For a do-it-yourself setup, your encoder and internet connection must stay available and the stream needs monitoring. YouTube documents how to create and send a live stream, but does not promise that one stream will remain uninterrupted for 24 hours.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and is operated by someone at least 16 years old. Check YouTube’s eligibility details in Get started with live streaming.
- An encoder capable of sending video and audio to YouTube Live. YouTube supports encoder workflows using RTMP or RTMPS; see its current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream bitrate plus headroom. YouTube recommends 20% headroom; if you configure a primary and backup feed, budget for both feeds and that headroom.
- Bhajan recordings and compositions you are entitled to broadcast. Check the rights for the composition and for each particular recording separately.
- A plan for what happens if your computer, encoder, or internet connection fails, and a person or process to monitor the stream.
Prepare a Hindi and Gujarati program viewers can follow
Arrange the playlist intentionally
Build a continuous playlist that makes the language and sequence clear. You could alternate Hindi and Gujarati sets, group them by language and time of day, or publish a repeating schedule such as Hindi bhajans in one block and Gujarati bhajans in another. Choose an order that suits your audience rather than relying on viewers to guess what is playing.
Make the stream metadata specific
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and use a title and description that identify the Hindi and Gujarati programming. If the language changes by time, include the schedule and time zone in the description and keep it accurate when plans change. YouTube allows scheduled streams and editable stream metadata; see Manage live stream settings.
Set up and start the YouTube Live encoder stream
- Confirm eligibility. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions. Allow for YouTube’s first-time live-stream activation process before announcing a start time; consult YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility instructions.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Fill in the title, description, visibility, and other available settings so the stream is recognizable to viewers. The labels and options may vary as YouTube updates Studio; its live-stream settings guide explains the workflow.
- Connect the encoder. In the encoder’s streaming settings, enter the YouTube Live server URL and the stream key shown for the event or stream. YouTube describes the key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed. Treat it like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if it is exposed. Follow Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Choose encoding settings for your connection. Select a resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate supported by your encoder and suitable for the available upload speed. YouTube’s recommendations cover supported codecs and configuration; consult the current settings table rather than guessing a bitrate. Keep total outgoing bitrate below available upload capacity and preserve the recommended 20% headroom.
- Test the full path. Send a representative section of the planned program, check the preview in Live Control Room, and confirm that sound and picture are correct and stream health is acceptable. YouTube recommends testing and previewing before going live; see Streaming tips.
- Start the encoder and monitor. Start the feed from the encoder and confirm that Live Control Room receives it before making the stream public or beginning the scheduled event. Watch for stream-health alerts, playback issues, and rights notices while it is live.
Plan for continuous operation
A 24/7 target needs more than a playlist
In a do-it-yourself setup, the encoder device must remain powered, the encoder software must keep running, and the network must continue uploading. Power loss, software failure, a router restart, or an internet outage can interrupt the feed. A UPS, dependable network equipment, tested restart procedures, and monitoring can reduce operational risk, but they do not make a connection failure-proof.

Know YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a 24-hour uptime guarantee, and the cited YouTube setup guidance does not establish that a single continuous broadcast will remain uninterrupted for a full day. Decide how you will handle interruptions and archive expectations before treating one continuous stream as a permanent channel fixture. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guide and streaming tips.
Clear the rights and monetization issues first
Check both the song and the recording
A traditional or devotional composition and a particular performance or sound recording can involve different rights. Confirm that your permissions cover the exact material and its use in a YouTube live broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights: Livestream terms and conditions.

Understand live Content ID interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may show a warning or replace the feed with a placeholder, and may interrupt or terminate a stream if the material remains. A license may not prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Archived live streams may also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends. Permission does not settle monetization review
Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s reused-content policy is channel-wide, and permission from another creator does not by itself resolve a reused-content review. Its July 15, 2025 update renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and describes repetitive or mass-produced content as ineligible for monetization. Add meaningful original value where appropriate and read YouTube channel monetization policies.

Choose a DIY setup that matches your operating needs
YouTube requires an encoder workflow, not a particular computer or encoder model. Compare options by whether they can run your chosen software reliably, handle your video and audio inputs, sustain the encoding workload, and tolerate power or network disruptions. Troubleshooting common interruptions
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
- Check that the encoder has the correct YouTube server URL and stream key for the selected stream. If the key was exposed or may be wrong, refresh it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Confirm the encoder is actively sending and that the scheduled event is the one open in Live Control Room.
The preview is unstable or stream health is poor
- Check outbound bandwidth under real operating conditions, not just a short speed test. Lower the bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings, and retain the recommended headroom.
- Check wired or wireless network reliability, router and modem interruptions, and competing upload traffic. YouTube’s streaming tips emphasize testing and sufficient outbound bandwidth.
The stream stops unexpectedly
- Check for power interruptions, a sleeping or restarted computer, encoder crashes, network outages, or an exhausted playlist. Review logs and monitoring alerts, then restore the feed and confirm it appears in Live Control Room.
- If YouTube reports third-party content, review the notice and resolve rights or allowlisting with the relevant rights owner; do not assume a license alone prevents Content ID interruption.
The live video works but the archive has a claim
Live scanning and archived-video claims can occur at different times. Check the claim details in YouTube Studio and follow the platform’s rights process; a claim does not by itself establish that your broadcast rights were sufficient or insufficient.
