Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo loop prerecorded product demos as one continuous YouTube Live broadcast, put compatible files in an FFmpeg concat manifest, read that playlist at real-time speed, loop it indefinitely, and send the encoded output to YouTube’s RTMPS ingest with the stream key from Live Control Room. Your computer and FFmpeg process must remain running for this do-it-yourself method; a local process alone does not guarantee YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.
What you need before starting
- FFmpeg installed on a computer that can stay powered on and connected to the internet for the broadcast.
- Local copies of the product demo videos, prepared to meet the concat demuxer’s compatibility requirements.
- A YouTube channel configured for live streaming and access to its Live Control Room.
- A stable upload connection with enough capacity for the full video and audio bitrate, plus headroom.
YouTube’s encoder guidance describes continuous live streams from an existing content library. Its automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours; do not assume the same automatic archiving for longer broadcasts. Plan separately for stream continuity and for retaining a replay. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Prepare a compatible playlist
Create the concat manifest
In a working folder, create a plain-text file named playlist.txt with one entry per video, in the order you want them played:
file 'demo-01.mp4'
file 'demo-02.mp4'
file 'demo-03.mp4'
Use paths relative to the manifest when practical. The concat demuxer reads listed inputs sequentially, but it is strict: the files need matching streams, codecs, and time bases. Timestamp adjustment depends on each file’s duration, so incorrect duration metadata can cause artifacts or gaps. If a set of demos differs in codec, stream layout, or timing, normalize it to a consistent format before relying on the playlist. Consult FFmpeg’s concat demuxer documentation.

Handle paths carefully
For filenames with spaces or special characters, use valid concat-demuxer quoting and test the manifest locally. The command below uses -safe 0 to relax path safety restrictions. Use that option only with a playlist you control; a manifest containing untrusted paths should not be treated as safe input.
Get the YouTube ingest details
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room.
- Create or select the live stream and locate its stream key and server URL in the encoder settings.
- Use the RTMPS server URL when it is available. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the secure extension to RTMP.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password, and reset it in Live Control Room if it is compromised.
Do not paste a real key into a public script, repository, screenshot, or support post. YouTube’s setup and key guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Run FFmpeg and loop the playlist
Use this as a starting point, replacing the output address with the RTMPS server URL and stream key shown in your Live Control Room:

FFmpeg documents -re as native-rate input reading and -stream_loop -1 as infinite looping. These are input options, so they appear before -i. See FFmpeg’s command-line documentation.
Adapt bitrate and keyframes to the actual output
The example’s 14 Mbps video bitrate and 60-frame GOP are illustrative for a 1080p30 H.264 stream, not a universal preset. YouTube’s rolling encoder guidance, accessed October 3, 2026, recommends H.264 video at 14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p30, a two-second keyframe interval, and no more than four seconds between keyframes. Match resolution and bitrate to the source, output frame rate, encoder capacity, and connection. YouTube’s supported codecs and current recommendations are listed in its encoder settings guidance.
YouTube recommends CBR encoding. Ensure the total stream bitrate stays below your available upload capacity; its guidance recommends 20% upload headroom. For example, budget for the combined video and audio rate rather than video bitrate alone. If the upload connection cannot sustain the selected rate, lower the output bitrate or resolution and test again.

Test before going public
- Run the command with representative demos, including the fastest motion and loudest or quietest audio in the playlist.
- Check that FFmpeg opens each file and proceeds through the list without errors.
- Inspect the Live Control Room preview for image, sound, and continuity before making the broadcast public.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and warnings during transmission. A running FFmpeg process does not prove YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.
YouTube explicitly advises testing before starting a live stream. Use the Live Control Room as the receiving-side check, rather than relying only on FFmpeg’s local output.
Choose the right YouTube ingest protocol
RTMP/RTMPS is the straightforward route for a typical SDR product-demo stream using supported codecs. HLS is a separate ingest path that may be appropriate for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP. YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency because it sends segments rather than one continuous stream. Its HLS requirements include TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. The FLV/RTMPS command above is not an HLS command; output format and protocol settings must match the selected ingest method. See YouTube’s ingest protocol guidance.
Troubleshoot common problems
FFmpeg rejects a file or the playlist
Check manifest syntax and file paths first. Then verify that every input has matching stream layout, codecs, and time bases. Normalize incompatible demos and confirm duration metadata; incorrect durations can lead to timestamp artifacts or gaps.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The stream has gaps, glitches, or jumps at file boundaries
Boundary problems can come from incompatible media properties or inaccurate duration metadata used for timestamp adjustment. Normalize the files to a consistent format and test the full sequence locally before transmitting it.
YouTube reports poor stream health or the connection drops
Check available upload capacity against the total stream bitrate, leaving the recommended 20% headroom. Lower bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the target. Confirm you are using the correct ingest URL and a valid key, then inspect the Live Control Room preview and health warnings.
The key no longer works or may have been exposed
Retrieve the current key from Live Control Room. If you believe the key has been compromised, reset it there and update the FFmpeg output address before restarting.

You want to use HLS but the command sends FLV over RTMPS
Those are different ingest paths. Select the protocol in YouTube’s encoder workflow and configure a matching output format and transport; do not send an ordinary FLV/RTMP command to an HLS endpoint.
FFmpeg stops or the network fails during a long broadcast
The command loops the playlist, but it does not establish automatic recovery from an FFmpeg crash, network interruption, or YouTube disconnect. YouTube’s stream-health monitoring can reveal a problem, but unattended recovery requires a separately validated process and restart strategy for your FFmpeg build, media, network, and stream configuration. Do not assume the example command alone provides 24/7 reliability.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded playlist to keep a YouTube channel live without leaving a computer or home connection running, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, not a live camera feed. There is no computer to keep on at home, videos stream as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plans. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
