You can use a CSV to organize or schedule videos for a YouTube 24/7 stream only if a separate playout or scheduling tool supports importing your CSV. YouTube’s documented live-stream workflow schedules a broadcast event and connects it to an incoming video feed; the official documentation reviewed here does not describe importing a CSV as a video playlist.
Why a CSV and a YouTube broadcast are separate
A YouTube broadcast is the live event and its watch page. A stream is the audiovisual feed sent to YouTube. YouTube’s API documentation describes creating a broadcast, creating a stream, binding the broadcast to that stream, and moving the broadcast through states such as testing and live. Each broadcast is associated with one video stream. YouTube Live Streaming API documentation
That event schedule is not the same as a schedule for which prerecorded file plays next. YouTube’s official guidance reviewed here does not specify a native CSV import for scheduling media within an always-on feed. A CSV-based lineup therefore needs a separate playout or scheduling layer, plus an encoder or cloud service to send the resulting feed to YouTube.
Choose where the playlist will run
Local encoder or hardware
You can play files through software on a computer or use a standalone hardware encoder. YouTube’s workflow connects the encoder to the channel using the stream URL and stream key; the encoder sends the video, while a scheduled Studio event provides an event page and a scheduled start. Cloud playout
A cloud playout service can host and transmit a playlist without requiring your computer to stay online. For example, Upstream describes always-on and scheduled streams from prerecorded videos, LiveReacting describes date- or repeat-scheduled playlists, and Looping Stream describes uploading files, arranging a playlist, and sending it to an RTMP destination. These are vendor descriptions, not independent reliability tests; the cited pages do not establish that any of these services imports your particular CSV.
- Upstream describes looping playlists in order or shuffle, as well as scheduled streams.
- LiveReacting describes playlists scheduled for dates or repeats and running from its servers while your computer is off.
- Looping Stream describes uploading files, arranging a playlist, choosing an RTMP destination, and running the feed from cloud infrastructure.
Check CSV support before preparing your file
Do not assume a scheduler accepts CSV just because it supports playlists or scheduled streams. Before building a large lineup, confirm the chosen product’s current documentation or ask its support team:

- Does it import CSV files, and what exact column names, encoding, delimiter, and date format does it require?
- Does a row describe a video, a YouTube broadcast, a playback start time, or a duration?
- Which time zone applies to scheduled times, and how are daylight-saving changes handled?
- How does it handle repeated entries, missing or renamed files, overlapping times, and a video that runs longer than its scheduled slot?
- Do edits to the CSV change a playlist that is already running, or must you import or restart it again?
- Does it send one continuous feed to YouTube, or create separate YouTube broadcasts for individual entries?
The answers determine how to format the file and whether it controls media playback, YouTube event creation, or both. Without confirmed format requirements, there is no reliable universal CSV template to give.
Set up the YouTube event and connect the feed
- Prepare your media and lineup. Make sure the playout system can access each video, then create its playlist or import the CSV using that product’s verified format. Check the order and timing in its preview or schedule before going live.
- Schedule a YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream event and set its title, visibility, and scheduled start. Alternatively, API users can create a broadcast with its title, scheduled start time, and privacy status. The broadcast creates the event; it does not supply the video feed.
- Configure the incoming stream. Use YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder or playout service. Treat the key like a password: do not put it in a publicly shared CSV, playlist, or screenshot.
- Bind and start the feed. For API workflows, create a stream with the needed transmission settings and bind it to the broadcast. Start the encoder or cloud playout, then check that YouTube receives video and that the event page is the intended one. YouTube’s official guide describes this broadcast-and-stream sequence. - Verify reception and visibility. Before relying on the event, confirm the incoming video is active and check the broadcast’s visibility and scheduled time. API users can retrieve stream status to check whether YouTube is receiving data. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveStreams.list
Plan for uninterrupted playback
YouTube’s API reference says that omitting a scheduled end time makes the broadcast continue indefinitely. That describes the event setting; it does not keep the encoder, playlist, computer, or network connection running. Test the actual sequence before treating it as 24/7: confirm what happens when a file is unavailable, the playlist ends, the local computer loses power, or the connection drops. A continuously scheduled event and a continuously transmitted feed are separate parts of the setup.
