadcast audio alongside a visual such as station identity or a program image. The feed must be audio-video; sending radio audio alone is not the complete YouTube live setup. The right connection depends on the equipment your station already has, so check that the encoder accepts its actual audio output and lets you monitor the signal.

YouTube also describes a webcam or mobile path as a simpler alternative. Whichever route you use, make sure the program audio reaches the stream and that someone can check the outgoing signal. The official setup guidance does not establish a bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, internet speed, or specific encoder model for your station, so do not copy arbitrary settings from an unrelated setup. Follow the encoder’s current instructions and any requirements shown in YouTube Studio.
Set up the YouTube live event
- Enable live streaming in advance. If this is the channel’s first live stream, verify the account and enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned launch. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room beforehand and confirm the channel can go live. YouTube for Artists’ live-stream guidance.
- Create the viewer-facing broadcast. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the live event and choose its title, description, visibility, and start time. Check the current Studio labels and prompts, which can change.
- Connect the encoder to the event. Enter the stream details shown for the event into the encoder, then start sending the station’s audio-video feed. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to the channel. The exact controls depend on the encoder you use.
- Check preview and status before going public. Confirm that the preview shows the intended visual and that the audio is present and at a usable level. Review Live Control Room status or warnings before announcing the stream.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Keep the encoder running and arrange operator coverage or an alerting process to catch lost audio, encoder failure, or a power or network interruption.
What “all day” requires operationally
A YouTube broadcast is the viewer-facing event; the encoder sends the incoming feed. YouTube’s API documentation distinguishes a liveBroadcast from a liveStream, and notes that a stream can be reused for multiple broadcasts. It gives the example of keeping a 24/7 live feed running while creating a separate broadcast for an interview. That arrangement can provide a distinct page for a special segment, but it does not mean YouTube runs the station’s encoder: the station still needs to send a valid feed. - Monitor for a silent or distorted program feed, a frozen image, encoder disconnection, and YouTube status warnings.
- Decide in advance whether to retain an archive and ensure your permissions cover the replay as well as the live use.
A continuous format is an operating plan, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. YouTube does not remove the need for a functioning encoder, connection, power, rights, and monitoring.

| Approach | What it suits | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Encoder | A station with an existing program output that wants more control over the audio-video feed. | That the encoder accepts the station’s audio output; that the visual and audio are monitored; and that the setup can run with the planned operator coverage. |
| Webcam or mobile | A simpler setup where the program audio can be routed into the stream. | That station audio reaches YouTube, the account is enabled for live streaming, rights are in order, and the device and connection can stay available for the planned duration. |
Compare candidate setups by their input compatibility, unattended operation, recovery after power or network loss, audio monitoring, and cost. The required bitrate, internet speed, device, and operating cost depend on the station’s equipment and feed; they are not established as one-size-fits-all figures here.
