How to Track Shrines, Korok Seeds, and Quests on a TOTK Replay

On a Tears of the Kingdom replay, use the Adventure Log to recover quest threads, the Purah Pad’s Shrine Sensor and map pins to locate Shrines, and your own marks to keep a thorough Korok checklist. The Switch 2 Edition adds ZELDA NOTES achievement rates and guided navigation; original Switch players can use the game’s built-in tools alongside a personal map or checklist.

Track quests in the Adventure Log

Press the Minus button and open the Adventure Log to review quests the current save has recorded as started or finished. Many entries include hints or reminders, which can help you pick up a quest after a long break. Nintendo Support describes the path this way: “You can review any quests you’ve started (and finished) by pressing the – (Minus) Button and navigating to the Adventure Log.” Nintendo Support’s general tips for playing Tears of the Kingdom.

For an ordinary return to the game, the log is the best place to find an unfinished thread. If you are doing a completionist sweep across quest categories, keep a separate checklist too: the official description does not say that the Adventure Log combines every category into a single all-quests completion percentage.

Find Shrines and mark ones to revisit

Use the Shrine Sensor as a locator

The Purah Pad’s Sensor tracks Shrines and gives an audible alert when one is nearby. It points you toward a nearby Shrine; it is not a checklist of every Shrine you have or have not completed. Nintendo’s guide places access to Purah Pad features in the Hateno Village Research Lab quest progression. See Nintendo’s Purah Pad feature guide for the documented tools.

#1 Best Overall
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - For Nintendo Switch 2
  • Enhanced performance and visuals exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Explore the skies, caves, and vast lands of Hyrule in a massive open-world adventure.
  • Wield new and returning abilities to craft solutions, vehicles, and weapons.
  • Discover the mystery behind the spreading gloom threatening the kingdom.
  • Use the ZELDA NOTES app to share, compare, and earn daily bonuses.

Pin visible Shrines with the Scope

When you can see a Shrine but cannot reach it yet, open the Scope and place a pin on it. The pin then appears on your map, giving you a reminder of the location. This is useful for distant or obstructed destinations that the Sensor has not yet led you to. Nintendo explains the Scope and map pins in its fourth Shrine guide.

Use Hero’s Path to review your route

Hero’s Path Mode shows where you have travelled during the current journey. Use the route history to notice broad areas you may not have explored; it does not establish that a region is complete, or confirm the status of its Shrines, Koroks, or quests.

Completing a Shrine’s challenge or puzzle earns a Light of Blessing. Four Lights can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue for a heart container or stamina vessel, as described in Nintendo Play’s Shrine and Korok tips.

Rank #2
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
  • Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
  • Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
  • Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.

Keep a dependable Korok record

Koroks are hidden around Hyrule, and finding or helping one earns a Korok Seed. Hestu trades Seeds for additional weapon, shield, and bow inventory slots. Nintendo’s guide to Shrines and Koroks explains those rewards, but official sources reviewed for the original Switch version do not describe a complete in-game list of found and missing Koroks.

For a careful replay, pair the game’s visible records with a checklist or map where you mark each Korok as you find it. Hero’s Path can help you see where you have walked, but it does not identify every uncollected Korok. On original Switch, that manual record is the reliable way to document a systematic sweep.

What changes on Switch 2 Edition

The tools above remain useful on either console version. The Switch 2 Edition adds two distinct options: a companion-device feature set through ZELDA NOTES, and a second save file for a separate adventure.

ZELDA NOTES: achievement rates and navigation

ZELDA NOTES is exclusive to the Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. For Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo says it can show achievement rates for Shrine clears and Korok discoveries, let you select a map marker for voice-guided navigation, and update the device map with your in-game position every few seconds while in use. It requires the Nintendo Switch App on a smart device; a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Details are in Nintendo Support’s ZELDA NOTES FAQ.

This provides a more explicit progress measure for Shrine and Korok discoveries than the original Switch tools described above. The documented feature does not make ZELDA NOTES an all-quest tracker.

A separate save for a fresh run

The Switch 2 Edition of Tears of the Kingdom supports two save files, allowing you to keep an existing adventure and begin another. Nintendo says the second save created in the Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to the original Switch version. Check Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition page for the edition details.

Choose a tracking setup for your replay

Setup What it tracks or helps with What you need
Original Switch, built-in tools Recorded quest status in the Adventure Log; nearby Shrines through the Sensor; visible Shrine locations through Scope pins; journey route through Hero’s Path. No complete found-versus-missing Korok checklist is described in the official sources reviewed. The game. Add your own notes or map marks for a meticulous Korok or quest sweep.
Switch 2 Edition with ZELDA NOTES The built-in tools, plus achievement rates for Shrine clears and Korok discoveries and voice-guided navigation to selected map markers. Switch 2 Edition and a smart device with the Nintendo Switch App. Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required.

For a low-effort return, start with the Adventure Log and Shrine Sensor. For a documented completionist run, add manual marks for Koroks and any quest categories you want to verify individually; Switch 2 Edition players can also use ZELDA NOTES for its Shrine and Korok achievement rates.

Do not treat map completion as a full-completion verdict

The sources cited here describe the Adventure Log, Shrine tools, Hero’s Path, and Switch 2 achievement rates for Shrine and Korok discoveries. They do not establish exactly what the post-story map completion percentage counts in Tears of the Kingdom. Do not use that percentage by itself as proof that every quest or Korok is complete.
