You can stream a prerecorded coaching class as a YouTube Live broadcast by connecting an encoder to a stream you create in YouTube Studio, then sending the class video through that encoder. To repeat the class, configure the encoder to loop its source file; the exact control depends on the encoder you choose. First confirm your channel is eligible, test the stream, and clear the rights to everything in the recording. If you plan to run it for more than 12 hours, keep a separate local recording because YouTube may not archive longer streams.

What you need before you start

  • A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, and its general live-streaming eligibility guidance sets a minimum age of 16. Check the current requirements at YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility page.
  • The class video file, plus an encoder app or hardware encoder that can send it to YouTube and repeat it. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders; it does not require a particular brand or a dedicated hardware unit for this workflow. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
  • A reliable upload connection with enough capacity for the stream bitrate. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate; see its live streaming tips.
  • Permission to stream the class recording and every third-party element in it, such as music, photographs, slides, readings, or recorded performances.

How to stream and loop the class

1. Enable live streaming and check the channel

  1. Open YouTube Studio and confirm that live streaming is available for your channel. Verify the channel if YouTube prompts you.
  2. Check for any live-streaming restriction in the last 90 days. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, allow up to 24 hours for activation before your planned broadcast.
  3. Use a channel managed by someone who meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16. Requirements can change, so check YouTube’s current eligibility page before scheduling.

2. Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create and then Go Live.
  2. Create a new stream or schedule one. Scheduling gives you an event to share in advance and lets viewers set reminders.
  3. In the stream’s settings, find the server URL and stream key. Copy them into the corresponding streaming settings in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in its encoder setup guide. Labels and screen layouts can vary as Studio changes.

3. Load the file and enable looping in the encoder

  1. Choose the class video as the encoder’s media source.
  2. Enable repeat or loop playback for that source. The setting is encoder-specific; consult the current documentation for your chosen app or device. YouTube’s setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder but does not prescribe a universal looping control.
  3. Check where playback starts and ends. Make sure the file does not begin with a long blank section, cut off a lesson, or include material you did not intend to rebroadcast.
  4. Configure the encoder’s output for the file and the capacity of your connection. There is no single bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval established for every encoder, source file, and network in this workflow. Use the encoder’s current guidance and YouTube’s current recommendations rather than copying an arbitrary setting.

4. Preview, start, and monitor the broadcast

  1. Start sending the feed from the encoder, but check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public.
  2. Listen to the audio and watch the video in the preview. Confirm the class is playing as intended and that the stream has a usable picture and sound.
  3. Verify that the event is visible from its channel or watch page and check it on a second device, including a mobile device.
  4. Monitor audio, video, and the encoder connection during the broadcast. YouTube recommends setting up ahead of time, starting early, and maintaining upload headroom. Its live-streaming tips recommend 20% above the total stream bitrate.

How long can a YouTube Live loop run?

YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. If the replay matters, save a separate copy of the class or make a local recording rather than relying on the YouTube archive alone. You can also plan shorter sessions, but do not assume that splitting a broadcast guarantees an archive or avoids every platform limit. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Check copyright and permissions before going live

A class being educational does not, by itself, establish that every element can be streamed. Review the recording and verify rights to the class itself and to any material embedded in it, including music, slides, images, readings, and performances. YouTube’s terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music rights, and to comply with applicable law. Read the relevant YouTube Terms of Service.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may display a placeholder image and warn you; if the material continues, the stream can be interrupted temporarily or terminated. Even when you have a licence, an interruption can occur if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

India’s Copyright Act, 1957 includes the right to communicate certain works to the public and defines communication broadly as making a work available to be seen or heard by the public. That makes permissions relevant to an online loop, even if no viewer happens to be watching at a particular moment. The statute does not decide whether a specific class, licence, or exception applies to your situation. For the current text, see the Copyright Act, 1957; seek qualified legal advice for a fact-specific question.

Will looping a class affect monetization?

A live label does not guarantee monetization eligibility. YouTube’s reused-content policy applies to live streams as well as other videos. It addresses content repurposed from YouTube or elsewhere without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value; reviewers may assess the channel as a whole. If you are streaming your own coaching class, make your authorship and original contribution clear, and check the current YouTube channel monetization policies. Copyright compliance and reused-content monetization are separate questions, and a looped recording alone does not establish whether a channel will be accepted or rejected.

Common problems and what to check

  • You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, live-stream eligibility, restrictions in the previous 90 days, and whether first-time activation is still pending. Allow up to 24 hours for activation.
  • YouTube shows no encoder signal: Confirm you copied the server URL and stream key for the correct event, entered both in the encoder’s streaming settings, and started sending from the encoder. If needed, generate or copy the credentials again in Studio and update the encoder.
  • The picture or audio is missing in preview: Confirm the correct file and audio source are selected in the encoder, then check the preview before publishing. Test playback on a second device.
  • The stream drops or looks unstable: Check actual upload capacity and reduce the encoder’s output demands if the connection cannot sustain them. Aim for YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate.
  • The video does not repeat: Recheck the encoder’s source playback or loop setting. Loop controls differ by product, so use that encoder’s current documentation.
  • A copyright warning or interruption appears: Check the notice and the material playing at that moment. Resolve the rights issue; do not assume that classroom use, a licence alone, or the fact that the video is prerecorded will prevent a Content ID interruption.
  • The replay is missing after a very long broadcast: YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours. Use the local backup you made rather than depending on the platform archive for a long loop.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you would rather not keep an encoder computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The steps are: upload the class recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed.
