On Windows PC, community documentation describes setting Honkai: Star Rail’s stored frame-rate value to 120 FPS through the Windows Registry. This is an unofficial configuration change—not a HoYoverse-supported how-to—and it does not provide unlimited FPS. Back up the relevant registry key first, and treat the steps as version-sensitive.
What the FPS change does—and what it does not
The documented method changes a game setting in the Windows Registry from 60 to 120. PCGamingWiki lists the setting under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCognosphereStar Rail, in a value named GraphicsSettings_Model_h2986158309. Its instructions are community documentation, not official HoYoverse guidance. Check that the value and behavior still match your installed game version before relying on them. Call this a 120 FPS setting, not an FPS uncapped mode. The documented choices are 30, 60, and 120; values above 120 reportedly revert to 60. The same reference says the game’s menu may still display 30 FPS after the edit even when it is rendering at 120. That reported mismatch may vary by game version, so the menu alone may not confirm the current behavior.
A 120 Hz-or-higher monitor is optional if you want to view higher-refresh output. It does not unlock the game’s setting or guarantee that your PC can sustain 120 frames per second.

How to set the value to 120 FPS on Windows
These steps apply only to Windows PC and reflect the registry path documented by PCGamingWiki. Editing the wrong registry value can cause problems, so export a backup of the key before changing anything.
- Close Honkai: Star Rail. Do not edit the setting while the game is running.
- Open Registry Editor. Press
Win + R, enterregedit, and press Enter. Approve the Windows prompt if it appears. - Back up the game’s registry key. Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCognosphereStar Rail. Right-clickStar Rail, choose Export, and save the.regfile somewhere you can find it. - Find the FPS value. In that key, locate
GraphicsSettings_Model_h2986158309, the value identified in PCGamingWiki’s documented procedure. If it is absent, do not guess at a similarly named value; the layout or instructions may no longer match your build. - Change the value from 60 to 120. Open it, set the FPS value to
120using the format presented in the dialog, and confirm the edit. - Close Registry Editor and launch the game. Check the available behavior on your current build. A menu reading 30 FPS does not by itself disprove the reported 120 FPS behavior, but neither does the documented method guarantee that it works on every current version.
Manual registry edit or third-party unlocker?
The two approaches described in community sources both involve changing the registry, but one requires running an external executable. Neither is verified as endorsed by HoYoverse.

If you do not want to run an external executable, the manual method avoids that extra step, but it is still an unofficial registry change. Avoid treating a tool’s convenience as evidence that it is safer or approved.
Can changing FPS get your account banned?
HoYoverse’s Fair Gaming Declaration prohibits “external plug-ins, game accelerators/boosters, scripts, or any other third-party tools that damage the balance of the game.” It lists possible penalties that include reward removal, account suspension, and permanent bans. The declaration, attributed to the Honkai: Star Rail Crew and dated April 26, 2023, does not specifically rule on this manual registry edit. Keep that policy separate from the unlocker maintainer’s warning: the repository says anti-cheat risk is unknown, but that is not an official HoYoverse determination. No source cited here confirms that either approach is approved or ban-safe.

Because the registry procedure is version-sensitive, restore your exported backup if the edit causes problems or you want to undo it: double-click the saved .reg file and confirm the import, then restart the game.
