Razer PC Remote Play streams games running on your Windows PC to an iPhone, iPad, Android device, or supported Windows device. Your PC does the work: this is neither cloud gaming nor a mobile version of the game, so the host must be on and able to run the title. The software is free to use, and a compatible physical controller is strongly recommended.
What Razer PC Remote Play does
The Windows PC renders the game and sends video and audio to your device; your device sends controller or other input back. That means your PC’s performance, the game’s compatibility, and the quality of the network between the devices determine how it plays.
- Not cloud gaming: the game does not run on a Razer server. Your own PC is the host.
- Not native mobile gaming: the phone displays a stream of the PC game rather than running its mobile edition.
- PC libraries: Razer advertises support for Steam, Epic Games Store, PC Game Pass, and more. That does not guarantee that every individual game, launcher, or input method will work without issues.

Windows host PC
Razer’s current product requirements specify Windows 11 version 23H2 or later for hosting. The product page also uses broader Windows 10/11 language for downloads, but that should not be read as confirmation that a Windows 10 PC meets the current host requirement. The PC should be capable of running the game locally, with the game installed and current graphics drivers. Keep Windows and the Razer apps updated, since host and GPU support affect streaming.

For remote access from outside your home, the PC must remain powered on, connected to the internet, and signed in as required by Razer’s setup process. Sleep, hibernation, automatic restarts, or a signed-out session can make it unavailable. Razer’s setup instructions are at How to set up Remote Play.
Phone, tablet, or Windows client
Razer’s product page and 2025 launch announcement position mobile support around iOS 18 and Android 14 or later. However, the product FAQ and Razer support material also mention Android 12. Because Razer’s published Android requirements conflict, check the current app-store listing and support information for your specific device before installing. Razer also describes support for other Windows devices.
Razer says the client can optimize the stream for a device’s resolution and refresh rate without forcing a fixed aspect ratio. This is a feature claim, not a promise that a particular game, PC, network, or phone will sustain its maximum resolution and refresh rate. See the Razer launch announcement.

Controller
A physical controller is the sensible choice for most games; touch controls are not a practical substitute for every PC control scheme. Razer lists Kishi V3 Pro XL, Kishi V3 Pro, Kishi V3, Kishi V2 Pro, and Kishi V2 as compatible. Razer also says other controllers compatible with iOS or Android can work, but support depends on the device, game, and input mode.
A Kishi is optional, not a requirement. For example, the Kishi V3 Pro connects over USB-C, supports pass-through charging, and can be used with streaming apps including PC Remote Play and Steam Link. Razer says its Sensa HD Haptics feature is not currently supported on iOS. Check phone dimensions, connector, case fit, and the game’s controller support before buying any accessory.
Set up Razer PC Remote Play
On the Windows PC
- Install Razer Cortex on the gaming PC and sign in with a Razer ID.
- Open Cortex, go to the PC Remote Play setup or Remote Play section, and enable Remote Play.
- Make sure the games you want are installed and appear in Cortex’s library. If a title is not listed, try adding it to the library or launching it directly on the PC after connecting.
- For initial pairing, put the PC and mobile device on the same local network. If Windows asks whether to allow the app through its firewall, allow the required network access.
On the phone or tablet
- Install Razer Nexus and Razer PC Remote Play from the relevant app store.
- Sign in with the same Razer ID used on the PC. If automatic discovery or pairing does not work, use the PIN-pairing option.
- Connect a compatible controller, open the PC game library in Nexus, choose a title, and start streaming.
When connected, the game runs on the PC and appears on the client device. Razer describes launching games through Nexus and includes resolution and refresh-rate optimization; the options available can depend on the device and game. Razer’s setup announcement outlines the same general process.

Get a stable stream at home
Razer lists 15 Mbps as a minimum recommended bandwidth and more than 30 Mbps as recommended. Treat these as starting points, not guarantees of low latency: a connection can have adequate throughput and still suffer from interference, jitter, or packet loss.

- Put the phone on 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi, preferably near the access point. Avoid congested 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi when you can.
- Close downloads and other bandwidth-heavy activity while playing, and avoid guest Wi-Fi networks that isolate devices from one another.
- Start at 1080p/60 fps or a lower setting. Once the stream is stable, raise resolution or frame rate gradually rather than assuming the phone’s maximum display mode is achievable.
Razer says AV1 support is available on compatible devices and promotes automatic device-resolution optimization. Any benefit depends on support across the host GPU, client device, app, and network; neither feature guarantees a better stream in every setup. Play from outside your home
Remote access may work over cellular or another Wi-Fi network after initial setup, but it depends on the home network as well as the client connection. Your PC must stay on, online, and available; the home router must permit remote connectivity through UPnP or suitable port forwarding. Razer’s setup guidance also identifies public-IP availability as a consideration.

- Home upload matters: the PC sends the video stream outward. A fast download connection on your phone cannot make up for weak upload capacity at home.
- NAT can block access: carrier-grade NAT, double NAT, disabled UPnP, restrictive ISP policies, VPNs, or firewall rules can prevent a connection or require more configuration.
- Travel networks vary: cellular latency, data limits, and restrictive hotel, workplace, or public Wi-Fi can make play unreliable or costly.
Test streaming on your home network before troubleshooting remote access. If you change router settings, use only the forwarding or network access needed for the feature, keep the PC and software updated, and protect your Razer account with strong credentials. Razer does not make remote play a guarantee that every network topology will work.
Game compatibility and performance limits
Library support is not the same as universal title support. A game can be listed by its storefront yet still be awkward or unusable to stream if it relies on keyboard and mouse, uses a launcher that opens outside the expected game window, requires elevated permissions, changes display modes on launch, or has anti-cheat, DRM, overlay, or controller-input restrictions.
If Cortex does not list a game, connect to the PC and try launching the installed title there. If it opens but the client shows a black screen or does not receive input, test another game and check the title’s controller and launcher behavior. Some games are simply a better fit for a keyboard and mouse than a phone controller.

Stream delay can come from several places: game rendering, host video encoding, network transit and Wi-Fi contention, client decoding, controller connection, and frame pacing. A higher bandwidth number alone does not rule out latency or stutter. AV1 can help only when the host, client, and app support it, and demanding high-resolution or high-refresh streams are not realistic for every phone and network.

The PC does not appear or pairing fails
- For initial setup, confirm both devices use the same local network and are not separated by guest-network or client-isolation settings.
- Check that Cortex is running, Remote Play is enabled, and both sides use the same Razer ID.
- Make sure the PC is awake and check whether Windows Firewall blocked the app.
- Try PIN pairing if automatic discovery fails. Multiple routers or double NAT can also interfere with discovery or connection.
It works at home but not remotely
- Check that the host PC is awake, online, and signed in.
- Review whether UPnP is enabled or whether the router needs a suitable manual port-forwarding configuration.
- Ask your ISP whether the connection is behind carrier-grade NAT or lacks a public address; check for double NAT, VPN, and firewall interference.
- Check home upload quality, not just the phone’s download speed.
The picture stutters or controls feel delayed
- Use Ethernet for the PC and 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi for the client; move nearer to the access point.
- Lower resolution or frame rate, close bandwidth-heavy apps, and test without unnecessary VPN traffic.
- Try a less congested Wi-Fi channel or another access point, and check whether the phone is overheating or throttling.
- Update GPU drivers, Windows, Nexus, and PC Remote Play. Interference, jitter, packet loss, encoding load, or client decoding can matter as much as headline bandwidth.
Audio crackles or connections repeatedly fail
Update PC Remote Play and check its current release notes. The iOS listing has mentioned fixes related to audio stutter, connection retries, streaming reliability, and PC audio-output switching; those notes indicate changes to try, not a guarantee that an update will resolve every setup’s issue. The controller works in one game but not another
Confirm that the game accepts controller input; some titles require keyboard and mouse or expect an Xbox-style XInput controller. Compatibility can also differ by operating system and game. Razer’s Nexus virtual-controller option may help in specific Android cases, but if the toggle is unavailable, Razer says the game may not support that input mode. See Razer Kishi support.

Choose Steam Link for a straightforward Steam-focused setup. Razer is a natural fit if you want Nexus integration and to browse games across the PC libraries it advertises. Moonlight with Sunshine is more appealing when client-device breadth and configuration control outweigh convenience.
Is a Razer Kishi necessary?
No. Razer lists several Kishi models, but its launch announcement also says compatible iOS and Android controllers can be used. Consider a Kishi if a telescopic controller that attaches to your phone suits how you play; it is not a prerequisite for the streaming software. If you already own a compatible controller, try it before buying another. A Kishi will not make keyboard-and-mouse games comfortable by itself.

Who should use Razer PC Remote Play?
- A good fit: you have a supported Windows 11 gaming PC, a compatible phone or tablet, and reliable home Wi-Fi; you want to stream games from more than one PC storefront; or you already use Razer mobile hardware.
- Less suitable: your host runs an unsupported Windows version, you cannot leave the PC on, you need remote access through restrictive NAT, you mainly play keyboard-and-mouse games, or you want a TV or unusual client with advanced manual streaming controls.
- Consider another option: Steam Link is a simpler starting point for a Steam-only library; Moonlight and Sunshine suit users willing to configure a more flexible setup.
