A YouTube playlist’s Loop control repeats videos for someone watching the playlist; it does not broadcast them as a live stream. To run a lofi live stream, create a YouTube Live broadcast and send YouTube a continuous audio-and-video feed through an encoder. That feed can come from software or standalone hardware, but the playlist’s viewer-side Loop button is not a substitute for an encoder connection.
What a playlist can—and cannot—do
On a computer, YouTube’s playlist instructions say to open a video in the playlist, expand the playlist, and select Loop. That repeats playback for the viewer. It does not create a live broadcast or send the playlist to YouTube Live. YouTube’s playlist instructions and live-streaming guidance describe separate functions.
A continuous lofi broadcast therefore needs two things: audiovisual material you are allowed to broadcast, and an encoder that sends a live feed to YouTube. You can use an encoder in software or standalone hardware. YouTube’s official setup guidance does not specify a built-in way to feed a YouTube playlist directly into an encoder, so do not assume that creating or looping a playlist automates the broadcast.
Check channel eligibility before planning the stream
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to livestream. If you are enabling livestreaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours, so complete this step well before the planned start. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips and enable live streaming.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Verify the channel and check that it is eligible to livestream.
- Enable livestreaming in advance if it has not been enabled before; allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Confirm that every track, image, animation, and other visual element is cleared for live broadcast. Technical setup does not establish that a particular lofi playlist is licensed for your use.
Set up the continuous broadcast
- Create the event in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule a livestream and open its Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. Enter these in your encoder as instructed by its maker. Treat the stream key like a password: YouTube describes it as the password and address an encoder uses to send the feed. Do not share it publicly.
- Configure the encoder’s feed. Set up the audio and video source you intend to broadcast, then connect the encoder to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. The feed—not the playlist’s Loop button—is what makes the broadcast live.
- Start sending, then check the preview. In Live Control Room, confirm that the incoming picture and sound are correct before the public start. Check that the intended watch page is accessible to its audience.
- Monitor the stream while it runs. Watch stream health and listen for missing, distorted, or unexpectedly interrupted audio. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend leaving 20% of available upload bandwidth unused: the total stream bitrate should fit within the upload capacity with that headroom.
YouTube explains that an encoder converts video into a digital format for streaming. The exact controls and method for making a playlist or other source repeat inside an encoder depend on that encoder; YouTube’s documented workflow does not identify a universal playlist-to-encoder automation feature. Check the encoder’s current instructions rather than assuming YouTube playlist looping will control it.
Plan around the 12-hour archive and DVR caveat
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable. If a complete replay or rewind matters, plan the broadcast around that boundary and consult YouTube’s DVR guidance. Playlist repetition alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast or a complete archived replay.

Troubleshoot common failures
- The playlist repeats, but there is no live broadcast: Loop only affects playlist playback for viewers. Create a YouTube Live event and connect an encoder with the event’s server URL and stream key.
- YouTube receives no feed: Check that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key, and that it is actively sending. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The preview is missing picture or sound: Check the encoder’s selected sources and audio/video feed, then verify the result in Live Control Room before starting publicly.
- The stream is unstable: Check upload capacity against the total stream bitrate and reduce the bitrate or improve the connection if needed. Keep the 20% upload headroom YouTube recommends.
- The stream ends or the replay is incomplete: Check how long the broadcast ran. Automatic archiving is specified for streams under 12 hours; beyond 12 hours, DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
- A track or visual is claimed or blocked: Recheck the broadcast rights for every element. Having a playlist or being able to play a track does not establish permission to use it in a livestream.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that should keep looping uploaded videos without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
