To stream chakra meditation music continuously on YouTube with FFmpeg, loop a music file in real time, send it to YouTube’s current ingest URL with the stream key from Live Control Room, and monitor the encoder and connection. The command below is a starting point, not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming: you also need music rights, a YouTube-accepted audio/video setup, and a plan for failures.
Before you start
- YouTube eligibility: Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable streaming before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips and get-started guide.
- A suitable computer and connection: FFmpeg must remain running on a computer or server with power and a stable upload connection. YouTube recommends upload capacity around 20% above the bitrate you plan to send; see its streaming tips.
- A source you have rights to use: “Meditation,” “royalty-free,” or freely available online does not by itself establish permission for a livestream. You need rights appropriate to the stream and any archive. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights, including music rights.
- A visual track if your setup requires one: If you pair the music with a still image or simple visual, ensure you have permission to use that too. A static picture does not resolve music-rights or repetitive-content concerns.
Configure the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or select a stream using the encoder workflow. Follow the current setup screens in YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Copy the current ingest server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Use the values YouTube provides; do not substitute a guessed URL or reuse a key without confirming it is the one configured for this broadcast.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone with it may be able to submit an encoder feed to your channel. Do not put a real key in a public tutorial, screenshot, shared command, or source-control repository.
- Choose the standard RTMP/RTMPS encoder path unless you have a specific reason to use HLS. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the encrypted extension of RTMP. HLS can be useful for particular codec or HDR cases, but it has higher latency and extra segment and rolling-playlist requirements; see YouTube’s HLS setup guide.
Loop an audio file with FFmpeg
Install an FFmpeg build that supports the codecs and output format you intend to use. In a terminal, run this starting command after replacing the file name, ingest URL, and key with your own values:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i music.mp3
-vn -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
In FFmpeg, -stream_loop -1 requests infinite input looping; -re reads a file at its native rate instead of sending it as fast as possible. Put both options before the input they affect. The official FFmpeg documentation defines a loop value of -1 as infinite. Neither option guarantees a seamless musical boundary, an accepted configuration for every setup, or an automatic process restart.
The example sends audio only. If your encoder workflow needs a video track, add a compatible visual input and map the intended audio and video streams; confirm the resulting format is accepted in Live Control Room. Do not assume that every account or setup accepts an audio-only output.

Set audio and video parameters
The example’s AAC audio settings follow YouTube’s general stereo guidance. Confirm current recommendations in YouTube’s encoder settings guide, and test the actual file and output before relying on a long-running broadcast.
| Setting | YouTube guidance or practical use |
|---|---|
| Stereo audio sample rate | 44.1 kHz recommended |
| Stereo audio bitrate | 128 kbps recommended |
| 5.1 audio sample rate | 48 kHz recommended |
| 5.1 audio bitrate | 384 kbps recommended |
| Keyframe interval for video | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Video bitrate and resolution | Choose a mode supported by the connection and compatible with YouTube’s current guide; test the actual stream rather than assuming a setting will work. |
For a visual track, YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, and a maximum interval of 4 seconds. Use a conservative resolution and bitrate for the available upload connection. YouTube says to leave about 20% upload headroom; the stream can become unstable if other devices or traffic consume that margin.

Test before leaving the stream running
- Check the source file’s start and end. Listen across the loop boundary for clicks, gaps, abrupt changes, or silence. Infinite looping repeats the input; it does not edit or smooth its boundary.
- Start FFmpeg and check that it remains active without errors. In Live Control Room, confirm YouTube receives the feed and review the preview and stream health indicators.
- Open the channel’s watch page and verify that the expected audio and any visual are present. Listen long enough to catch problems beyond the opening seconds.
- Test upload capacity while the stream is running and account for other network use. YouTube’s guidance is to leave roughly 20% headroom, not to run the connection at its limit.
- For continuous operation, arrange a person or monitoring process to notice a stopped FFmpeg process, connection failure, silence, or a lost live state. YouTube advises monitoring a stream; this does not mean FFmpeg automatically restarts after a failure.
Plan for 24/7 operation and archives
A continuous broadcast depends on more than the loop flag: FFmpeg must keep running, the host needs power, the network must remain available, and YouTube must continue accepting the feed. YouTube cautions that a connectivity disruption can break a stream in its streaming tips. Decide in advance how you will detect an interruption and restart the encoder, and test your recovery procedure rather than assuming the command handles it.
Do not count on YouTube saving an indefinite 24/7 event as one complete replay. Its encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not establish that a longer continuous event will be archived as one full video. If retaining the complete program matters, plan a lawful local recording and storage workflow and check YouTube’s current limits in its encoder instructions.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the feed | Incorrect ingest URL or stream key, stream not configured in Live Control Room, or incompatible output | Copy the current values from the selected stream, keep the key private, and inspect FFmpeg output and Live Control Room status. |
| The music plays too quickly | The file is being sent faster than real time | For file input, use -re before -i so FFmpeg reads at the native rate. |
| The loop clicks or has a gap | The source file’s ending and beginning do not join cleanly | Listen to the boundary and prepare a better-edited source; -stream_loop -1 repeats the file but does not make the transition seamless. |
| Stream health becomes unstable | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or competing traffic uses the connection | Reduce the video mode or bitrate if applicable, limit competing traffic, and retain the recommended upload headroom. |
| The stream stops after running for a while | FFmpeg exited, the host or network failed, or YouTube stopped receiving an acceptable feed | Review FFmpeg and Live Control Room status, restore the feed as needed, and set up monitoring for future interruptions. |
| The archive is incomplete or absent for a long event | A 24/7 event exceeds the cited automatic-archive guidance for streams under 12 hours | Do not rely on one complete replay; use a separate lawful recording workflow if a full copy is important. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer and home connection to stay on, StreamNeo runs a prerecorded YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a live camera feed.
