Gyre can schedule a prerecorded video or playlist to play as a YouTube livestream. A YouTube Premiere is a separate feature for scheduling an uploaded video to play on its own watch page; Gyre’s published setup information does not establish that it can create or schedule Premieres directly. Choose the workflow that matches what you want viewers to see: a live broadcast, an uploaded-video Premiere, or a live stream that hands viewers off to a Premiere.
Choose the right YouTube format

Gyre’s scheduler concerns livestream events. YouTube’s Premiere schedule applies to an uploaded video. YouTube documents Live Redirect as the way to connect a live stream to a Premiere; that handoff is a YouTube feature, not a Gyre scheduling function. Schedule prerecorded content as a livestream with Gyre
Gyre describes two connection approaches: authorize a YouTube channel through its YouTube API workflow, or manually connect a YouTube live event using its stream details. The screens and controls can differ between these routes, so follow the prompts for the route you choose rather than assuming they are interchangeable. Gyre’s guides include channel authorization setup and scheduler setup.
- Check livestream eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel without livestreaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. Enabling livestreaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Choose the connection route. For authorization, select YouTube in Gyre and sign in with the Google Account that owns the channel, then grant the requested access. For manual setup, create the scheduled live event in YouTube Studio first and use that event’s stream details in Gyre.
- Choose the video source and broadcast settings. In Gyre, add the video or playlist and review the title, privacy, sequence, and any other broadcast parameters shown for your selected route. Confirm that the source is the intended content and that its order is correct before scheduling.
- Create a YouTube event if using manual setup. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, choose Manage, then Schedule stream. Create a new stream or reuse settings as appropriate. Copy the stream URL and stream key into the intended Gyre connection fields. These steps follow YouTube’s encoder guide.
- Set the schedule. In Gyre’s Streams Scheduler, select the broadcast and set its start time, end time, or both where available. For a manually configured YouTube event, check its visibility and whether auto-start or auto-stop is enabled if those controls are offered. API-authorized and manual flows may expose different controls; verify the event and schedule in both services.
- Verify before the start. Check the video or playlist, event privacy, start and end times, and the YouTube Live Control Room preview or readiness status. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams at least two hours before an event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes ahead. Those are YouTube recommendations for encoder setups, not a guarantee of performance or a requirement that maps identically to every cloud workflow; use the lead time to confirm the event and source are ready.
Protect the stream key
A stream key identifies where an encoder sends its feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it like a password: enter it only into the service you intend to use, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed. YouTube says channel owner or manager permission is required to reset a key. See YouTube’s stream key guidance.

Schedule a YouTube Premiere
Use YouTube Studio for a Premiere; it is not the same as scheduling a Gyre livestream. Upload the video, set its details, and schedule it as a Premiere:
- In YouTube Studio, upload or open the video and complete its details.
- Choose Schedule, then enter the date and time.
- Select Set as Premiere, configure a countdown if you want one, then save or schedule the video.
YouTube’s instructions state: “To schedule the premiere for later, click Schedule and then Enter a date and time and then Check Set as Premiere.” Read the current Premiere instructions before publishing, as interface labels can change.

Check format limits and promote the watch page
YouTube says Shorts are not supported for Premieres, and Premieres do not support 360/VR180 or output above 1080p. Once scheduled, the public watch page lets viewers set a reminder, comment, or chat before the start. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours in advance to give viewers around the world an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions feed; this is platform guidance, not a guarantee of reach. Hand a livestream audience off to a Premiere
If you want a Gyre-powered livestream to lead into an upcoming Premiere, set up the Premiere first. Then configure YouTube Live Redirect for the source livestream and choose the Premiere as its destination. YouTube advises allowing viewers about two seconds after the livestream ends for their screens to reload to the Premiere. Eligibility and available settings depend on YouTube’s current Live Redirect controls; check YouTube’s Live Redirect settings rather than assuming Gyre provides the handoff.

Troubleshoot before the scheduled start
- The channel cannot start a livestream: verify channel status and restrictions in YouTube Studio. A first-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The scheduled event stays offline: confirm that the correct YouTube event, stream URL, and stream key are connected; check the event’s privacy and start settings, then look for a preview or readiness indication in Live Control Room.
- The wrong video plays: inspect Gyre’s selected source and playlist order, then verify the broadcast assigned in the scheduler.
- The broadcast starts or stops at the wrong time: compare the scheduled times in Gyre and YouTube, including the event time zone and any enabled auto-start or auto-stop controls.
- The Premiere option is unavailable: check that the video is not a Short and that the planned format fits YouTube’s stated Premiere limits, including its 1080p ceiling and lack of 360/VR180 support.
- The Premiere does not receive the live audience: confirm that the Premiere was created first and selected as the Live Redirect destination for the source livestream in YouTube’s settings.

The choice is primarily about the viewing format: use Gyre when you want prerecorded material delivered as a livestream through its service, and use YouTube’s Premiere workflow when you want viewers to gather around an uploaded video’s scheduled release.
