In OBS Studio, add the Kannada sermon as a Media Source, add the church logo as an Image Source, place the logo above the video in the Sources list, then connect OBS to your chosen live-streaming destination. Rehearse the complete scene—including its audio and the destination’s live preview—before the service. The steps below use YouTube Live as an example; OBS can send its output to other destinations using their connection instructions.
What you need before opening OBS
- The recorded sermon file and church logo image stored on the computer running OBS.
- OBS Studio installed and a live-streaming destination configured for encoder streaming.
- A reliable upload connection and a stream key or equivalent credentials for your destination.
OBS lists common Media Source video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. Its Image Source guide lists BMP, TGA, PNG, JPEG, JPG and GIF; transparency is available when supported by the image format. These format lists do not guarantee every particular file will behave as intended, so preview your actual Kannada recording and check its sound and any on-screen text before the service. See the OBS Media Sources guide and OBS Image Sources guide.
Create the sermon scene and overlay the logo
- Create a scene: In the Scenes panel, add a scene for this service and give it a recognizable name, such as “Kannada sermon.”
- Add the recording: In the Sources panel, select the plus button, choose Media Source, create a new source, and browse to the sermon file. Check the preview to make sure the picture appears and starts at the intended point.
- Choose playback behavior: For a one-time service, leave Loop off. If the recording should repeat, turn it on deliberately. Media Source also provides options to restart playback when the source becomes active and to show nothing after playback ends; choose them according to whether the service includes a single sermon, repeated playback or other scene changes.
- Add the church mark: Select the Sources plus button, choose Image, create a source and select the logo file.
- Put the logo on top: In the Sources list, move the Image Source above the Media Source. Higher sources appear over lower ones.
- Position and size it: Select the logo in the preview and resize or move it to a low-distraction area. Keep it clear of the speaker, scripture text and subtitles, and confirm that it remains legible at the output size. OBS documents adding, ordering, moving and resizing sources in its Sources guide.
Set playback and audio for the service
Watch the sermon from its opening moments in OBS. Confirm that the intended video is playing, the logo remains visible, and the sermon audio—not an unintended microphone or desktop sound—is reaching the mixer. Video on the canvas does not establish that sound is present in the stream.
OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends checking the audio mixer meters. If the relevant meter does not move, inspect the audio device selection in OBS settings and select the intended device manually. If the sermon is a file with embedded audio, confirm its Media Source audio is being captured and that the meter responds during playback. Listen to a test stream or recording as well: a moving meter alone does not confirm intelligible, correctly balanced sound.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the sermon should play only once, check what happens when playback ends. For a repeat service, confirm the loop returns to the start cleanly. If you use VLC Video for a playlist or extended media support instead of a single Media Source, OBS says VLC must be installed and its bitness must match 64-bit OBS.
Choose output settings for your destination and connection
In OBS, review Settings → Output and Settings → Video. Set the output bitrate, resolution and frame rate to values the destination accepts and the computer and upload connection can sustain. There is no single correct bitrate or frame-rate preset for every church, file, destination and network. OBS notes that bitrate depends on upload capacity and destination limits, and that 60 fps can demand more resources than 30 fps. A mostly static sermon recording may not benefit from a high frame rate; choose settings based on the source and destination, then validate them in a rehearsal.

For YouTube, consult its current live encoder settings when selecting output settings. Use the Live Control Room’s feedback and stream-health warnings during your test rather than assuming that a setting is suitable because OBS accepts it. OBS’s Studio Overview Guide explains the interface and output controls.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream in the Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions.
- Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen, share it publicly or leave it visible in a recording.
- Start streaming from OBS and wait for the Live Control Room to receive the signal. Check the incoming preview for the right sermon, logo position and audio before making a scheduled stream live using the Live Control Room’s Go live step.
YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours. If this is the channel’s first live stream, complete activation well before the service. For a destination other than YouTube, use that platform’s own stream URL, key and go-live workflow rather than assuming YouTube’s steps or settings apply.

Rehearse and check copyright before the service
Run a short test using the same sermon audio, video, scene and connection you expect to use. Check the destination’s preview and stream-health messages, not only the OBS canvas. Confirm that the logo is legible in the delivered preview, the audio is clear, playback begins where intended, and the stream behaves correctly when the recording ends or loops. OBS encourages a test before going live; YouTube’s encoder settings guide covers checking the incoming stream.
Make sure the church has permission to livestream the sermon recording and any music, images or other material included in it. Having a file or permission to show it in person does not by itself establish permission to stream every component online. Review the destination’s current copyright rules and the church’s applicable licenses before broadcasting. This is a practical rights check, not legal advice.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The sermon video is missing or black: Confirm the Media Source points to the intended local file and that the file plays on the computer. Re-select it in the source properties, then inspect the OBS preview. The listed formats are common supported types, not a guarantee for every file or codec.
- The logo is hidden: Move its Image Source above the sermon Media Source in the Sources list. Check that the source is enabled and that the selected image file still exists.
- The logo covers important content or is hard to read: Resize or reposition it in the OBS preview. Check the destination preview at the actual stream size, especially if subtitles or scripture text appear near the chosen corner.
- There is no sermon sound: Play the file and watch the OBS mixer meters. Check Media Source audio capture and the selected audio device; listen to the destination preview or a test recording before the service.
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Recheck that OBS has the correct server URL and stream key, and that streaming has been started in OBS. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it through the destination’s controls and update OBS.
- The preview warns about stream health: Compare OBS output settings with YouTube’s current encoder guidance, check available upload capacity, and lower demanding settings if the connection or computer cannot sustain them. Test again before the scheduled service.
- The first live stream is not available yet: YouTube says initial live activation may take up to 24 hours. Activate ahead of time rather than troubleshooting at the start of the service.
- The recording repeats unexpectedly or stops on a blank scene: Review the Media Source’s Loop, restart-when-active and end-of-playback options against the intended service format.
