Larix Broadcaster can send a live encoder feed to YouTube, but Softvelum’s official materials describe it as an app for capturing and streaming live video and audio—not as a player for selecting a prerecorded video file. That means a direct “pick a bhajan video and broadcast it” workflow is not confirmed. You can still set up YouTube’s encoder connection in Larix, but verify that your exact phone, operating system, and app version can supply the prerecorded video before relying on it.
What Larix Broadcaster can—and cannot—be confirmed to do
Softvelum describes Larix Broadcaster as an app for streaming live video and audio from smartphones or tablets. Its official setup material documents RTMP publishing and RTMPS support, but does not establish a direct prerecorded-file source in the app. Connecting Larix to YouTube and playing a stored bhajan video into Larix are separate tasks; documentation for the first does not prove the second.
Do not assume that an option seen in a different app version or on one operating system will be available on another. Before planning an event around direct file playback, check the current app on the exact device you intend to use and rehearse the complete video-and-audio path. If it cannot take the file as an input, you will need a different, separately verified playout or encoder workflow.
Prepare YouTube Live before configuring Larix
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or schedule a stream. In Live Control Room, use the current server URL and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube’s instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Choose the RTMPS endpoint where available. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. In Stream settings, use the lock icon to reveal the RTMPS URL, then copy the URL currently displayed in Studio. Do not substitute an old example URL: use the endpoint YouTube provides for your stream. Details are in Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
- Protect the stream key. The key authorizes an encoder to send to your stream and functions like a password. Keep it private; do not publish it, put it in a public screenshot, or send it to anyone who should not control the broadcast.
Set up the YouTube connection in Larix
- Install and open Larix Broadcaster on the phone or tablet you intend to use. App labels and available controls can vary by platform and version, so follow the current interface rather than relying on a menu path from an older release.
- Open Larix’s connection or publishing settings and add a connection using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. Larix’s setup documentation explains the connection URL structure and its YouTube configuration: Larix Broadcaster documentation.
- Use the RTMPS URL if the current Larix version offers RTMPS support for the connection. Confirm the connection is set to send both video and audio; the Larix YouTube example uses video-and-audio mode, as YouTube does not accept video-only or audio-only in that setup.
- Save the connection without exposing its key. A successful connection configuration only establishes where Larix can send an encoder feed; it does not confirm that a stored video can be selected as that feed’s source.
Test the prerecorded video source and its audio
Before scheduling a public bhajan broadcast, test the exact file-input workflow on the intended device. Confirm that Larix—or a separately verified playback and encoding method—can play the entire video into the outgoing feed, including its original sound. Do not treat a phone’s ability to play a video locally as proof that the app can capture that playback and publish it to YouTube.

Larix Screencaster is a separate Softvelum app that streams a device screen, not the same product as Larix Broadcaster. It may be an alternate workflow to test, but screen capture does not guarantee that audio from another app will be included. Softvelum documents platform-specific restrictions on capturing other apps’ sound. Check the current limitations and rehearse picture and sound together before depending on this route: Larix Screencaster.
Rehearse, start, and end the broadcast
- Make a private or unlisted rehearsal. Start the encoder and wait for the YouTube preview. Check that the intended bhajan video appears, its sound is audible and synchronized, and the stream can be opened from its watch page on another device.
- Check playback beyond the encoder screen. Confirm the stream on a phone or other mobile device as well as the device running the encoder. Watch for silent playback, a frozen image, unexpected screen notifications, or a source that stops when the app changes state.
- Monitor while live. YouTube recommends previewing before going live and continuously monitoring audio and video. Keep an eye on Live Control Room and verify that the actual program—not merely a connected encoder—is reaching viewers. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Start and end deliberately. If the stream is scheduled, click Go live in Live Control Room after the preview is correct. When finished, stop the encoder and end the stream in YouTube. YouTube automatically archives streams that are under 12 hours.
Encoder settings to check
Use settings supported by the actual encoder and network rather than choosing the highest available values by default. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, AAC or MP3 audio, a recommended two-second keyframe interval, and a four-second maximum. The precise available settings depend on the encoder and its device support. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and verify what your Larix version exposes.

- Bitrate and resolution: Select values the device and internet connection can sustain. No single bitrate or resolution is guaranteed for every phone, file, or connection; rehearse under conditions close to the broadcast.
- Keyframes: Use YouTube’s two-second recommendation when the encoder permits it, and do not exceed its stated four-second maximum.
Copyright and YouTube rules for bhajan videos
YouTube requires live-stream content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A devotional subject does not by itself establish permission to broadcast a particular recording. Check that you own or are authorized to use both the musical composition and the specific sound recording, and confirm that your permission covers live streaming on YouTube. YouTube’s policy information is available at Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
Troubleshoot common failures
| What happens | Likely issue | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a signal | The server URL, stream key, or connection type may be wrong, or the stream may not be enabled. | Copy the current URL and key from the correct Live Control Room stream; check channel eligibility and activation; confirm Larix is using the intended RTMP or RTMPS connection. |
| Encoder connects, but the prerecorded video is absent | A working encoder connection does not prove Larix can use a stored file as its source. | Test direct file input on the exact app version and device. If unavailable, use a separately verified playout/encoder workflow rather than assuming screen capture will behave identically. |
| Video appears but sound is missing | The source may not be providing audio to the encoder, or screen-audio capture may be restricted. | Test a complete video-and-audio signal in a rehearsal. If using Screencaster or another screen route, verify audio capture on that operating system and app combination. |
| Preview stutters or drops | The selected output may exceed what the device or connection can sustain. | Lower the output demands to a stable level, check the network, and rehearse while monitoring YouTube’s preview. |
| The broadcast ends unexpectedly | The encoder or source may have stopped, or the stream may have been interrupted. | Check both the source playback and connection during rehearsal, then monitor Live Control Room during the event. Follow YouTube’s end-stream controls rather than assuming a stopped source ended the YouTube broadcast cleanly. |
