Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can run an audiobook-style podcast archive as a continuous YouTube livestream by sending a playlist or recording through an encoder connected to YouTube Studio. But do not rely on YouTube to save the whole 24/7 session: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep an independent recording and publish replayable episodes or segments separately.
Before you stream: confirm the rights
Make sure you have the rights needed for the specific use you plan: a continuous YouTube livestream, in the territories where it will be available. Podcast distribution permission does not necessarily cover livestreaming on YouTube. Check rights for the recording, the underlying text or other work, the performance, and any music or other third-party material.
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights and other royalty participants. Keep written records of permissions, territories, and permitted uses.
Choose a setup for the continuous feed
You need an audio/video source, a way to send it to YouTube, and a separate plan for making recordings viewers can replay. For an audiobook-style archive, the stream can be audio-led, but YouTube still receives a live video feed; prepare an appropriate visual rather than assuming an audio-only connection is enough.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Approach | Useful when | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Computer and software encoder | You already have a computer that can play the archive and send a stream. | Continuity depends on the computer, power, network, and software staying available and recovering as needed. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | You need a dedicated device for a higher-production-value setup. | It adds equipment and compatibility decisions. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, not as a requirement for a simple audio-led archive. See YouTube’s encoder guidance. |
| Cloud streaming service | You want the feed to continue without leaving a home computer on. | Check the service’s platform support, media limits, recovery behavior, and billing before relying on it. |
Whichever encoder you use, YouTube’s workflow requires its server URL and stream key. Do not share the key: someone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
Set up the YouTube livestream
- Prepare the archive. Organize the recordings into a playlist or a single continuous program. Confirm that the files play correctly in sequence and that the rights for each item cover the intended livestream use.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio’s live-stream setup and create or schedule the broadcast. Obtain the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. YouTube’s labels and layout can change; use the current live-control-room workflow.
- Connect the encoder. In the encoder’s streaming settings, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Select the prepared playlist or program as the source, then start the encoder and verify that the incoming preview appears in YouTube Studio.
- Go live and check playback. Start the broadcast from Studio when the preview and audio are correct. Open the public watch page on another device to confirm that viewers can hear and see the feed as expected.
- Enable DVR if viewers need to pause or rewind. YouTube says DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during a live stream. Test it on the actual broadcast before presenting the feed as a navigable listening archive. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
YouTube’s Live API documentation describes a continuous 24/7 feed with a separate broadcast for an interview that is also part of that feed. That architecture can suit a channel that wants an always-on stream plus distinct event broadcasts, but it requires additional workflow planning. See YouTube Live API guidance.

Keep a recording and publish replays separately
YouTube’s automatic archive is not a dependable backup for a 24/7 session. Its guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous day-long broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed full-length replay.
- Record the program independently, using the encoder or another recording method appropriate to your setup.
- Check that the local recording file is being created and continues to grow while the stream runs.
- Plan how to turn the recording into replayable videos. Separate episodes or manageable segments are easier to find and replay than one uninterrupted day-long file.
- Monitor available storage and confirm the recording can be opened before deleting source files or treating it as your only copy.
YouTube’s livestream tips also advise monitoring audio/video quality and checking the integrity and growing size of local archive files. The platform guidance does not prescribe a recording format, storage design, or splitting interval; those depend on your source material and technical setup. See YouTube’s livestream tips.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop streaming the material; if the content remains, the stream can be temporarily interrupted or terminated. An archived livestream can also receive a Content ID claim after it ends.
If you have a licence, that alone may not prevent an automated interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm this with the rights owner before launch, and do not assume that a claim or interruption can be resolved while the feed continues uninterrupted. Read YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming restrictions.

Understand monetization separately from permission
Having permission to stream material does not guarantee that a channel or livestream will qualify for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and assess whether content is original and authentic. The July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content”; repetitive or mass-produced material, or material reused without meaningful additions, can be ineligible. YouTube may also review the channel’s theme, videos, watch time, metadata, and other material.
For an archive built from readings or podcast episodes, make the channel’s original contribution clear and review the current YouTube channel monetization policies. Copyright authorization and monetization eligibility are separate questions.
