To loop a prerecorded yoga video on YouTube Live, use OBS Studio on a computer: add the video as a Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube stream key, and start the broadcast. Your upload speed—not the advertised download speed of your Indian broadband plan—determines which resolution and bitrate you can sustain. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload headroom.
What “looping on YouTube Live” means
OBS repeatedly plays your local video into an encoder broadcast, which YouTube receives as a live stream. That is different from the YouTube player’s Loop control: the player control repeats playback for one viewer and does not broadcast your video live.
This setup is for a prerecorded video, not a live camera session. For a single recording, use OBS Media Source. For a sequence of recordings, use OBS’s VLC Video source with a playlist.
Check your channel and prepare the stream
Confirm livestream access
Your YouTube channel must be verified and eligible to livestream, with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Create a stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create → Go live to open the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream.
- Copy the stream key shown in the encoder setup. The key connects OBS to your YouTube broadcast; treat it like a password. Do not display it in the video or share it.
YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the workflow. You can configure OBS before the stream is scheduled, but use the key for the intended broadcast.
Set up the looping source in OBS
Loop one video file
- In OBS, create or select a scene. Under Sources, select + → Media Source.
- Name the source, select the local yoga video file, and enable Loop in the source properties. Adjust its fit or crop in the preview so the full pose remains visible.
- Check the audio in OBS’s mixer. Set a comfortable level without clipping, and confirm the recording has no unintended silent or abrupt sections before repeating it.
OBS documents the Media Source Loop control in its Media Sources reference.

Loop several clips in sequence
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In the scene, select + → VLC Video, add the video files to the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist.
- Preview the playlist from beginning to end. Confirm the clip order, transitions, framing, and audio levels before going live.
Choose a YouTube-compatible output
In OBS’s Settings → Stream, choose the YouTube service or YouTube RTMPS, then select or enter the stream key. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the encoder connection to Google’s servers. In Settings → Output, choose an H.264 video encoder and set the video bitrate based on your tested upload capacity. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations list these H.264 video bitrates:
| Output | Recommended video bitrate | Minimum video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 480p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 0.4 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s listed video bitrates, not a guarantee that a particular connection will sustain them. Your total stream bitrate also includes audio. Choose a resolution that keeps movement and alignment clear at the screen sizes your viewers use, while leaving enough network capacity for a stable stream.

Measure Indian broadband upload speed before choosing bitrate
Run an upload-speed test from the computer and network you plan to use, ideally at the same time of day as the broadcast. YouTube says total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends about 20% headroom. For example, a 6 Mbps total stream needs roughly 7.5 Mbps of available upload capacity to preserve that margin; include audio in the total. If you plan a backup stream, account for its bitrate too.
- Measure upload speed, not just download speed. A plan’s advertised download rate does not establish how much upload capacity your stream has.
- Test while other people and devices are using the household connection as they normally will. Shared Wi-Fi and concurrent uploads can reduce capacity or cause disruption.
- Check whether your provider’s fair-usage policy reduces speed after a threshold. TRAI says providers must disclose typical upload and download speeds and that at least 90% of measured test samples during testing must meet or exceed the declared typical speed. TRAI does not prescribe a universal minimum broadband speed; it points consumers to its MySpeed app or portal for measurement. See TRAI’s BroadBand FAQ.
If the connection is unstable, reduce the bitrate or resolution and test again rather than relying on a brief high speed-test result. A wired connection may avoid some Wi-Fi variability, but it cannot fix insufficient or unstable service from the broadband provider.

Test, go live, and monitor the broadcast
- Schedule or create an unlisted test stream in YouTube Studio and connect OBS using the stream key.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm the video is moving, framing is correct, audio is audible, and the loop or playlist behaves as intended.
- Open the unlisted broadcast on a second device to check the viewer experience and synchronization.
- When the test is clean, set up the intended public or scheduled broadcast and start streaming from OBS. Keep the Live Control Room open to monitor stream health.
- If the local broadband connection drops, restore the connection and reconnect OBS. YouTube warns that connectivity disruption can break a stream, so have a reconnection plan.
YouTube recommends testing before the event and monitoring stream health while live. Its encoder settings guidance and streaming tips cover encoder setup and network considerations.

Use a yoga recording, music, and other visuals only if you have the rights needed to broadcast them live. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it; an archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast.

If you have permission to use third-party material, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a license alone may not prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Troubleshoot common looping-stream problems
- You cannot start a broadcast: Confirm the channel is verified and eligible, and that initial livestream activation has completed. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- OBS connects, but YouTube has no picture: Check the selected scene and source visibility, confirm the file is loaded, and make sure OBS is using the stream key for the intended broadcast.
- The stream buffers or loses health: Check available upload capacity at broadcast time, include audio in the bitrate total, and reduce output bitrate or resolution if needed. Other household traffic and fair-usage speed reductions can affect the connection.
- The video stops at the end: Reopen Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For multiple clips, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source.
- OBS cannot use the VLC playlist: Install VLC and match its architecture to OBS; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the broadcast: Check for third-party music, footage, or other matched content. Resolve the rights issue; if the use is licensed, ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting.
