Most of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ original racers are available from the start. The reported gameplay unlock is Super Sonic; Werehog depends on a purchase bonus, while crossover racers and post-launch characters come through paid DLC or free updates. This guide reflects information checked October 4, 2026, but SEGA’s reviewed pages do not provide one complete roster covering every release through that date.
Base-game racers: most are available immediately
SEGA announced 23 Sonic-universe characters for the game’s launch roster. That is a launch figure, not the total number of characters available after updates and downloadable content. Available reporting says the base-game racers are available from the start, with Super Sonic as the progression exception. SEGA’s launch announcement gives the original roster count; GamesRadar’s review describes the reported unlock exception.
How to unlock Super Sonic
- Play Grand Prix progression and defeat the rivals.
- Beat all 23 rivals to unlock Super Sonic, according to GamesRadar’s report.
GamesRadar also reports that Super Sonic cannot be used online. The reviewed official SEGA pages do not specify this unlock condition, so treat it as reported gameplay guidance rather than an official SEGA-published rule. You do not need a Deluxe Edition or Season Pass for this progression unlock.
Werehog: purchase bonus, not a normal unlock
SEGA classifies Werehog as a pre-order bonus for the digital version and an early-purchase bonus for the physical version. Access therefore depends on edition and purchase timing; it is not presented as a character earned through ordinary in-game progression. Check your platform’s edition details and entitlements if Werehog is missing. SEGA’s purchase guide lists the bonus conditions.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Paid crossover racers: check the DLC entitlement
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass, and SEGA says the Season Pass and collaboration DLC are also sold separately. SEGA’s official guide lists these planned DLC character groups:
| DLC wave | Racers listed by SEGA |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | Steve, Alex, Creeper |
| SpongeBob SquarePants | SpongeBob, Patrick |
| PAC-MAN | PAC-MAN and Ghosts |
| Mega Man | Mega Man, Proto Man |
| Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles | Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello |
| Avatar Legends | Aang, Katara |
SEGA notes that DLC contents and release dates can change. The list identifies characters in the guide; it does not establish that every wave is available on every platform as of October 4, 2026. Check your platform’s store and the game’s DLC or add-on status before purchasing or troubleshooting access. SEGA’s DLC guide has the official wave information.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Free-update racers: claim updates and add-ons
SEGA’s March 2026 update post names Red, Goro Majima (Captain Majima), and Arle as playable racers arriving through free updates. Its August 2026 announcement confirms Axel as a free-update racer and says an internet connection is required to claim add-ons. These announcements are examples of post-launch additions, not a complete current free-update roster.
- Install the game update for your platform.
- Connect to the internet when claiming add-ons, as SEGA specifies.
- Check the platform store or in-game add-on status if a racer does not appear.

Quick guide: identify the access route
| Character group | How access works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Original base-game racers | Available from the start, according to available reporting | Confirm you are viewing the base roster rather than DLC |
| Super Sonic | Reported Grand Prix progression unlock after defeating all 23 rivals | Complete the rival progression; the report says he is not usable online |
| Werehog | Digital pre-order or physical early-purchase bonus | Edition, purchase timing, and platform entitlement |
| Crossover racers | Paid Season Pass or separately available collaboration DLC | Current platform store listing and ownership |
| Post-launch free racers | Free updates or add-ons | Game update, internet connection for claiming, and add-on status |
Why this is not a guaranteed exhaustive roster
As of October 4, 2026, the reviewed SEGA pages do not consolidate all free updates and DLC into one dated roster. The launch count of 23 only describes the original announcement, while subsequent SEGA posts establish some later additions. For the characters actually available to your account, the current in-game roster and your platform’s store entitlements are the practical checks.
