- Enter event details. Add a clear title and description, and check the available audience and visibility settings. Set the made-for-kids classification accurately for the content and intended audience.
- Set the time. Choose to start immediately or schedule a date and time. For learners in India, state the time zone explicitly in your announcement. OneStream describes scheduling pre-recorded broadcasts up to 60 days ahead; check its current plan terms because scheduling features and plan availability can change. - Prepare students and check the event. Share the event link and tell learners whether to join at the scheduled time or watch a replay. Before class, check the YouTube event page, visibility, and playback. Arrange a moderator or a separate way to ask questions if students need interaction.
OneStream documents scheduling a connected YouTube channel for a pre-recorded stream, but the cited workflow does not establish a special India-only rule. The teacher needs internet access to upload and set up the lesson; a live camera or encoder does not have to run during the scheduled broadcast.
Check YouTube eligibility before scheduling
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days to stream live. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to enable a channel’s first live stream, so check eligibility well before a class. Its 50-subscriber requirement applies to the mobile live-streaming path—not as a universal threshold for a scheduled cloud stream. YouTube says mobile streams from channels under 1,000 subscribers may have viewer limits, and their archives may default to private. Plan the lesson as an event, not a live class
Set learner expectations
A scheduled recording can help a school or tutor publish a polished lesson at a consistent time and coordinate learners across time zones. But playback itself does not answer questions. Tell students whether someone will be moderating chat, and provide a follow-up channel or a replay option for questions they cannot resolve during the event.
Choose between one event and a sequence
For a single class, schedule one recording and promote its event link. For a series, organize related lessons into a playlist or schedule separate events. These choices create different experiences: a playlist is not necessarily equivalent to separately announced class meetings. Make audience and interaction settings deliberate
OneStream documents a YouTube-only made-for-kids setting among its advanced options. YouTube’s audience classification affects which features are available, including chat and ads. Choose the classification that correctly describes the content; do not choose it to enable interaction or monetization. OneStream also documents a YouTube DVR option that lets viewers pause and rewind during a live stream. Availability of monetization controls does not establish that a channel qualifies to earn revenue.
Protect the replay and source recording
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. An archive is not guaranteed to remain public: visibility settings and channel circumstances matter. Check rights and YouTube rules before the broadcast
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content, including applicable music rights, and to comply with Community Guidelines and applicable laws. Review permission for any third-party music, images, clips, or other material in the lesson before broadcasting it. The terms also address applicable territory licensing, registration, and similar regulatory obligations; they do not replace advice about a particular legal situation. Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- The YouTube channel is missing: Return to Social Platforms, complete the authorization flow for the intended account, and confirm that the channel is shown as connected before creating the stream.
- The first stream cannot start: Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time live-stream enablement rather than waiting until class time.
- Students cannot see the event: Check the event link and YouTube visibility setting, then confirm that the scheduled time and time zone were communicated correctly.
- Students expect live answers: Clarify that the lesson is recorded. If chat is open, arrange moderation; otherwise provide a separate way to ask questions.
- The replay is missing or not public: Check whether the stream exceeded 12 hours, inspect visibility and OneStream’s post-stream deletion setting, and retain the source file. YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured.
- Upload or setup is unreliable: Allow time to upload the source and test playback before the event. YouTube recommends leaving bandwidth headroom—its general streaming tips suggest 20% above the stream bitrate for available upload bandwidth.
