How to Stream a Looping Fireplace Video with Relaxation Sounds on YouTube Live

Use OBS to loop a prerecorded fireplace video with relaxation sounds on YouTube Live, or use a cloud service if you do not want to leave a computer running.

You can broadcast a prerecorded fireplace video with relaxation sounds as a continuous YouTube Live stream using OBS Studio: create a YouTube broadcast, add the video as a looping Media Source, connect OBS with your stream key, and check the preview and audio before going live. Your computer, power, OBS, and internet connection must remain available for a local stream. For a stream that does not depend on a computer at home, a cloud service is an alternative.

Before you start: check rights and enable YouTube Live

  • Clear every part of the mix. Confirm that you have permission to use the fireplace footage, music, ambient sounds, artwork, and any stock elements in a live stream. Check whether the license covers your intended territories, monetization, and an archived replay. Keep documentation of permissions.
  • Plan for YouTube copyright matching. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination if the matched content remains. A license may not be enough to prevent interruption: the rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. An archived stream can receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
  • Enable live streaming ahead of time. Google’s Full Live Production guide says first-time access may take 24 hours to activate. The timing is an operational note from that guide, whose publication date is not stated; check the current YouTube interface and do not leave activation until the day of your planned stream.
  • Prepare the media. Use a finished video file that already combines the fireplace visuals and relaxation audio, or prepare separate clips and audio in a format OBS can play. Listen through the full loop, including the join between the end and beginning, to catch silence, abrupt cuts, or volume jumps.

Set up the YouTube broadcast

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then enter an accurate title and description and choose the appropriate audience and privacy settings. Labels can change, so confirm the current controls in YouTube Studio.
  2. Keep the broadcast in Live Control Room while you configure OBS. You will use its stream key to send video to the broadcast. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, show it on screen, or share it in chat. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube Studio before streaming again.

Configure OBS to loop the fireplace video

  1. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube or YouTube RTMPS as the service, then connect the broadcast using the stream key from Live Control Room. OBS Project’s YouTube setup guide covers the stream-key workflow; check the current OBS and YouTube labels because interfaces may change.
  2. In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source. Give it a recognizable name, choose the fireplace video file, and enable Loop. If the video already includes the relaxation audio, make sure the source’s audio is not muted.
  3. If you are using separate clips, add each as a source and arrange them in the intended order. Verify transitions and sound levels; a video loop alone does not guarantee a seamless audio loop.
  4. Set the canvas and output resolution and frame rate to suit the prepared video and your available upload bandwidth. In Settings > Output > Streaming, check the encoder, bitrate, and keyframe interval against YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance. Recommendations can change, so do not copy an old bitrate or resolution preset without checking that guidance and testing your connection. The sources here do not establish a single best setting for every video or connection.
  5. Use OBS’s audio mixer to confirm the media source is producing sound and that levels are not clipping. Make a short test if you can, especially when the video and audio are separate or the stream is intended to run unattended.

Start the stream and verify what viewers receive

  1. In OBS, select Start Streaming. Return to Live Control Room and wait for the incoming preview.
  2. Check the preview and stream health before using YouTube’s Go Live control where required by the broadcast settings. Confirm that the picture is visible, the relaxation audio is audible, the correct broadcast is selected, and the title and audience settings are right.
  3. For a local broadcast, keep OBS open and the computer powered, connected to the internet, and awake for the entire stream. Disable sleep or automatic shutdown if the stream is intended to run unattended, and monitor the broadcast when possible.

Plan for long streams and replays

Google’s Full Live Production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends manually recording and uploading streams longer than 12 hours. The guide’s publication date is not stated, so verify current YouTube archive behavior before relying on it. Decide in advance whether you need a replay, and make a separate recording for a longer broadcast rather than assuming YouTube will preserve it. Copyright matching can also affect the archived version.

Choose between local OBS and a cloud stream

OBS is a local, flexible option for creators who want scenes, overlays, a microphone, a camera, or manual switching. It is free software according to the workflow source, but a local stream depends on the computer, power, OBS, and network continuing to work. A cloud service can send uploaded media after setup, removing the need to leave your own computer running; details vary by provider. Both approaches send content to YouTube and remain subject to live matching and archived-stream Content ID claims.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live around the clock. Upload the fireplace video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; it loops the file from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. You can review plans and billing lengths before starting. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Troubleshooting common problems

  • No preview arrives in Live Control Room: confirm OBS is sending to the intended YouTube broadcast and that the stream key is correct. Keep the key private; if you suspect it was exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and reconnect OBS.
  • The picture appears but there is no relaxation sound: check that the Media Source is not muted, that OBS’s audio mixer shows activity, and that the video file itself contains audio if you expect it to. If using separate audio, check its source and playback level.
  • The loop has a gap or abrupt change: inspect the file’s end and beginning and listen to the transition. If the audio and video are separate, check both transitions and their levels rather than assuming the video’s loop setting will align them.
  • The stream stops when you leave: local OBS requires the computer, encoder, network, and power to remain available. Prevent sleep and shutdown, or use a cloud approach if you do not want to keep a home computer running.
  • YouTube interrupts the broadcast or shows a placeholder: review the matched content notice and the rights for every element in the mix. Contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting where appropriate; a license alone does not guarantee that YouTube’s live match will be cleared automatically.
  • The replay is missing or claimed: check YouTube’s current archive handling and whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. For a longer replay, keep a separate local recording and upload it if needed; also review any Content ID notice on the archive.
