Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo test a cloud YouTube loop service before going public, create a separate broadcast in YouTube Studio, set its visibility to Unlisted before it starts, connect the cloud service, and check both YouTube’s incoming preview and the audience-facing watch page. Then verify the playlist order and loop restart on the devices your viewers will use. Unlisted is link-accessible, not private: anyone who gets the URL can watch.
Before you start: check channel readiness
YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours. YouTube for Artists recommends enabling live streams at least 24 hours before a music-channel event. Check the channel’s current live-stream eligibility rather than treating an earlier test as proof it is eligible now. YouTube’s live-streaming tips say channels need verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. How do I test a YouTube live stream before going public?
- Create a dedicated test broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room’s Stream tab or schedule a broadcast. Give it an unmistakable test title and set visibility to Unlisted before starting. YouTube supports public, private and unlisted visibility. Avoid blindly reusing an event setup: YouTube says reusing settings can copy metadata, settings and the stream key, so re-check all three before the public event. YouTube encoder setup
- Connect the cloud looping service. Follow that provider’s current setup instructions. YouTube’s encoder guidance says to give the encoder the YouTube stream URL and stream key. Cloud services can use different authorization and connection workflows, so do not assume every provider uses the same steps. YouTube Live Control Room production guide
- Start the cloud feed and inspect YouTube’s preview. Wait for the incoming signal in Live Control Room before asking testers to assess playback. YouTube’s production guide describes a preview appearing after the encoder sends its stream; for the configuration it documents, the broadcast is not live to viewers until the operator selects Go Live. The exact transition can vary with broadcast configuration.
- Check the watch page as a viewer. Open the unlisted watch link on a phone and a computer, or on the devices your audience will use. Check picture and sound, orientation, title and thumbnail, and whether playback remains stable. A preview can reveal ingest or production problems; the watch page confirms the audience-facing experience. YouTube recommends checking watch and channel pages, mobile playback, and audio and video quality. YouTube live streaming tips
- Verify the loop rather than assuming it works. Watch long enough to confirm playlist order and see the sequence restart where expected. Check that the cloud job continues as configured. Loop behavior and controls belong to the particular provider; a successful incoming preview alone does not prove a playlist will restart correctly.
- End the test deliberately. Stop the broadcast in YouTube Studio and stop the cloud job using that provider’s instructions. Decide whether to keep or remove the test archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; its production guide advises recording separately for streams longer than 12 hours. YouTube production guide
Can I test a stream as Unlisted, and who can watch it?
Yes. YouTube recommends trying a test live stream and says you can set it to public or unlisted before it starts. Unlisted is useful when you want invited testers to use a watch link, but it does not limit viewing to invited people: anyone with the direct URL can watch, and the link can be shared. Do not describe an unlisted rehearsal as confidential or private. YouTube live streaming tips · YouTube Live Streaming API overview
| Option | Who can access it | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Unlisted broadcast | Anyone with the link | Checking the audience-facing watch page with link-sharing testers |
| Private broadcast | Users explicitly invited | Restricting the audience to invited accounts |
| Private monitor stream | Only the creator, according to YouTube’s API documentation | Creator-only preview and testing; it is distinct from the audience-facing broadcast |
YouTube’s API documentation distinguishes the private monitor output from the broadcast’s own visibility. A monitor stream is for creator-only preview; it does not substitute for checking the watch page testers will see. The API overview was last updated September 14, 2026. How do I check that my 24/7 YouTube loop is working?
- Connection: confirm the service is connected to the intended channel and that YouTube receives its feed.
- Audience playback: view the unlisted watch page on relevant devices; do not rely only on the Live Control Room preview.
- Playlist: check the order of clips and observe a complete restart at the expected point.
- Continuation: confirm the cloud job remains active as configured, and review the provider’s own status or diagnostics if available.
- Event handoff: before switching to a public event, check the title, visibility, metadata and stream key in the intended broadcast.
YouTube for Artists recommends testing an unlisted stream before a high-production or high-investment music event. YouTube’s live-streaming tips suggest setting up encoders at least two hours before an event and starting them at least 15 minutes ahead. Treat those as YouTube’s event-planning guidance, not a guarantee or a universal requirement for every cloud service. YouTube for Artists · YouTube live streaming tips
What an unlisted test cannot prove
A successful rehearsal checks a particular broadcast setup at a particular time. It does not establish that the videos have the necessary rights, that the channel is eligible for monetization, or that the stream will remain reliable in the future. Resolve content permissions and check current YouTube and provider requirements separately. A third-party service’s descriptions of its own playlist or automatic-loop features are not independent verification of how it will behave on your channel.
