You can broadcast Kannada children’s stories continuously through OBS by enabling YouTube live streaming, creating a stream in YouTube Studio, configuring OBS to send a prepared video feed with YouTube’s stream key, and keeping the computer and internet connection running. Before going live, clear rights for every story, image, recording, and music track; correctly mark the stream as made for kids when it is intended for children; and test the complete setup in YouTube Live Control Room. A 24/7 broadcast also needs a plan for interruptions and archives: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but does not promise one archive for a stream lasting 24 hours or longer.
What you need for a 24/7 Kannada stories stream
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- A computer running OBS for the entire time you want the stream to remain live.
- Prepared story video or other media arranged in the presentation you intend to broadcast. Test how your chosen OBS sources and transitions behave before relying on them continuously; YouTube’s encoder instructions do not verify a particular OBS looping recipe.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream bitrate, plus spare capacity for network variation.
- Permission to livestream all story text, illustrations, translations, narration, music, and recordings included in the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires creating a stream in YouTube Studio and entering its server URL and stream key in the encoder. The stream key is a credential that authorizes the encoder to send a feed to your channel, so do not share it publicly. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Prepare and configure the broadcast
1. Enable live streaming and create the YouTube event
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and follow the prompts to enable live streaming if it is not already enabled. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow up to 24 hours before expecting to stream.
- Create or schedule the stream in Live Control Room. Set the title, visibility, and other event details for the intended audience.
- Set the audience accurately. If these stories are intended for children, designate the live stream as made for kids in Live Control Room. YouTube requires creators to tell it when content is made for kids; the setting can be applied at channel or video level.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. Keep the key private and use the key belonging to this event or the intended stream configuration.
2. Set up OBS as the encoder
- Open OBS and prepare the scene or scenes that will present the stories. Add the media and any visuals you have permission to use, and test playback, transitions, and audio using the exact files planned for the broadcast.
- Open OBS streaming settings and enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. OBS menu labels and media-loop behavior can vary by version and source type; verify the behavior in your installed version rather than assuming a particular source will repeat indefinitely.
- Choose the output quality and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s guidance is to leave roughly 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
- Start OBS and confirm that the feed arrives in YouTube Live Control Room. Preview the incoming video and listen for clean, continuous audio before making the event public.
3. Test with the real content and audience settings
Use the same story files, audio levels, scenes, and network you intend to use for the long broadcast. Confirm that the stream is accessible to its intended viewers, that the made-for-kids setting is correct, and that the video and audio remain usable through scene changes. YouTube recommends setting up encoders at least two hours before an event, starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event, previewing the feed, checking viewer access, and monitoring audio and video. For a continuous channel, treat these as useful preflight checks, not a promise of 24/7 uptime.
Plan for a truly continuous broadcast
With the OBS method, the computer, OBS, and network connection have to keep working for the stream to continue. Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown for the duration, keep the machine adequately powered and ventilated, and avoid relying on a connection shared with heavy uploads or downloads. YouTube notes that other users sharing a connection and network disruptions can affect streaming.

Plan what should happen if OBS closes, the computer restarts, or the connection drops. Decide who will notice the interruption, how the encoder will be restarted, and whether you will create separate scheduled segments rather than treating the entire 24/7 run as one event. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not establish that a 24-hour-or-longer stream becomes one complete archive. Verify current YouTube behavior and design segment boundaries around the archive and replay experience you need. For streams that are recorded, YouTube recommends checking the resulting archive files.
Set expectations for a made-for-kids livestream
When a stream is designated made for kids, YouTube restricts features including live chat, live chat donations, comments, channel memberships, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. YouTube also says personalized ads are not served on children’s content, which may reduce revenue for some creators. Build the stream around the stories and viewing experience rather than relying on chat or those features.

Clear story and music rights before streaming
A book purchase alone does not establish permission to read, perform, livestream, or archive its contents. Check the rights for the underlying story and any translation, the illustrations shown on screen, your narration or other recordings, and every music track. YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is YouTube’s platform requirement, not individualized legal advice.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. Identified material can trigger a warning, a placeholder, interruption, or termination if it remains in the broadcast. Even if a rights holder has licensed the use, the stream may still be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted through Content ID. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright issues and resolve permissions and any necessary Content ID arrangements before the broadcast.

Check the connection and monitor the stream
- Make sure the total stream bitrate does not exceed available upload bandwidth; leave about 20% spare capacity as YouTube recommends.
- Test on the same connection and at the same output settings planned for the live stream. If other people or devices use the network, account for their traffic.
- Where practical, a wired connection can avoid some wireless-link variability, but it does not guarantee uptime.
- Watch Live Control Room for feed status and check the public or intended-viewer watch page. Continue monitoring audio and video during the broadcast.
- Have a response ready for a dropped connection, OBS crash, silent source, or unexpected scene change. No encoder workflow can ensure that a home computer and network never fail.
Troubleshoot common problems
YouTube does not accept the stream
Check that live streaming is enabled, the event exists in Live Control Room, and OBS has the correct server URL and stream key. If the channel has only just enabled live streaming, activation may still be pending for up to 24 hours. Treat the key as a secret; if you believe it has been exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube’s stream controls and update OBS.
The feed buffers, drops, or becomes unstable
Compare the total stream bitrate with available upload bandwidth and reduce the output demand if it is too close to capacity. Leave YouTube’s recommended roughly 20% headroom, check whether other devices are using the connection, and test for network disruption on the actual streaming setup.

The stream is live but the story is silent or the wrong scene appears
Check the OBS scene and source selection, audio levels, and whether the media source has reached its end or transitioned unexpectedly. Replay the exact sequence in a test stream or preview; do not assume a source loops or restarts in the way you need without verifying it in your OBS version.
The broadcast is interrupted for a copyright match
Identify the matched material and remove or replace it only if you have the rights to do so. If you do have permission, confirm the relevant rights and any Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder; a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.

The archive is missing or incomplete
Do not assume a single archive will cover a continuous stream lasting 24 hours or more. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Check current Live Control Room behavior, consider planned event segments, and verify each archive after the event.
