Defeat a boss in Stellar Blade’s main story to unlock its battle data for Boss Challenge. You do not need to finish the campaign to access the base mode; seeing the ending is required only for Hard difficulty.
How to unlock Boss Challenge
- Defeat a boss in the main story. Boss Challenge progression uses battle data from bosses you have already defeated. Each story boss you beat makes its battle data available for a challenge fight.
- Challenge a boss with available battle data. The official mode announcement does not require completing the campaign before playing the base Boss Challenge.
- See the ending to unlock Hard difficulty. The ending requirement applies to Hard fights, not to access to the base mode.
PlayStation’s May 23, 2024 announcement describes the progression rule as requiring battle data from bosses previously defeated.

Choose your difficulty and loadout
Before a fight, you can use Eve’s own gear or select one of the available presets. The official announcement describes a minimum preset as a deliberately constrained setup and a maximum preset as one with all skills and stats boosted. It does not publish exact preset statistics or describe every preset variant.
Normal is available without the ending requirement. Hard becomes available after you have seen the ending, making it a post-ending option for players who want a tougher rematch.

Review your fight results
After each challenge, the game automatically analyzes the battle. The displayed metrics include fight time, perfect parries and dodges, and consumable use. Use them to review how a run went or compare results with friends.
Boss Challenge rewards
Neurolink Suit
Defeat all 19 bosses from the base game in Boss Challenge on Normal difficulty or higher to earn Eve’s Neurolink Suit. The 19-boss count refers to the original base-game roster in the 2024 announcement.

Royal Guard Suit
Mann was later added as a Boss Challenge opponent. Overcoming his trial rewards Eve’s Royal Guard Suit, according to PlayStation’s May 15, 2025 announcement. This is a separate reward from the Neurolink Suit, which requires clearing all 19 original bosses on Normal or higher.

The original Boss Challenge announcement covered PS5 availability with the May 24, 2024 update. PlayStation later announced the PC release for June 11, 2025 and said the additional PC content was also made available on PS5 through a patch. That later announcement confirms Mann’s trial, but the cited announcements do not establish a complete current post-update roster total or give exact menu navigation and controls.
