To unlock the Armory room in Blue Prince, solve the chess puzzle in the Precipice and select Mantle of the Knight. That adds the Armory to the room-drafting pool; it does not guarantee that the room will appear in your next draft.
How to unlock the Armory
- Reach the Precipice and solve its chessboard puzzle by placing all six chess pieces on the tiles that match the rooms where you found them. A correctly placed piece lights up. Once all six are in place, the panels behind the board open. The Precipice puzzle guide describes the board and its solution.
- Choose Mantle of the Knight from the chess powers. This is the choice that adds the Armory to the rooms you can draft. The Armory room page lists it as a Knight-associated room.
The board is a non-standard 9-by-5 chessboard, and each chess-piece type appears once. Match pieces to the locations where you found them; you do not need to draft the Armory to solve the puzzle or unlock this power.

Why the Armory may not appear right away
Unlocking a room makes it eligible to enter the draft pool, but does not force it into a particular run. Keep drafting if it does not appear. The Armory is a Shop and Blackprint room, and a Shops-restricted draft can make it more likely to encounter—but does not guarantee—the Armory. The Shop room guide describes ways to initiate a Shops-restricted draft: use the gold book in the Secret Passage or use the Prism Key on a locked Shop door. These methods raise the chance of seeing a Shop, not this specific Shop.
Armory drafting restrictions
The Armory cannot be drafted into every grid position. Its room page lists position restrictions; if your current game behaves differently from an older guide, rely on the in-game rules, which may change with patches. See the Armory page for the listed restrictions.
