What you need for a continuous YouTube Live playlist
A continuous broadcast has two parts: a prerecorded program made from your training videos, and an encoder or service that sends that program to YouTube Live. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. Its encoder guidance covers software and standalone hardware encoders, and identifies Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos.
Choose a method based on where the stream should run. A local software encoder depends on the computer running it; a cloud service can keep the feed going without a computer at your location. Playlist import, ordering, transitions, and recovery behavior vary by tool, so check those controls in the encoder or service you choose.
Prepare your channel and training videos
Check live-streaming eligibility
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours. Confirm access before scheduling training or promising viewers a start time. Confirm video and audio rights
Make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast every video, soundtrack, voice-over, and other included material. A video used internally for training is not automatically cleared for public streaming. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright requirements and any permissions or licenses that govern your content before sending it live.
Build and test the program
Arrange the training videos in the intended order and decide what should happen when the final video ends: repeat the playlist, hold on an end card, or stop the broadcast. The exact repeat and transition controls depend on the selected encoder or service; YouTube’s general encoder instructions do not prescribe a common playlist workflow for every product. Test the full sequence, including audio levels and transitions, before relying on it for a training session.

Set up the continuous live stream
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create or select the stream you plan to use. You can schedule it in advance if viewers need a watch link before the broadcast.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder or streaming service. Treat the key like a password: it lets the encoder connect to the correct YouTube stream, so do not share it publicly. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain this connection.
- Configure the video playlist in your chosen tool. Add or select the training videos, set their order, and enable continuous playback or looping if the tool provides it. Check any options for transitions, gaps, and what happens if a video fails to play. These details differ between tools.
- Start the encoder or cloud service, then inspect the preview. Confirm that the picture, sound, and stream status look right in Live Control Room before going live.
- Select Go Live in YouTube Studio. Once the preview is ready, start the broadcast and check that the watch page is accessible to the intended audience. YouTube recommends testing before an event and checking playback on channel or watch pages and mobile devices; see its live-streaming tips.
Plan monitoring, archives, and long-running sessions
Continuous operation still needs an owner and a plan for interruptions. Monitor audio and video while the stream is live, and decide who will respond if the feed stops, the playlist stalls, or viewers report a problem. Test the recovery process rather than assuming every encoder handles interruptions in the same way.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, do not assume the same automatic archive treatment: DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable. If viewers need a replay or the ability to rewind during training, plan to divide the broadcast into shorter sessions or make a separate recording, then test the result. 2. A local software encoder
A software encoder running on a computer is a direct route if you want to manage the feed yourself. YouTube supports this encoder category, but the computer and its internet connection must remain available for the broadcast. Use the encoder’s own documentation for playlist setup and recovery options; YouTube does not prescribe identical controls across software products. You do not necessarily need to buy a new or dedicated computer if you already have a suitable machine.

3. Standalone hardware encoder
YouTube also supports standalone hardware encoders. This is another local setup, so check the device’s capabilities and instructions for continuous prerecorded playback, playlist control, and interruption recovery before choosing it. YouTube’s general guidance establishes the encoder category, not a feature-by-feature comparison of devices.
4. Other cloud services
YouTube’s encoder list names Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. Compare any cloud service’s playlist controls, recovery behavior, archive workflow, and price directly with its current documentation; YouTube’s guidance does not establish a neutral feature or cost comparison between services.
