YouTube explicitly documents Supers for eligible live streams and Premieres; it does not specifically guarantee them for every continuous prerecorded 24/7 rebroadcast, so verify the actual stream in Studio.
Check eligibility before changing settings
Super Chat is part of YouTube’s Supers fan-funding features. Access depends on your channel’s eligibility, whether the feature is available in your location, and compliance with YouTube’s terms and policies. You may also need to accept YouTube’s Commerce Product Module (CPM) during setup.
YouTube’s monetization eligibility page lists a lower YouTube Partner Program (YPP) tier for fan-funding features: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the preceding 90 days, and either 3,000 qualifying public watch hours over the preceding 365 days or 3 million qualifying Shorts views over the preceding 90 days. These are entry thresholds, not a guarantee that Super Chat will be available: feature-specific requirements still apply. YouTube also lists a higher tier—1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualifying public watch hours over 365 days or 10 million qualifying Shorts views over 90 days—for additional monetization features such as Watch Page Ads. That higher threshold is not the Super Chat threshold. Check YouTube’s current monetization eligibility requirements and confirm your channel’s available features in Studio.
Turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio on desktop
- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the channel account you want to use.
- Choose Earn in the left navigation.
- Open the Supers tab.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen setup prompts.
- Accept the CPM if YouTube presents it during setup.
- Turn on the Super Chat switch.
The Supers tab appears only for eligible channels. If it is missing, follow the checks below rather than assuming a stream setting alone can unlock the feature. YouTube’s setup instructions for Supers describe the current route.

Use the YouTube Studio mobile app
- Open the YouTube Studio app and select Earn.
- Tap the Supers card.
- If the app presents Get started, tap it and complete the setup prompts, including CPM acceptance if requested.
The card and setup options depend on channel eligibility. If you cannot find them in the app, check the Earn area in desktop Studio as well. YouTube’s mobile Supers instructions cover the app route.
What changes for a prerecorded 24/7 stream?
YouTube describes Super Chat and Super Stickers as ways for fans to connect with creators during eligible live streams and Premieres. A Premiere is YouTube’s clearly documented option for presenting prerecorded video with live chat: when Supers are enabled for the channel, they are automatically available on an eligible Premiere. A continuous 24/7 rebroadcast of prerecorded footage is different from a Premiere, and YouTube’s cited guidance does not expressly guarantee that every such configuration can use Super Chat. Do not assume that enabling the channel setting makes Supers available on every stream format; inspect the particular stream in Studio. See YouTube’s Supers overview and its Premiere guidance.

Check the individual stream and live chat
Channel-level access is only one part of eligibility. Super Chat requires live chat to be on and is unavailable for certain content or settings, including age-restricted, unlisted, or private videos; Made for Kids content; YouTube Giving fundraiser videos; and videos where live chat or comments are turned off. Review YouTube’s current Supers eligibility, availability, and policies, since requirements and supported locations can change.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Earn → Supers area and confirm that Super Chat is enabled for the channel.
- Open the specific live stream or Premiere in Studio and check its live chat and eligibility status.
- Confirm the video is not private, unlisted, age-restricted, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Make sure live chat is enabled for that event.
- If the feature is still absent, check your location, channel’s fan-funding access, and CPM acceptance.
Why viewers may not see Super Chat
- There is no Supers tab or card: the channel may not meet the eligibility requirements, the feature may not be available in its location, or the setup may not be complete. Check Earn → Supers and the channel’s monetization status.
- Super Chat is enabled for the channel but missing from one event: check the event’s visibility, age restriction, audience designation, fundraiser status, and live chat setting.
- The event is a continuous prerecorded rebroadcast: YouTube’s cited guidance does not specifically confirm every 24/7 rebroadcast configuration. Verify the particular event in Studio; a Premiere is the documented format for prerecorded video with Supers.
- The feature was available before but is now unavailable: review the current video status and YouTube’s current eligibility and policy requirements, which can change.
