Most Chapter cosmetics in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are unlocked through the Armouring Hall’s Astartes Heraldry system. Play Operations or Eternal War to earn progression currency, then check the specific item’s in-game listing for its unlock condition. Some cosmetics instead come from a campaign milestone, a paid pack, or a special event or shop.
Where to find Chapter cosmetics
Go to the Armouring Hall and open armour customization. Browse the Astartes Chapters presets for ready-made looks, or open Astartes Heraldry to find Chapter-specific colours, emblems and armour parts. Focus Entertainment describes Heraldry as the place to unlock elements for recreating a Chapter’s colour scheme or building a custom design (Focus Entertainment, August 27, 2024).
Heraldry is modular: once unlocked, paints, patterns, emblems and armour components can be combined. You can use a preset as a starting point and customize individual parts rather than treating a Chapter appearance as one indivisible outfit.
How to unlock items through Heraldry
- In the Armouring Hall, open armour customization and browse the Chapter presets or Astartes Heraldry.
- Select the colour, emblem or armour component you want.
- Read that item’s displayed requirement and meet it. When the listing offers a currency purchase, use the currency shown there.
Operations (PvE) and Eternal War (PvP) award Armoury Data and Requisition Points for appearance customization, according to Focus Entertainment’s guide. The exact cost and eligibility depend on the item, so use its current in-game listing rather than relying on a universal price or requirement.

When a cosmetic uses another unlock route
Not every appearance item is a standard Heraldry progression unlock. If an item is missing from the ordinary Heraldry listings, check whether it is tied to a campaign milestone, paid content, or an event or shop.

Do you need the Season Pass?
No—not for all Chapter cosmetics. Focus Entertainment’s August 2024 guide described more than 30 Chapter looks as available at launch and said most were progression unlocks, while some were Season Pass exclusive. That is historical launch context, not a current catalogue or total. Check the item’s listing and the relevant pack details to confirm whether a particular cosmetic is included with paid content.

What to check if an item is not available
- Confirm you are looking in Astartes Heraldry, not only at the preset Chapter looks.
- Read the item’s displayed requirement; currency, eligibility and unlock conditions are not the same for every cosmetic.
- Check whether the item belongs to a paid pack, campaign reward, event or shop instead of ordinary Heraldry progression.
- For purchased packs, check the pack’s update notes: some items may be added directly to armour sets rather than shown as a separate Heraldry unlock.
Focus Entertainment’s official materials explain the main routes and several exceptions, but do not provide a complete current item-by-item catalogue of every Chapter cosmetic, cost and platform entitlement. The in-game listing is the best source for a specific item’s present requirement.
