To keep recorded customer event highlights live on YouTube around the clock, create an eligible YouTube broadcast and send it a looping feed from an encoder or a cloud playlist service. First confirm the channel can livestream, clear every recording for this use, then connect the encoder with the YouTube stream URL and key. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; its guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so do not rely on a longer continuous feed for a complete replay.
What you need before starting
- An eligible channel: YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream access can take up to 24 hours to enable, so check ahead of the event. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and its encoder setup guide.
- A repeating video source: Use an encoder running on a computer or standalone encoder hardware, or a hosted playlist service that can send a continuous feed. YouTube documents encoder ingestion; the playlist and looping behavior must come from your playback setup.
- Rights and privacy clearance: Confirm you are allowed to publish the event footage, including identifiable customer appearances, voices, logos, presentation materials, and music. Platform eligibility does not establish permission from participants or satisfy privacy, contract, or local legal obligations. Have the relevant organization review the specific recordings and jurisdiction.
- A replay plan: Keep source recordings separately if you need a complete archive. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but does not promise that a longer continuous stream will be archived in full.
How to set up the continuous YouTube Live feed
- Prepare and review the highlights. Select the approved recordings and decide their playback order and loop. Check the finished files for content that lacks permission for a continuous public broadcast. Save the source files independently of YouTube.
- Choose where playback will run. With a local software encoder, the computer must remain part of the streaming setup and the operator is responsible for its power, internet connection, playback, and monitoring. A standalone hardware encoder is another option YouTube recognizes, but confirm that the device supports your intended playback and looping workflow. A hosted playlist service can run playback in the cloud; verify its terms, privacy and data handling, cost, and recovery behavior before uploading customer footage.
- Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. If this is the first livestream, allow up to 24 hours for access to become available.
- Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. In the live control room, create the broadcast and select the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast into the encoder or hosted service. The key authorizes a connection to your YouTube stream, so treat it as a secret: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the feed.
- Configure the playback feed to repeat. Load the approved highlight files into the encoder or service’s playback sequence and enable its loop or playlist behavior. YouTube receives the encoder feed; the exact playlist controls vary by the playback software or service, so check its current documentation rather than assuming YouTube itself repeats uploaded files.
- Start the encoder and verify the output. Confirm in YouTube’s live control room that the incoming feed is connected, then check that the intended video and audio are actually playing. Keep an operator responsible for watching the output and responding to playback, network, or rights warnings.
- Manage long-running archives deliberately. For a complete replay, make separate recordings or schedule separate broadcasts under 12 hours rather than assuming an all-day feed will be archived in full. Preserve the original highlight files as the dependable source copy.
Copyright and customer-footage checks
YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; if the material remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. A licence alone may not be enough for Content ID: YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist when licensed content is identified. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and confirm allowlisting before going live where needed.
Separately, get the appropriate permission to show customers and other identifiable people, and review any event contracts, confidential material, or personal information in the recordings. These requirements depend on the footage and applicable jurisdiction; a clear music licence or an eligible YouTube channel does not settle them.
Ways to keep the feed running
| Approach | What it does | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — first option to consider | StreamNeo advertises uploaded-video playlists, cloud looping, and automatic recovery for YouTube streams. | No home computer has to stay on, but you rely on a hosted service; check its terms, privacy and data handling, and current plan details. Its continuity and recovery descriptions are vendor claims, not independently verified uptime findings. |
| Local software encoder | Runs an encoder feed from files available on the operator’s computer; YouTube supports encoder software. | Offers local file control, while leaving power, internet, maintenance, and continuous monitoring to the operator. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | YouTube recognizes standalone hardware encoders as an ingestion option. | Uses dedicated equipment; purchase cost, setup, and support for the required playback and looping workflow vary by device. No particular model is established here. |
| API-managed broadcasts | YouTube’s API documentation describes binding a separate broadcast to the same incoming stream as a continuing 24/7 feed. The separate broadcast can represent a subset event and be completed without stopping the underlying feed. | Allows more flexible broadcast management, but requires engineering work to implement and operate the API integration. See Google’s broadcast and stream documentation. |
When a separate highlight broadcast is useful
A continuous channel feed and a separately watchable highlight event are different broadcast objects. For example, if an interview or customer presentation needs its own watch page while the general highlights keep running, YouTube’s API guide describes creating an additional broadcast bound to the continuing stream, then completing that broadcast without stopping the feed. This is an API-managed setup, not a setting to assume is available in a basic playlist workflow. The API reference is Understanding broadcasts and streams.

Common problems and fixes
- Live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- The encoder will not connect: Recheck that you copied the correct stream URL and key for the broadcast, that the encoder is using them, and that the key has not been exposed or replaced. YouTube’s encoder guide covers the connection workflow.
- The feed connects but the wrong segment plays or playback stops: Check the playlist order, loop setting, and file availability in the playback system. YouTube’s encoder documentation explains ingestion, not the behavior of every third-party playlist tool.
- YouTube warns about or interrupts the stream: Identify the matched third-party content, remove it if you do not have the necessary rights, or contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting if it is licensed. Do not assume that a licence automatically prevents an automated interruption.
- The full all-day replay is missing: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guarantee of full archiving beyond that threshold. Use separate shorter broadcasts or recordings when a complete archive matters.
