Enable livestreaming on your channel, create a live stream in YouTube Studio, connect the cloud service with your YouTube stream URL and key, then preview and start the broadcast. The playlist becomes an encoder feed—not an ordinary YouTube playlist playing on its own.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube requires channel verification and no livestream restriction in the prior 90 days. First-time livestream enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-stream eligibility requirements.
- Video files you have the right to broadcast, plus a cloud service that accepts prerecorded files or playlists and sends them to YouTube Live.
- A YouTube live stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
A cloud platform runs the encoder workload remotely; it does not remove the need to set up the YouTube broadcast or secure the stream key. Check a service’s supported file formats, resolution limits, playlist controls, recovery behavior, and current plan terms before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.

These services have different jobs; the available documentation does not settle current prices, uptime commitments, or every plan limit. Compare continuous playlist automation, whether a local computer must remain on, accepted media formats and resolutions, recovery and monitoring, scheduling, and archive handling before choosing.

Set up the YouTube Live broadcast
- Enable livestreaming: verify the channel and enable live streaming in YouTube. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement to take effect. Confirm the channel has no livestream restriction in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s eligibility requirements.
- Create or schedule the stream: open YouTube Studio and create a livestream in the Live Control Room. Scheduling can create an upcoming watch page for viewers. Follow the steps shown in YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- Copy the stream URL and key: use the values shown in the live stream settings and enter them only in the cloud platform’s YouTube connection fields. Keep the key private; rotate it in YouTube if it has been exposed.
- Add the video or playlist to the cloud service: upload the files or arrange them in the intended order using that service’s interface. Confirm its documented file and resolution limits rather than assuming every format is accepted.
- Preview before going live: start the cloud feed and check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and the correct stream. Then start the broadcast in the control room if the scheduled workflow requires it. Do not assume that sending an encoder feed alone completes every YouTube live-control step.
Plan for looping, archives, and interruptions
Check how the playlist repeats
A continuous broadcast depends on the cloud service’s playlist and looping controls. Confirm the playback order, whether the final item loops to the first, and what the service does if a file fails or the connection drops. YouTube’s encoder listing establishes that Gyre is intended for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, but it does not establish detailed recovery behavior for every provider.
Keep your own archive when the recording matters
YouTube says live streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. If you need a durable copy, keep a separate local or cloud archive rather than relying on the live replay. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Account for rights checks and monetization review
You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast every part of the playlist, including music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if a match remains. Even licensed material may require the rights owner to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright guidance for live streams.

Troubleshooting common problems
- YouTube does not show the incoming feed: confirm livestreaming is enabled, the stream URL and key match the active broadcast, and the cloud service is sending the feed. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The preview is black or has no sound: check that the selected file plays correctly in the cloud service, the intended playlist item is active, and the feed is reaching the Live Control Room. Check the service’s supported formats if upload or playback fails.
- The stream is interrupted for copyright: identify the matched material and confirm broadcast rights. If the content is licensed, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist.
- The livestream is unavailable to viewers: check the channel’s live eligibility and YouTube Studio’s stream status. A restriction in the prior 90 days can affect eligibility.
- The live replay is missing: streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived automatically. Use a separate recording or archive for content you need to retain.
- The stream stops when a video ends: check the cloud service’s looping and playlist settings. A YouTube live stream is an encoder feed; YouTube does not automatically turn an ordinary playlist into a continuous live broadcast.
