To catch free-to-keep PC game offers, check official storefronts directly and use a cross-store tracker only as an optional alert layer. Confirm the game, platform, deadline, eligibility and claim terms on the official store page before you redeem it.
Know what kind of “free” offer you’re seeing
A giveaway is worth tracking when a limited-time claim adds a permanent game license to your account. Steamworks documentation (Valve) defines a Free to Keep promotion as “a time-limited promotion that allows a player to permanently acquire a license for a game for free.” Steamworks documentation distinguishes this from other kinds of free access:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
GameStop Physical Gift Card | $25.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
Xbox Physical Gift Card | $25.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 3 |
|
$100 XBOX Gift Card [Digital Code] | $100.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 4 |
|
Fortnite Physical Gift Card | $50.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 5 |
|
$25 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code] | $25.00 | Buy on Amazon |
- Free to Keep: Claim during the promotion and the license remains in your account.
- Free-to-play: The game is permanently free to acquire; it is not a limited-time giveaway.
- Free Weekend: You can play temporarily, but access is not the same as receiving a permanent license.
Track the first type as an expiring giveaway. A game that is always free or only temporarily playable does not meet that definition.
Where to check for active offers
Steam: check the game’s store page
Steam does not provide a dedicated store area for browsing Free to Keep promotions, and wishlisted customers are not notified by default. During an offer, the promotion appears on the game’s store page. That makes a wishlist alert an unreliable way to catch every Steam giveaway; use a manual check or a tracker, then open the store page to verify the offer. Steamworks’ Free to Keep guidance describes how these promotions appear.

- GameStop. Power to the Players.

The same Steamworks page says developers should contact Steam at least a month in advance to arrange a promotion. That is guidance for developers, not a requirement for players claiming a game.
Epic Games Store: use the official Free Games page
Epic’s official Free Games page is the place to confirm what is currently available. Epic Games Player Support describes a new weekly free game arriving every Thursday at 8 AM PT and remaining available for seven days. It says a claimed game stays in your library permanently, even if you do not download it right away. Claiming requires an Epic account with two-factor authentication enabled. Epic Games Player Support provides those details; check the live offer and current support guidance because schedules, listings and account policies can change.

Other stores: verify each claim at its destination
A multi-store service such as Alerts.Games can surface offers across Steam, Epic Games Store, Amazon Luna and Google Play. It also describes Amazon Luna/Prime Gaming offers that provide claimable GOG and Epic codes. Treat its listings as discovery leads rather than a complete or independently audited inventory. Follow the listing to the relevant official store or redemption page and confirm the platform, eligibility and deadline before claiming.
Choose a tracking routine that fits your habits
| Approach | Coverage | Alert timing | Verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Check official store pages manually | Only the stores you visit | When you remember to check | Directly on the official offer page |
| Use a cross-store tracker | Multiple stores, depending on the service’s listings | May surface offers through the tracker’s available notifications | Open the official claim page; tracker coverage and alert timing are not guaranteed to be exhaustive or real-time |
| Use both | Tracker discovery plus direct checks of priority stores | Tracker alerts can prompt a check; manual visits can catch what an alert misses | Confirm every offer at its official destination |
A practical routine is to enable notifications in a tracker you choose, then visit Steam and Epic’s official pages on a schedule that works for you. When an alert arrives, verify the live offer at the storefront rather than relying on a tracker headline or an old notification. There is no need to buy hardware or another physical product to use this workflow.

Claim an offer without mistaking access for ownership
- Open the alert’s official destination. Use the store or redemption page where the offer is actually claimed, not just the tracker listing.
- Check the terms. Confirm that the offer grants a permanent license, that the platform matches your account, and that you meet any eligibility requirements. Note the displayed expiration time.
- Sign in and complete the claim before the deadline. For Epic, use an account with two-factor authentication enabled.
- Confirm the game appears in your library. For Epic, the game remains in the library after claiming even if you postpone downloading it. A Free Weekend or free-to-play listing is not evidence that you claimed a Free to Keep license.
Why a single notification method can miss offers
Store notifications are not a universal giveaway feed. Steam specifically says wishlisted customers are not notified by default about Free to Keep promotions, and it has no dedicated browse area for them. A third-party tracker can reduce the need to check multiple stores manually, but the available evidence does not establish that any tracker catches every offer or sends alerts in real time. Use alerts for discovery and the official offer page for the decision to claim.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Rank #4
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
