To transfer an Epic Games Store save, first check whether that specific game supports Epic Games Launcher Cloud Saves. If it does, sign in to the same Epic account on both PCs and let the Launcher sync. If it does not—or the save fails to sync—back up the game’s local save folder and copy it to the location the game expects on the new PC.
Choose the right transfer method

Check whether the game supports Cloud Saves
Cloud Saves are supported game by game, not universally across the Epic Games Store catalog. Epic says many games support the feature. In the Epic Games Launcher, open Library, select Filters, then look under Features for Cloud Saves. You can also check the game’s store page for its Features tags. Epic describes Cloud Saves as storing save files online so the same files can be used on different devices: Epic Games Player Support: check Cloud Saves support.
Transfer with Epic Cloud Saves
- On the old PC: Connect to the internet, open the game through the Epic Games Launcher, and allow it to save and sync before switching devices.
- Check the Launcher setting: Open the profile menu, choose Settings, and make sure Enable Cloud Saves is checked. Epic warns that turning Cloud Saves off and back on while playing on more than one machine may cause conflicts. See Epic’s Cloud Saves setting instructions.
- On the new PC: Sign in to the same Epic account, connect to the internet, and let the Launcher sync before starting the game.
If a Cloud Save conflict appears
Review the dates or file details in the prompt and select the file that actually contains your latest progress. Do not choose based simply on which PC is newer or older. Epic warns: “If you select the older file, you could lose progress. Any progress lost is not recoverable.” See Epic’s Cloud Save conflict guidance.
Move a save manually when Cloud Saves are unavailable
1. Back up the save on the old PC
Before moving or replacing files, make a separate copy of the save folder. Epic’s usual Launcher save-copy location is %localappdata%EpicGamesLauncherSavedSaves[EpicGamesAccountID][Yourgamefolder]. This is not a universal save location: some games store their saves elsewhere.

Epic’s guide, Where can I find my local game saves?, lists these paths and advises contacting the game’s developer if you still cannot find the save.
2. Confirm the destination folder for that game
Find out where the specific game expects saves on the new PC before copying files there or overwriting anything. Do not assume the Epic Launcher folder is also the game’s active save folder. For example, Obsidian says the Epic Games Store version of The Outer Worlds stores saves under %USERPROFILE%Saved GamesThe Outer Worlds. That location is specific to this title; consult the developer’s instructions for the game you are moving. See Obsidian Entertainment Support: save game file locations.

3. Copy the save and verify it
Copy the backed-up save folder to the confirmed destination on the new PC. A USB flash drive is one optional way to carry a small folder if transferring it over a network is inconvenient; it does not make an unsupported game compatible with a save. Keep the backup until the game loads the expected progress on the new machine.

Common problems to avoid
- The game is missing from the Cloud Saves filter: Check its store-page Features tags. If it is not supported, use the manual-copy route.
- The save is not in the Launcher folder: Check the alternate locations above and the game developer’s documentation; save paths vary by title.
- A sync conflict offers multiple files: Compare the displayed details and keep the file with the latest progress. Selecting an older file risks unrecoverable lost progress.
- The copied save does not appear in-game: Confirm the destination folder is the one that game uses and that you copied the correct save. Do not overwrite other files until you have a backup.
