To keep a real estate walkthrough live on YouTube around the clock, choose between a live camera feed from the property and a loop of previously recorded walkthrough footage. For a camera feed, YouTube’s documented route is an encoder connected to a verified channel’s stream URL and key. For prerecorded video, use a service that loops uploaded footage. These approaches are not interchangeable: one shows what a camera captures now; the other replays footage you already have.
Choose the right continuous-stream setup
Live camera feed from the property
Use a camera and encoder when the stream needs to show the property as it looks in real time. YouTube describes encoder streaming for external video equipment and more advanced productions. You can use software running on a computer or standalone encoder hardware; a compatible network camera may also support automated streaming. Check device compatibility before buying or installing equipment. YouTube lists CamStreamer for supported Axis cameras as an option for automated 24/7 streams and scheduled streams, but it is a third-party product, not a YouTube service or endorsement. YouTube’s encoder guide describes the listed options.
Loop of recorded walkthrough footage
If the goal is to keep a presentation live when nobody is filming, prepare recorded property walkthroughs and loop them. YouTube’s encoder guide also lists Gyre, a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video. Check current compatibility and service terms before relying on any third-party option. This is a replay, not a live camera view.
Computer encoder or standalone installation
A computer with encoding software can provide flexible control over sources and overlays, but it must remain powered and connected for the stream to continue. Standalone encoder hardware or a compatible network camera may reduce the number of separate devices in a fixed installation. These are practical trade-offs, not measured performance comparisons; choose based on compatibility, unattended-operation needs, and how you will handle outages and recordings.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up a live camera stream with YouTube Studio
- Verify the channel and enable live streaming. Sign in to YouTube and follow the live-stream eligibility steps for the channel. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Enter the title and other listing details, and set visibility and scheduling to suit the property presentation.
- Connect the encoder. In the stream settings, obtain the stream URL and stream key, then enter them in your encoder’s YouTube destination settings. YouTube explains these connection settings in its encoder setup guide. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it or include it in a screenshot.
- Check the feed before going live. Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Check picture, sound, framing, and the property details being shown. Confirm that the watch page is accessible and that any local recording is being created before starting an unattended session.
- Keep the installation ready for continuous operation. Plan for power, heat, storage, and network interruptions, and arrange monitoring or a recovery process. A camera and encoder will not make an unstable connection or interrupted power reliable by themselves.
Check upload capacity and reliability
Use the actual outbound upload capacity available at the property; a download-speed result does not establish that the connection can carry a live stream. YouTube recommends keeping stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth with 20% headroom, and emphasizes a reliable network. The 20% figure is YouTube Help’s recommendation, not an independent performance benchmark. Review YouTube’s network and encoder guidance and test the complete setup at the location before publishing.
- Test at the times and in the conditions when the stream is expected to run, since available upload capacity can vary.
- Watch the Live Control Room preview for interruptions or degraded picture and sound.
- Check the public watch page and verify the local recording file is growing.
- For a long unattended feed, consider who or what will notice a dropped connection, power loss, overheating, or full storage.
Plan for YouTube’s archive limit
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete replay of one uninterrupted stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive limitation, not a promise that every shorter stream will be saved. Keep a local recording as a backup, or schedule shorter sessions and check each archive after the broadcast. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Clear rights and permissions before filming
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content and to comply with applicable laws and territory-specific requirements. Use original footage or obtain the rights needed for all included music, logos, and other material. A property walkthrough does not make background music or third-party video free to use. India’s Copyright Act covers cinematograph films and sound recordings and defines communication to the public broadly; the Copyright Office describes limited exceptions, not blanket permission for third-party material. Consult the YouTube Terms of Service and the Copyright Office of India for applicable requirements.
Get appropriate access and filming permission for the property and take account of people or private areas captured in the footage. If the walkthrough includes aerial footage, India’s Drone Rules apply to unmanned aircraft operated in or over India. The rules alone do not establish the airspace permissions for a particular property or settle every local filming, resident-consent, or privacy question. Check requirements for the specific location before flying or filming. See the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s rules page.

Troubleshoot common continuous-stream problems
YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed
- Check the stream URL and key. Confirm they were copied into the correct destination fields in the encoder. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Check activation and stream status. Confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel and that the intended stream is selected in Live Control Room. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- Check the connection and encoder. Confirm the encoder is running and has internet access; then look for a preview in Live Control Room before trying to start the public broadcast.
The feed freezes or loses quality
- Check upload bandwidth and headroom. Compare the encoder’s stream bitrate with available outbound capacity and leave the recommended 20% headroom.
- Check network reliability at the property. A speed test alone does not show whether the connection remains stable over a long session. Test the full path and monitor the preview.
The stream stops while unattended
- Check power, temperature, and storage. Inspect the camera, encoder, and recording device for interrupted power, overheating, or exhausted storage.
- Check whether the encoder or connection needs attention. Plan a way to notice a failure and restore the feed; the cited YouTube guidance stresses reliability but does not prescribe a particular uptime design.
The replay is missing or incomplete
Check the session length and your local recording. Streams over 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube, so use local footage or planned shorter sessions when a complete replay matters.
