To unlock CHEF in Risk of Rain 2, enable the Seekers of the Storm expansion, reach Reformed Altar through a fully charged Halcyon Shrine on stage 1, and give the Wok one Cautious Slug, one Bison Steak, and one Infusion. The ingredients can be submitted in any order, and submissions can carry over between runs.
Before you start: enable Seekers of the Storm
CHEF is a survivor included with Seekers of the Storm. The Epic Games Store expansion listing identifies the DLC as an add-on and says players without the expansion cannot select its new survivors or permanently unlock its additional content. Check that the expansion is enabled for your platform and game version; storefront labels and DLC settings may differ by platform.

How to reach Reformed Altar
- Start a run and reach stage 1. Find a Halcyon Shrine on the stage.
- Fully charge the shrine. Enter the green portal it opens to travel to Reformed Altar, the stage 1 destination on the Path of the Colossus described in the Halcyon Shrine reference.
- Find the Wok room. Look for the Wok and inactive CHEF bot. The survivor challenge, Order Up!, is to complete the Wok’s recipe.
Complete the Wok’s recipe
Submit these three items to the Wok:
- One Cautious Slug
- One Bison Steak
- One Infusion
The recipe is fixed, and you can hand over the ingredients in any order. Each item is removed from your inventory when submitted. According to the challenge reference, you do not have to submit all three in the same run: completed submissions persist across runs. Once the recipe is complete, Order Up! unlocks CHEF.
Who gets CHEF in multiplayer?
The player who submits the final required ingredient receives the unlock. If several players need CHEF, coordinate who turns in the last item; the other players should not assume they will receive credit just for being present.

Don’t confuse the survivor unlock with CHEF’s skill challenge
A publisher patch note published June 3, 2025, and updated September 3, 2025, says the separate CHEF skill challenge “You’ve Always Been Crazy” became achievable on Commencement.
