If you want to operate your own hardware
A standalone encoder can avoid a full PC, but do not assume that any device described as a YouTube encoder can also play a file playlist continuously. YouTube’s instructions cover sending an encoder feed, not the file-player, loop scheduler, restart behavior, or unattended recovery of a specific device. Before relying on hardware, verify the complete workflow with its maker.

- Can it play your video files from internal or attached storage and loop a playlist without manual restarts?
- Does it output a YouTube-compatible encoder feed and let you enter YouTube’s stream URL and key?
- Will it reconnect after a network or YouTube interruption, and can you monitor a failed stream remotely?
- What power and internet connection does it require, and can you maintain a separate recording if needed?
- Can the device handle the source resolution and frame rate without unexpected conversion or playback issues?
To configure an encoder, follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance for its current stream URL and key workflow. YouTube’s documentation does not validate a particular standalone model for autonomous prerecorded 24/7 playback. A phone’s documented mobile route is camera-focused, so it should not be treated as a confirmed substitute for a file-looping encoder.
Mobile eligibility and first-time setup
If your plan is to broadcast a live camera view rather than loop stored garba video, YouTube’s published mobile guidance lists these requirements: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, live streaming enabled, and a supported mobile operating system. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours; its general live-stream guidance states that streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube’s current mobile eligibility page and live-stream overview, since requirements can change. These eligibility rules do not turn the mobile camera workflow into an unattended prerecorded-video player.

Clear garba music and video rights before going live
Being able to upload a track or video does not mean you have permission to stream it. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary worldwide rights for use on Google services, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Obtain permissions covering both the video and its music for the territories you intend to serve.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match may trigger a warning and replacement of the stream image; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even if you have a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream to proceed without matching interruptions. Review YouTube’s pages on copyright issues with live streams and livestream terms and conditions.

Plan for YouTube’s archive and DVR limits
A continuous 24-hour broadcast is not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube archive. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams exceeding 12 hours. If preserving the full garba program matters, make a separate recording and consider ending the broadcast before 12 hours and starting another, rather than relying on YouTube to save one unbroken day-long stream. Common problems and fixes
- The phone cannot start a live stream: Check the mobile requirements, channel verification, recent live restrictions, and whether activation has completed. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours; confirm the latest rules on YouTube’s mobile Help page.
- The encoder will not connect: Re-enter the current YouTube stream URL and key in the encoder’s settings. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it through YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The hardware encoder connects but does not play the video: Encoder ingestion alone does not guarantee file playback or looping. Confirm that the chosen device explicitly supports stored-file playback, repeat scheduling, and unattended operation; YouTube’s encoder guide only covers connecting the feed.
- The live image is replaced or the stream stops: YouTube may have detected third-party content. Confirm your rights and ask the rights owner whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting; review YouTube’s copyright guidance.
- The full broadcast is missing from the archive or viewers cannot rewind far enough: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived and DVR may be limited. Keep a separate recording or divide the program into shorter broadcasts.
