You can keep a YouTube Live channel running around the clock by uploading prerecorded videos to a cloud streaming service, connecting your YouTube channel or stream key, and starting a continuous broadcast. The cloud service handles playback and delivery, so your own computer does not have to stay on. Before choosing a provider, check its duration, storage, playlist, resolution, monitoring, and recovery limits; a continuous stream also has different archiving implications from a short live event.
What you need before starting
- An eligible YouTube channel. YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. YouTube says initial live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours. Its general guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and guidance.
- Videos you have the right to stream. Prerecorded material is still subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. You remain responsible for rights and policy compliance; replaying a recording does not make it exempt.
- A service that supports YouTube and continuous output. Confirm that its current plan supports your intended run length, video sources, formats, resolution, playlist controls, and monitoring.
- A plan for interruptions and archives. Check how the provider handles a dropped connection and decide whether you need a separate recording or shorter broadcast segments.
Choose a cloud service or another workflow
YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre as a cloud tool for continuous prerecorded-video streaming and Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 live streaming. OneStream Live documents a 24/7 scheduling workflow. These descriptions establish relevant product capabilities, not comparative reliability or independent performance results.

For any provider, compare the specific limits that affect your channel: duration caps, upload or cloud-storage sources, file formats and resolutions, playlist rotation, monitoring and recovery, archiving options, support, and total cost. The available product descriptions do not establish comparative uptime, so they are not a basis for ranking reliability.
Set up a continuous prerecorded YouTube Live stream
1. Enable livestreaming on the channel
- In YouTube Studio, start the live-streaming enablement process for your channel and complete verification if prompted.
- Allow for initial activation, which YouTube says may take up to 24 hours. Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days before planning a launch.
2. Select and prepare the cloud workflow
- Choose a service that explicitly supports YouTube and continuous or 24/7 output. Verify current plan limits and accepted formats with the provider before uploading a large library.
- Organize the videos and playlist in the order you want viewers to see them. Confirm the service’s storage allowance, rotation controls, and behavior at the end of a playlist or scheduled run.
- Set accurate stream details in YouTube or the service interface. Make sure the title and description do not imply that prerecorded playback is a live camera event.
3. Upload, connect, and schedule
The exact interface differs by provider. In OneStream Live’s documented workflow, select its 24-hour stream feature, add videos from your device, OneStream storage, or cloud storage, connect the YouTube channel, and schedule a start time and duration. Its help page says this feature requires Enterprise and that each 24/7 schedule can run for a maximum of 30 days.

If your workflow uses an encoder rather than a connected-channel integration, create the live stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. YouTube’s instructions are explicit: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” Treat the stream key as a credential: use the intended channel’s key, keep it private, and replace it if it is exposed.
4. Start and monitor the output
- Start the schedule or encoder and check the actual YouTube watch page, not just the provider’s dashboard.
- Confirm that video is playing, audio is audible, the selected channel is live, and the stream details are correct.
- For a round-the-clock operation, arrange monitoring for interruption, silent or frozen output, and credential or ingest errors. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend continuous audio and video quality monitoring during an event; a 24/7 channel needs a practical way to extend that attention across the full run.
YouTube’s API documentation describes a 24/7 feed as an ongoing broadcast and includes an example of maintaining it while creating a separate concurrent broadcast. That supports continuous broadcasts as an API use case; it does not guarantee uptime for any cloud provider.

Plan for YouTube’s rules and the replay archive
Content rights and policy
YouTube states that all content in live streams must adhere to its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. It may age-restrict or remove a stream, or restrict a creator’s ability to livestream. Make sure you have the necessary rights for every video, music track, and other included material, and review the channel’s obligations before looping content continuously.
Streams longer than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single stream running longer than 12 hours will be saved as a complete replay. If you need an archive, plan a local or provider-side recording, use shorter broadcast segments, or establish another archive workflow, and verify how it works in your current setup.

Common problems and what to check
- The channel cannot go live: check channel verification, live-stream eligibility, any restriction during the previous 90 days, and whether initial enablement has completed.
- YouTube is not receiving the stream: confirm that the correct channel is connected and that the encoder has the right YouTube Live server URL and current stream key. Check for a mistyped or exposed key and replace it if necessary.
- The stream starts but the video is silent, frozen, or wrong: inspect the YouTube watch page, confirm the intended file and playlist are selected, and check audio and picture at the source as well as in the provider’s output.
- A scheduled run ends unexpectedly: check the provider’s duration cap and schedule status. OneStream Live’s documented 24/7 schedule limit is 30 days; do not assume schedules renew themselves.
- The broadcast is live but no complete replay appears: check whether the run exceeded YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archive boundary. Use a separate recording or shorter broadcasts if a complete archive is required.
- The stream stops after a connection or ingest failure: check the provider’s documented monitoring and recovery behavior, then confirm that playback has resumed on YouTube rather than relying only on a status indicator.
