1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo loop one study video on YouTube Live, add it to an OBS scene as a Media Source and enable Loop in that source’s properties. To cycle through several files, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to a stream in YouTube Studio with the stream URL and key, start streaming from OBS, and click Go live after the preview appears. You need an eligible channel and permission to livestream every video and audio element.
Before you set up the stream
Check YouTube livestream eligibility
YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel without livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The streamer must be at least 16, and first-time livestream access can take up to 24 hours to activate. Enable it ahead of your planned broadcast. See YouTube’s livestreaming help and age requirements.
Prepare the study video and computer
Have the video file available locally. OBS’s Media Source supports common formats such as MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM. If you plan to use a VLC Video playlist, install VLC first; OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. OBS’s documented source controls are described in its Media Sources guide, dated January 11, 2022; labels or interface layout may differ in newer releases.
Loop one study video in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, use the Scenes panel to create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- Add the video: In Sources, select + → Media Source. Name the source, choose OK, then browse to the local study-video file.
- Enable looping: In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop, then select OK. OBS will play the file again when playback completes.
- Check the preview: Confirm the video is visible in the OBS canvas and plays as expected. Adjust its position or size in the canvas if necessary.
Loop a playlist of study videos
- In Sources, select + → VLC Video. If this source is unavailable, check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS.
- Add the files you want to cycle through to the playlist in the source properties.
- Leave or set Loop Playlist on, then apply the changes and check that the playlist plays in the preview.
Use Media Source for one repeating file; use VLC Video when you want OBS to cycle through multiple files. OBS documents both options in its Media Sources guide.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live to enter Live Control Room. Create a stream or open the settings for an existing one.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. Keep the key private: someone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if available, or choose the option to use a custom server and enter YouTube’s stream URL. Paste the stream key into the key field and apply the settings.
- Select Start Streaming in OBS. Wait for the preview to appear in YouTube Live Control Room, check that it is the intended feed, then select Go live there.
- When finished, end the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop sending from OBS. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

Confirm rights and understand monetization limits
Permission to broadcast is separate from public availability
A video being publicly viewable on YouTube does not by itself give you permission to rebroadcast it from your channel. Use your own material or obtain rights that cover livestreaming and any resulting archive, including music and other audio. YouTube’s livestream terms require providers to have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights, and to follow applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the territory where the stream is carried. The terms also state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.” The reviewed guidance does not establish a separate India-specific OBS setting or permission for looping; creators in India should check the requirements that apply to their content and stream.

A loop does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy says monetized content should be original and authentic; the July 15, 2025 update clarifies that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under its “inauthentic content” policy. Similar or repetitive content with little educational value, commentary, narrative, or variation is among the examples described in the guidance. That makes monetization of a continuously repeated single prerecorded video uncertain, but the policy does not say every loop is automatically ineligible. Channel review considers the channel and its content as a whole. Do not assume that enabling OBS’s Loop setting makes a stream eligible. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For several files, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- VLC Video is missing from Sources: Install VLC and check that its 64-bit or 32-bit version matches OBS.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Confirm the server URL and stream key belong to the intended YouTube stream, then check that OBS is streaming. Keep the key private and replace it in OBS if it has been exposed.
- The preview appears but the broadcast has not started: OBS sends the feed first; select Go live in Live Control Room after the preview appears.
- You cannot enable livestreaming: Check channel verification and livestream restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- You are unsure whether you can rebroadcast the material: Do not treat public availability as a license. Confirm permission for the video, audio, livestream, and archive before going live.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded YouTube stream to continue without leaving OBS or a home computer running, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.
