Fox and Sir Oofie are available from the start. The remaining characters have specific unlock requirements—ranging from map tiers and enemy defeats to weapons, items, quests, and challenges—and some must also be purchased after meeting their requirement. The two roster guides below list 21 characters, while Steam’s store page says 20, so use your installed game’s unlock screen as the final authority.
Every Megabonk character and how to unlock them
This checklist follows two fan roster guides reviewed through version 1.0.69. Conditions can differ in a later patch or another installed build; check the in-game unlock screen if a listed task does not match your game.

How to use the unlock checklist
- Open the character’s entry in the in-game unlock screen and read whether it requires a prerequisite, a purchase, or both.
- Complete the named condition as written. A map tier, weapon or item requirement, enemy count, quest total, and challenge requirement are separate progression tasks; completing one does not necessarily satisfy another.
- If the entry says to purchase the character, return to the unlock screen after meeting the prerequisite and buy them there.
- If the game’s requirement differs from this list, follow the installed build’s unlock screen and check your game version. The two guides list version 1.0.69 as their review baseline.
Why character counts differ
The two fan guides each list 21 playable characters, but Steam’s store description says “20 Characters with unique abilities.” The available sources do not establish whether Steam’s figure is outdated or whether the guides count a character unavailable in some builds. Check your in-game roster for the count in your version. Steam’s listing also advertises “240 in-game quests”; that is the store’s published figure, not a separate verification of current quest content. Megabonk on Steam.
