Reader Mode changes how eligible page content is presented; it is separate from a content blocker, which is the tool to consider when your goal is to filter or block page content. Check that the simplified view still includes the information and controls you need.
Try your browser’s reading view on the article
Reading views are browser features, not a switch that works on every Fandom page. Chrome says Reading Mode is unavailable on some websites, and Firefox displays its Reader View control only when a page is eligible. Fandom’s supported-browser list covers browser families and current releases; it does not guarantee that reading view will work on every wiki entry.
Chrome on a computer

Open the Fandom article in Chrome. Right-click the page and choose Open in reading mode. Chrome offers a full-screen view and a side-panel option.

Use Reading Mode’s controls to adjust font style and size, line and letter spacing, and theme. You can also toggle links and images, and desktop Chrome includes read-aloud controls. These presentation settings apply to text in Reading Mode, not other Chrome content.

Check whether the extracted article still contains what you need. Google notes that Reading Mode is not available on all websites and may not work as expected with formats such as image galleries, interactive maps, forms, quizzes, payment pages, and login screens. If it is unavailable or misses the desired text, Google suggests highlighting that content to trigger Reading Mode. Update Chrome if the controls are missing.

Firefox

Look for the Reader View icon in Firefox’s address bar. Click it when it appears; Mozilla says the icon is shown when the page is available for Reader View.

Adjust font and size, content width, line height, and the light, sepia, or dark theme to make the text easier to follow.

Review the result before relying on it. Mozilla describes Reader View as removing clutter such as buttons, ads, background images, and videos, but that simplified presentation is not a guarantee that every page is eligible or that unwanted elements are blocked before they load.

Check browser and platform compatibility
Fandom lists current desktop releases of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge as supported. For mobile, its list includes current Safari releases on iOS and iPadOS and Chrome on iOS and Android. Fandom recommends accepting browser updates. This is a compatibility list, not confirmation that a reading view is available or preserves every feature on a particular wiki article.
See Fandom Community Central: Help:Supported browsers. Browser menus, platform support, and page extraction behavior can change, so use the controls available in your current browser.
Know when to use a content blocker instead
Choose Reader Mode when the problem is visual density or text presentation and the browser offers a suitable view. Consider the browser’s content-blocking controls when your goal is to prevent or filter unwanted page content. These are separate purposes: the Chrome and Firefox reading-view documentation describes presentation features, not a promise that reading view blocks every ad or network request.

A blocker may also change how a page behaves. The available documentation does not establish whether a particular blocker works on a particular Fandom wiki or browser configuration, so check the page after changing blocking settings. Community advice about ad removal on one wiki should not be treated as a platform-wide guarantee.

Before reading in the simplified view, confirm that it retains the parts of the entry you rely on. A quick check helps distinguish a readability improvement from a view that has hidden useful context.

Content: Are the headings, text, links, images, and tables you need still present?

Navigation: Can you still reach the wiki controls or navigation needed to understand the entry?

Comfort: Can you adjust text size, width, spacing, and theme to suit the way you read?

Goal: Are you looking for a cleaner presentation, or do you specifically want page content filtered or blocked?

If reading view is unavailable or leaves out information you need, return to the regular article. Consider blocking controls separately if blocking—not presentation—is your aim.
What Fandom’s layout support does and does not establish
Fandom provides a support resource for the FandomDesktop wiki layout, but that resource does not establish specific layout controls relevant to Reader Mode or content blocking. For browser compatibility, use Fandom’s supported-browser page; for reading-view behavior, use the relevant browser’s own help documentation and check the individual article.
