In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch, collect coins in races and check the vehicle-body selection screen as you progress. The Biddybuggy is one of the kart bodies unlocked through the game’s coin-based random rewards; there is no specific coin total that guarantees this kart by itself.
How to get the Biddybuggy
- Race and collect coins to advance the vehicle-part unlocks.
- After earning coins, check the kart body options in the vehicle selection screen. The Biddybuggy may appear as one of the parts awarded.
- If it has not appeared, keep collecting coins and checking again. The order of kart bodies, tires, and gliders is random, so another part may unlock first.
How many coins does it take?
There is no established Biddybuggy-specific coin threshold. Coin totals advance the general unlock sequence rather than guarantee a particular body. Secondary guides report that 3,100 total coins unlock all standard vehicle parts; that figure is an endpoint for completing the standard-part unlocks, not a requirement to receive the Biddybuggy. Nintendo’s published materials cited here do not give the kart’s position in the sequence, so treat the 3,100-coin figure as secondary-source guidance, not an official Nintendo threshold. NintendoSoup’s 2017 guide describes the coin-based random unlocks and total; a later guide reports the same endpoint.

Make sure you have the right game
These instructions are for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch, not the original Mario Kart 8 release for Wii U. Nintendo’s official game page identifies the Switch title. If you are playing the Wii U version, do not assume this Deluxe unlock guidance applies.
Does amiibo unlock the Biddybuggy?
No amiibo shortcut for the Biddybuggy is documented in the cited material. Nintendo describes the relevant amiibo bonus as special Mii racing suits, not kart bodies. Nintendo’s amiibo support page covers those suit bonuses.
