To stream a prerecorded video as a YouTube Live event over BSNL broadband, play the file through an encoder, send that encoder’s output to YouTube Live, and start the event in YouTube Studio. Your actual upload capacity—not your plan’s advertised download speed—determines which resolution and bitrate will hold steadily.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and eligible to livestream. If this is its first live stream, activation can take up to 24 hours; YouTube also requires that the channel has not had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
- The prerecorded video file, an encoder that can play or accept that file as a source, and a computer to run the software encoder.
- A stable BSNL internet connection with sufficient upload capacity for your chosen stream settings.
- Permission to use every video and audio element in the live stream and any archived copy.
You are not uploading an ordinary YouTube video in this workflow: the encoder plays the file and transmits it as a live broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup supports software and hardware encoders, including OBS Studio as a software option. YouTube: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Measure BSNL upload and choose stream quality
Do not use the download speed printed on a BSNL plan to choose encoder bitrate. Run an internet speed test and use the measured upload result as a guide, then test the actual video—including its typical motion and audio—before scheduling an important stream. YouTube recommends checking stream health and messages during the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder settings and troubleshooting guidance.
YouTube’s published H.264 encoder targets include the following. These describe YouTube ingest recommendations, not the performance or upload guarantee of any BSNL plan.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | YouTube minimum bitrate | YouTube recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain consistently, rather than aiming for the highest resolution. If upload fluctuates or the preview reports poor stream health, lower bitrate and, if needed, resolution. A wired router connection can help rule out Wi-Fi instability, but it cannot resolve a limitation in the line, routing, or subscribed plan. BSNL conditions vary by location and subscription, so check the terms for your own circle and plan.
Encoder settings for a straightforward setup
- Video codec: H.264 is a compatibility-oriented choice. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS workflows.
- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframe interval: Two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds.
- Frame rate: YouTube supports up to 60 fps. Match the source and choose a bitrate that the connection can sustain; the published table above gives 30 fps examples.
- Audio: AAC or MP3 are listed as supported codecs.
- Connection: Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it. YouTube recommends it because it encrypts the stream between the encoder and Google’s servers.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- Activate live streaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live. If the channel has never livestreamed, complete activation and allow up to 24 hours before the first broadcast.
- Create or schedule the stream. In Live Control Room, create a stream or use the Manage tab to schedule one. Scheduling provides a watch-page URL viewers can visit and lets them set reminders.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly. You can manage or reset stream keys in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Set the prerecorded file as the encoder’s source. Use the encoder’s media or file playback source, then configure the video and audio settings. Confirm that the file is playing from the beginning or from the intended point before going live.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming from the encoder, then wait for the signal and preview in YouTube Live Control Room. Check stream health and correct any warnings before proceeding.
- Start the live event in YouTube. When the preview and settings are right, click Go live in Live Control Room. Starting the encoder sends a signal; it is not necessarily the same action as making the scheduled event public.
- Monitor the broadcast. Keep an eye on stream health and the encoder output. After the event, verify the archive if you need a replay.
Protect the stream and its archive
You need rights for the content in both the live transmission and any saved replay. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even licensed material may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. YouTube’s livestream terms say creators warrant that they have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and check rights for each component before broadcasting.

Choose software or unattended playback
Software encoder
A computer running encoder software is the practical starting point for most creators. It avoids a dedicated hardware purchase and gives you direct control over playback and the stream settings, but the computer and its connection must remain available while the broadcast runs. YouTube lists OBS Studio among its software encoder choices. YouTube’s encoder guide.

Specialized hardware
For unattended scheduled playback, YouTube’s encoder page lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes optional PlayToStream functionality for scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live. This is a specialized hardware route; confirm current device availability and program terms with the provider before relying on it. YouTube’s encoder guide.
Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube receives no signal: Confirm the encoder is running and that its stream URL and key match the event in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed or is incorrect, manage or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The preview is unstable or stream health is poor: Compare measured upload with the selected bitrate, then reduce bitrate or resolution and test again. Check whether Wi-Fi is contributing by trying a wired connection; this will not fix a plan or line limitation.
- The file appears, but its sound or motion is wrong: Test the full playback path before going live. Confirm the encoder is using the intended file source and audio source, and watch a representative portion in the preview.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Review the rights for all audio and video, including material that may be licensed but not allowlisted through Content ID. Resolve permissions with the relevant rights holder before restarting.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: Check the event’s duration. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived automatically; use a local recording when a complete copy is important.
